Maybe ye could! Kerry have won provincial titles playing all games in the grounds of their opponents. The main reason that Kerry's provincial titles are respected in comparison with Dublin.

Legend, you usually have sensible posts but that creating artificial "Provinces" nonsense was blown rightfully out of the water in 2021.

In that case, kerry winning Provincial Football titles in a Hurling Province cannot be respected.... No wonder you have dominated the Munster SFC with 83 wins, and the next being Cork with 37, Tipp with 10 and Clare with 2.... I would have a lot more respect for Cork to be honest. A LOT MORE...! Yes and no. Should teams have to win at least 2 games to qualify for the All-Ireland series through their province? If Limerick had beaten Clare, they would have only won one game to qualify. If counties are not moving provinces which is completely fair enough, there is an argument for only Connacht and Munster winners qualifying as those provinces don't have a full set of quarter-finals. Leinster and Ulster then should be allowed both finalists qualifying. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 8779 - 25/04/2023 13:19:14 2473693 Link 0 |
There have been 2 All Munster All-Ireland finals in the qualifier era. Clare and Limerick have made the All-Ireland quarter-finals in the qualifier era. Tipperary have made the All-Ireland semi-finals in the qualifier era. Some province for one province! ;-)

In fairness Clare is probably a half and half county in terms of half and half in terms of hurling and football. East Clare is hurling, West is football. In fairness since Colm Collins took over as Clare manager we have beaten every team in Leinster either in League or Championship apart from Dublin. So I don't see the disrespect that Clare seem to get, we are not going to win Sam Maguire but we are probably a top 10 team at the moment. Like all these Leinster counties that are fully football like Meath and Kildare and Clare are still able to beat them picking off only about half of the county and are see able to beat these teams and be in Sam Maguire ahead of them. Amen. Seems the only one cheerleading retaining it here, is from Kerry. If there is a funeral for the Leinster Championship I will show up just to make sure it's dead and never coming back! That day can't come soon enough.

To be fair to Clare football has moved alot more from the west, west football is struggling in Clare, some of the strongholds of Clare hurling have fallen away as well, was at the Limerick Vs Clare minor game and think Clare had 7+ lissycassey players and they are ah intermediate club.

Do you really believe that is the reason Offaly and Laois don't want to play in the Munster Championship? Or Longford in Connacht?

I'd say Kerry Munster football titles are on same par as Lisbellew's 56 in a row hurling in Fermanagh :-)

Ah sure I take your views with a pinch of salt. The last time Cork were All Ireland champions Kerry beat them the following year to win Munster title as we have done on many occasions. However in your eyes beating All Ireland champions is worthless especially if it munster football championship. Also you are being very disrespectful to the other good football counties in Munster.

I'm only busting your chops Micko. Munster and Leinster are both increasingly meaningless with the round robin groups of four. It is not beyond possibility that Dublin might not lose in Leinster for another ten years and beyond, Likewise with yourselves. Ah, the old 'make the outlier the rule' trick. Fair play to Offaly, glad to see them progress, but the gap problem in the Leinster Championship remains, and a result or two once in a while which cheers the masses isnt' a cure, nor is farming counties out to other provinces ad hoc. The issue is the gap and the lack of meaningful investment to deal with a real and measurable problem across Leinster for decades now which may are (unbelievably) in denial of, even today. Perhaps you have to feel the impact of it year on year for half a century to really understand it.

Hard to disagree with you on that one Barney. Even success in the provincials now is sort of meaningless for the top counties.

... And yet What happened last night? And look at you.. looking up all the populations, particular interest of yours the Leinster Championship isn't it. Similar numbers, have seen counties like Mayo, Donegal, Monaghan, Tyrone incredibly competitive on a national level Sure listen, even a Dubs team incapable of beating anyone outside of Leinster in the 00's still dominated Leinster, a Dubs team that were often humiliated by others, were still lording it in Leinster. Leinster has been poor for quite a while. Dubs not good enough yet again to claim the U20 title last night. Congrats to Kildare on back to back titles, but it's nothing new for Kildare winning big underage titles, they've produced class players Unfortunately it's just not been built on for some reason, I don't have the answers to that one but obviously there's a disconnect there and maybe there's some Kildare posters that can add their opinions to that. jimbodub (Dublin) - Posts: 20763 - 26/04/2023 12:10:41 2473950 Link 1 |

What is the solution for Leinster? Should all other Leinster counties compete in a Leinster B Championship with the winner taking on Dublin in the final with home advantage for the B winner?
