That Leinster final today reminded me of the late 2000s when KK hopped off us a few years in a row.

Replying To beano:  "Laois it is so. Having looked at them on the telly this evening, they have serious fire-power around the middle. I'd consider man-marking Purcell as he is their main man and the best lower tier player I have seen. A strong bench too. They were a bit like we can be on occasion in that they were let down by too many wides today, but showed great resolve to come back twice. Was a great game to watch, with momentum swinging both ways and some excellent scores across the pitch.

In a just system, we could be sitting ducks as we'd be seen as a scalp by teams at that level. However, the quick turnaround after what surely is a deflating defeat does Laois no favours, and is quite farcical. The step up from McDonagh to All Ireland series has added nothing the spectacle of the overall championship yet (its a great little standalone competition in and of itself), and not even the crest of Offaly's current wave will help them against Cork next week. Anything less than a comfortable victory will be unacceptable, and that's not being disrespectful to the midlanders."
I'd rather we only just beat Laois and were fresh the weekend after tbh. It's not a given we will beat Laois at all.

I think it was a little worse than that to be honest.

Even then we'd match them for at least have the game.

I suppose, yesterday never really was a game. I brought my young fella to it, he said after 5 mins that he'd rather watch Wexford.

The McDonagh game ended right well, I thought the ref was harsh blowing up Laois for steps just as they were about to equalise

Sorry to our Dublin contributers to the forum ye deserved to be there but it truly was one of the worst Leinster final performances ever and we had a few in the 00s! The Kilkenny 3rd goal just summed it up. Completely not tuned in. It was like they achieved their target for the year and the rest of the year is a bonus.

Let's have no talk of a comfortable win next weekend. It's going to be far tougher than some think. Hopefully we get over the line and just give Clare/Limerick a bash.

I don't think we can afford to be complacent at all. Laois surprised Dublin a few years back don't forget.

I'd have time for them as a hurling county. They'd have more tradition than Dublin and possibly even Offaly.

Very good thread Twitter thread below on development squads and what their aim should be, might be relevant to some of the discussions on here about our under-age set-up in the county

Got sent that yesterday morning. Definitely the main reason for the development squads isn't winning Tony Forristals, Arrabawns, Michael Foleys, and Minor AIs, though obviously its great for the lads in the teams and managements that do. It's more about producing, or maybe nurturing or developing would be better words, talented players that hopefully will be top intercounty players in the future.

For sure Doyler Laois won an AI in hurling long before Offaly did. They won an AI in hurling before Galway and Waterford did too.

Kerry and London won an AI (hurling) before Kilkenny did. Do both of them have more tradition than Kilkenny?

Why are all of your contributions so snarky and sarcastic?

You could say Kilkenny's fantastic hurling tradition is somewhat of an insult to the GAA given their equally notable loyalist tradition.

All that will have no bearing on what happens next Saturday. We will have to bring our A game to Pottlaoise and go for it from the first minute.
Lets hope jippo is okay and not injured as some have said. Laois are not a bad side and will be keen to wipe out the defeat by Offaly and will give themselves a real chance of causing an upset.
They will know that Wexford are inconsistant and will try to exploit any weakness that may materialise.

So constantly correcting errors and asking questions of people who make unfounded statements is being 'snarky and sarcastic '. You 'dprefer that I let you wallow in your ignorance?

I find a bit rich that you, of all posters, should accuse someone of being 'so snarky and sarcastic'.

Could you elaborate on this 'snarky and sarcastic' comment?

I didn't make an unfounded statement. I stated a fact. Laois won an AI hurling title long before Offaly, and before Galway and Waterford too.

Tongue in cheek my friend. Fighting fire with fire as it were.

It's up for debate, but not inaccurate to say laois have better tradition than Dublin or Offaly. It's not unfounded. Only one Dublin born player has ever won Liam McCarthy. Offaly tradition is almost entirely confined to one decade.

It's not comparable to the suggestion you made.

Really wasn't impressed with Clare today, poor goalkeeper, poor free taking and not at all convinced by Conlon at 6.

Get over Laois and they're definitely there for the taking.

Would expect Wexford to beat Clare well. Clare will be drained by loss today.

Championship starts now. Hopefully a tough enough game v Laois, and avoid injuries/suspensions and a huge crack off Clare then.

Last 4 is definitely on now. A very good Clare team are at the end pf their cycle. Limerick were more than comfortable today. We should have won in Thurles in '22. Expect we will make up for that in a few weeks.
