I know a lad on the KK county board and he's been saying that all week. That means absolutely nothing if our lads don't play Antrim as if they were Kilkenny. Molloy, Johnston and O'Neill weren't playing in Kilkenny. Rooney, McCloskey, Boyd, Mcmullan and O'Brien, who all started when Antrim nearly beat Dublin in the League til they were undone by a late own goal, all didn't feature in Nowlan Park either.

He's a good prospect Doyler but for me was behind Patsy and AJ as regards being the best player on that minor team. All personal opinion I know.

Doyler I think he's a good player too but he wasn't the standout player of the League. He played well but Chin, Damien Reck and Kevin Foley were the standout players on our unbeaten run in the 1st 3 games of the League. He did very well against Waterford ok, but Cian Byrne scored 5 from play, and Casey, the 2 Recks and Kevin Foley were also excellent in that game. Hearne was also very good in the League, as was CBD.

That's exactly what I was thinking Barney.

Which lads were they resting?

I agree that he needs to show more but he's still young, Shane Reck is a lot better player now than he was five years ago for instance

And Kerry, a Joe McDonagh cup team bet Westmeath on Sunday in championship, something Wexford couldn't do in the previous two years..

Agree with you fully. Like to see Richie at midfield he's not an inside forward and was very good there against Clare .

I know the Antrim GK (Who only came back after the league) was sin-binned after about 20 minutes, looks like they didnn't even bring him back on after the sin-bin was up, that's a bit odd ElGranSenor (Wexford) - Posts: 436 - 23/04/2024 22:16:24 2540287 Link 0 |

Antrim are at low ebb although we were blessed to get result.in league. Bit like Sunday last! But theyll always raise game in Belfast. Wexford would want a good start and build a lead. They love a dogfight. BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3430 - 23/04/2024 22:52:07 2540296 Link 0 |
I'll acknowledge there's a bias here on my part but his contribution goes beyond the scoreboard. I take great exception to him being singled out. If somebody wanted to pick on somebody's hurling there are multiple candidates with Leinster medals who are behind him. Doylerwex (Wexford) - Posts: 3501 - 23/04/2024 22:57:55 2540299 Link 0 |
Should nt be typing whilst eating lunch I suppose but he was definitely smoking on Sunday after his performance

That's 8. Why would they want to rest them for a championship game. 0 knew that they wouldn't beat the cats but surely it should be about damage limitation and not to go out and get hockeyed. Interesting to see will they rest some lads against us. Maybe they were ravaged with injuries like we were in the recent past.

Keelin Molloy and the other Dunloy players only rejoined their panel at the end of the League. Think I posted that above too

Guess we will know when we see their team line up. Elliot has been their 1st choice keeper for a good while. Likely they didn't bring him back on against Kilkenny in case he picked up a red card and 1 game ban. Or got injured. Keelin Molloy is one of their best players. If you watched any of Dunloys or Cushendalls games on their runs in the AI club series the last 2 years you would know what them boys can do. And in the last few years they beat Clare in the League, ran Cork closer in the championship 2 years ago than we did in this year's League, and didn't get hammered in the Park last year. They are at home this time. If our players are thinking like some of our supporters on this forum they will be coming back down the M1 with nothing. We will win if we bring our A game, but will we?

Look it's not going to be easy in Belfast on Saturday. They will have their homework done on us. Expect high dropping balls into our full back line. They will know we are weak in that area and will try to exploit it. If Jippo is available he is the guy who can snuff out their attempts at goal scoring.
