Replying To Wexican55:  "TBF it is a rumour I have heard twice aswell about a defender and a hamstring ....but we have all heard these before and you we won't know until next Saturday when team lines out."
On Sunday 9th June Oylegate-Glenbrien will host a challenge charity match V Shels at 7.30pm - donation bucket at the gate and a raffle - all proceeds will go to support Conor Martin a young Shels player who sustained life changing injuries in February. Conor's granny Eileen Hearne is a native of Glenbrien and the club are delighted to help in any small way with assisting the family to get Conor home.

All support welcome.

Replying To WEXILE:  "Slightly off topic but it's Leinster final day and I'm gutted we are not there. Another chance this year that we threw away I feel.

The only positive is at least the Leinster final will feature 2 Leinster teams. I think the delegates in Leinster have been way too accommodating and compliant with Gakway and Antrim playing in Leinster. I'm not against them playing their round Robin before possible Liam McCarthy but in no way shape or form should Galway be in a Leinster final.

It means nearly nothing to them, they're not in Leinster! It means the world to Wexford .Offally and Dublin etc. We have suffered as a result more than anyone over the last 10 years or so. Galway were in nearly every final.

The remit of the Leinster Council should be promoting hurling in Leinster. I feel bending.over backwards for Galway is doing nothing for Leinster.

You could argue that Galway provides another competitive fixture in Leinster which it does but at whose expense especially when there is only 3 places out of RR in Leinster.

There should be an extra place out of round Robin in Leinster and I feel only Leinster teams should be allowed play in Leinster final. Until the provincial system goes then they are still provincial finals.

Remember the excitement in school and getting the special trains put on from Enniscorthy up to Croker. Those days are in the rear view mirror now.

You could also argue we need to get our house in order to be more competitive and that'd true too bit this system is a.complete disaster in my opinion."
Wexile. If Galway were not allowed play in a leinster final and finished 1st or 2nd in the round Robin what you are proposing is whoever comes 3rd would play the top team. Of course that would be a big advantage to Wexford and increase hugely our chances of appearing in a leinster final.
Galway were drafted into leinster having been automatically in an all ireland semi final for donkey years.
Hardly fair was it?
I have no problem with Galway in leinster.
Surely if we were to finish 3rd and then leap frog over Galway if they finish 1st or 2nd would be ridiculous and very unfair. I know you are looking at it with a very large Wexford hat on but really wexile it's up to us to get to the top in leinster by fair means by beating the big 2.
Why do you say that it means nothing to Galway to win a leinster final? Trophies are scarce and to win one is always a great cause for celebration regardless of who wins it.
Your methodology would weaken leinster even more.
By including Galway it makes it more competitive and harder for us to succeed but isn't that the way it should be and not give us an easier ride.
I and I'm sure many others would get no satisfaction in a completion like you propose. The first thing people would say if it was to be introduced is
" ah sure lads if Galway was there you would have found it much tougher and it's not right that you won by not playing one of the stronger teams.
As John F Kennedy said in the early 60s
" we do it not because it's easy but because it's hard"

Replying To WEX98:  "They were doing collective training Saturday mornings in Bunclody back in February, it was indoor because the pitches were so wet."
That's right. So only once a week. And a gym session which largely relies on the lads following a programme by themselves. Maybe not too bad at u14, but at u16 other counties are doing more than us. Seemingly it's because our clubs don't want their players training more than once a week with the county, which is a little strange if the same lads are serious about improving the standard of players.

No the gym sessions were coached by the development squad coaches.....it was just done on a school by school basis, so the 14s and 15s on the development squads in Enniscorthy CBS done it Wednesday mornings at 8am

Few months if it's a grade 3 as the rumours go the last couple days.

Luck has nothing to do with injuries, to Wexford or any other county. Injuries are part and parcel of all top level sports.

Yep. Terrible unlucky for Jippo if it's true.

Laois it is so. Having looked at them on the telly this evening, they have serious fire-power around the middle. I'd consider man-marking Purcell as he is their main man and the best lower tier player I have seen. A strong bench too. They were a bit like we can be on occasion in that they were let down by too many wides today, but showed great resolve to come back twice. Was a great game to watch, with momentum swinging both ways and some excellent scores across the pitch.

In a just system, we could be sitting ducks as we'd be seen as a scalp by teams at that level. However, the quick turnaround after what surely is a deflating defeat does Laois no favours, and is quite farcical. The step up from McDonagh to All Ireland series has added nothing the spectacle of the overall championship yet (its a great little standalone competition in and of itself), and not even the crest of Offaly's current wave will help them against Cork next week. Anything less than a comfortable victory will be unacceptable, and that's not being disrespectful to the midlanders.

Of course it's part and parcel of any sport but it is also true to say that it's unlucky for any player to miss out for possibly the rest of the season.
He has trained hard and then WHAM, he's gone.
Only way to describe it is unlucky.
