Was in at the two intermediate matches tonight. Buffers Alley were completely outclassed for last 10 minutes. They went very defensive and St. James won lads of puc outs in a row. While it took a last second point to win it, they had missed loads of chances before then and should of won by more.

The second game, Blackwater must be kicking themselves, missed too many chances. Taghmon relied on frees to stay in the game in the second game, took their goal chance well while Blackwater missed there's. Probably a poor match for the neutrul. Cathal Doyle took his chances well but seem to be well shackled overall. Mossy Murphy dangerous for Blackwater.

Thought the Gorey-Rapps game was a poor spectacle but the right winner in the end. Naomh Eanna murdered them early on but completely fluffed 3-4 goal chances. Rapps showed up better after the break but those missed frees were criminal. I think Naomh Eanna are better served with Jack Cullen at wing-back in a sort of Kyle Hayes rampaging role, and felt Mac was well shackled. Jippo the best for Rapps by a distance.

Starting to worry about the standard of our premier competition- the condensed format has unquestionably destroyed the quality.

Poor enough stuff Gorey v Rapps. Never seen the Rapps as bad, Gorey could have buried them in first 10 mins. Started second half very well but missed frees killed them. McGuckian was outstanding, Cian Molloy solid at 6, Dunbar dangerous when given time and space. In terms of county players, Mac and Kevin Foley were very poor and Oisin Pepper has regressed a long way.

Rapps have regressed under new Management, see to purpose in a lot of the play. Gorey impressive in patches seems to have learned from last year and are utilising their panel better to impact the game

Well the first game hardly set things alight either. CB just didn't have the forwards to trouble the Martins. Foley by all accounts having injury issues. Perhaps the Martins needed to get a bad one out of their system. P Foley now heading back to Australia, job done, relegation playoff avoided.

As regards how Rapps lost to Naomh Eanna, I don't think you'll ever see a greater example of a team shooting themselves in the foot:
- Missed three easily scoreable frees
- Two more shockingly bad wides from play
- A loose ball back across the field with seven or eight minutes to go, that gave Conor Mac a handy point
- And even though it came so early in the gave of the game, the way their 'keeper Anto Larkin caught the ball too often while working it out field after a short puck-out, to give Gorey a 'gimme' point from a free as well.

There's a potential seven-point swing in a match that finished with only four between the sides.

No doubt that the better side won on the evening, but poor and all as the Rapps were, they could still actually have won it if those few basics had gone differently.

Lads, the standard of club hurling for a Liam McCarthy county is shocking at the minute.

I've watched quite a few games across Senior and Inter the last few weeks and the hurling is very very slow and littered with poor first touch, poor striking etc etc.

Not sure what the fix is with this, but I think it is the reason we have a really poor record in Leinster competitions too.

The winners also have to wait a very very long time now to play the Leinster games too.

But a lot of them play football in a few weeks, I think we are starting to see the overall effects of this new club season split.

The outcome is hurling is Wexford is going backwards under it.

Watched the Martin's v crossabeg match and thought it was awful. The standard for a county quarter final was shocking. I've been to or streamed around 10 senior games and have to say the standard across the board is very poor. Think the senior championship reflects where Wexford hurling is at .

I'm going to watch the Kerry hurling final which is live on Tg4 at 3pm today and compare to our senior club hurling at the minute.

The likes of Antrim and Carlow have better senior hurling teams than Wexford.

Absolutely brilliant game in the Park. Fair dues to Oylegate, they really wrested control after the break and scored some excellent points. Was very impressed with the two Hourihane's, Jack Reck, Mikie Kelly and of course Seamus Casey. I'd be having a look at bringing Duggan into the county set up as well. Thought Niall Murphy was a man mountain for the champs, but some of their go-to men didn't fire at all in the second half.

Its amazing how often the quarter finals are a graveyard of champions.

Thought Gorey should have buried the Rapps in first 10 mins though, lost count of how many goal chances they butchered. Missed frees were terrible just after half time. Keith Rossiter was very critical of quality of game on the stream. Total lack of intensity. Maybe a week off after group stages would help.

Agree on all except Larkin didn't catch it 3 times, the referee made a mistake.

All four teams from group A into the semis. Great win for Oylegate deserving winners and could have won by more butchered at least two goal chances. Casey was excellent.St annes really took control in extra time liam of got two goals and Dee o Keefe looked back to his best and will fancy their chances now. Hard to gauge martins game crossabeg battled hard but lacked quality Rory o Connor was outstanding some of his scores were unreal. Gorey had a good win but will be hoping no to fall flat like they did last year. McDonald hasn't fired at all this year and will need more from him if they are to progress

I think people are a lot quicker to criticise referees than they are to praise them and there were some on here querying giving QFs to rookie refs but I have to say that the referee for the Anne's-Shels game (Holohan?) was terrific. Never too quick to blow the whistle, making sure to consult his umpires before a big decision, and never trying to make himself the centre of attention.

The split season doesn't seem to be a problem for Ballygunner producing good hurlers. It's too easy to use that as an excuse. Good hurlers are developed through a clubs underage section and that is where the issue lies.

Of the hurlers outside this years panel who have impressed I'd suggest Joe Barrett, Diarmuid O Leary Eoin Ryan, Justin Moran, Mike Kelly and Sèamus Casey as those who are playing well. All of them have been involved before or at underage and would need alot of work. The other standouts at senior level are all the well known names.

Accepted. I'd actually taken my eye off things for a few seconds as that happened, and when the whistle went, asked the person beside me what it was for. Reply was "must have been for too many catches", but have seen since that the referee made a mistake all right.

Good hurlers are developed through hurling all the time.

A break between the groups and the knockout would help the quality.

It's too smash and grab at the moment.

The reason we're poor in leinster now is because they'll be months without competitive hurling.
