Replying To ChinCanHurl:  "Doesn't matter where he heard it because it isn't true. Mac and Chin both start.

Strong team and about 6-7 players on the bench who can come on and make a big impact. Looking forward to it now"
I got it from a very reliable source who generally doesn't lead me astray. Charlie Mac in for Conor Mac. Might be no harm to him give him a pep in his step coming on. Damo Reck also under pressure but will start.
We're up against it but I think they will play very well tomorrow

Replying To beano:  "Heard the same too, from different sources as well who usually get the news.

Very bad form from Fanning to walk away the week of championship and he must have no self-awareness if he thinks not getting the start was a harsh call against him. All points to a disjointed camp."
Agree re Fanning. He's been a great servant to Wexford but his stepping away smacks of childish behaviour. Everyone has to be accountable for their own performance and he made some very poor errors last year that cost the team. I would've hoped his reaction to being dropped would be to work extra hard to regain his place and not just walk. Lawlor has been waiting to be given his chance and deserves his place. Up to him now to perform

Totally agree. If the rumours about Conor Mac are true I would find it incomprehensible to see him named to start

I was told yesterday that Conor Mcdonald is not starting. We must have picked up some very good forwards in the League not to start Mc. We will be only playing 5 forwards anyway so that is a disaster for starters . Hope to god Rory O Connor is not played away from goal like the Limerick league game .
Mark Fanning has let himself and the group down very badly . Its very disappointing to hear he walked away from the panel because he was not starting .
Best of luck tomorrow lads.

Replying To ExiledInWex:  "I don't agree with this.

I read this message board to help me get to know the Wexford hurling scene better. Even talking to people in clubs they have agendas, vendetta's, and so on. A bit like this board.

Most posters on here are balanced and fair in their criticism. I don't see individual names mentioned often which is my pet hate - a player doing his best deserves better. And anybody who played the game knows how hard it is at club level and how much the game has improved in our life times. I can't imagine me surviving in the modern game.
There are trolls on every social media, and I could name 5 posters who will appear tomorrow evening if Wexford lose. There's more who aren't even from Wexford who have accounts set up pretending to be Wexford fans.

If you read this board regularly, you don't need to be Einstein to know who is a fair and balanced poster and who is hiding behind anonymity to have a go at players, managers, co. board and so forth. I only reply to a genuine poster and know who appear like mushrooms in a forest after rain when Wexford lose.

Honestly, I would love if Dublin hurling had as vibrant a message board as this is."
That's why I said this thread has become a cesspit at TIMES over the last 6 months, most of the time its exactly how you describe but on occasional times its being a cesspit, the day and day after the Clare league game (awful performance granted) it was a cesspit, I challenged the most vocal critic after that game and he's disappeared off the face of the earth for some reason, someone clearly lied about the minors losing challenge games as he claimed his son is involved but didn't know the championship draw, someone else jumped to conclusions that the u20s were hammered by Westmeath in a challenge game when in fact it was an u19 development panel that played that game.

Under 19 development panel complete farce of a concept, massaging the egos of players is all its doing.
You're not good enough to be on the panel but you can be on a pretend panel (You're just the second best priest)

I wasn't making out that you were lying sorry if it came across that way. I hope it isn't as you say. Some people say Mac needs a wake up call but we don't have the luxury of many players that can change a game in a second like he can.

The less said about Chin potentially being out the better as that would be curtains for our chances.

I'd actually agree for all the doom and gloom since January that's as strong a Wexford bench as I've seen in a long time, Mac has been hit and miss at times over the last couple of years I think what frustrates people is he is capable of much more.

Replying To beano:  "Have to admit that I am getting Colm Bonnar era vibes about our progression this season. Our performances in the league (even when taking into account the injuries) were bad enough, but the fact we had no discernible game-plan was the biggest worry. But this is championship and I am obviously rowing in fully behind the lads and preversely, despite my reservations, am still looking forward to it.

I'd say the team is pretty much nailed on along similar lines to what has been submitted on here, but no way Jacko starts when as always he was flitted between half-back and half-forward across the last few games. I see the front eight being:

Dee-Mogie
Hearne-Chin-McGuckin
Rory-Mac-Dwyer.

Just a broader comment. This phenomenon in GAA of 'not wanting to show your full hand'. We are at such a low ebb that why don't we go the full hog and play Rory, Mac and Chin inside together? As Cyril Farrell mentioned on the podcast this week, the era of a three-man full-forward is gone so it would be novel, and certainly more preferable than playing ROC in a sweeper role.

Only the GAA could dilute the premier competition in both codes that teams are happy enough not to go full throttle. Apparently Davy won't want to beat Limerick this weekend as it may be too early- this despite Waterford having a horrendous campaign last year and there is no better man to instill belief in a group than Davy. The format of the under-20 is laughable and like something from go games-participation medals for everyone. In football, seemingly Mayo and Tyrone were better off getting knocked out of their respective provinces as it allows them a longer block of training!

The authorities have started the championship season too early and there just isn't that feel to it yet. The pricing structure is too high. I was more interested in the Masters the first weekend it returned, and in all honesty am more likely to be invested in the conclusion of the Premier League etc, especially when the general consensus is 'ah shure teams aren't showing their full hand'."
'The authorities have started the championship season too early and there just isn't that feel to it yet'

Fair enough if you feel that way but don't be here during the club championship saying that's to condensed, you can't have your cake and eat it, if there's a fair and balanced schedule for everyone sacrifices have to be made as there's not enough weekends in the year for the current schedule.

It's one good way to look at it we have lads like Mac , Jacko, Kevin Foley to come off the bench and have plenty of experience . I'd be more disappointed that these lads haven't pushed on and made themselves key players for us. I would have liked to have seen Mac start though. Who is likely to play full forward now Rory or Chin?

Having seen McDonald in league matches, I think the only reason he's on the team is the lack of top alternatives on the bench.
Having seen what a player he was up to U21 and in his breakthrough year in 14, it is a shame his development as a player seems to have come to a halt. I thought he had it all back then to become a real legend of the game.
I get that the step up is huge and the game plans haven't supported an inside forward, but other counties inside forwards manage.

I've no idea weather this is fair or not but just pointing out how people were jumping to conclusions on the result of a challenge game.

Just ignore them. Half are fake accounts, the other half just want to complain.

If the rumours are right… injury doubts over chin, Damien reck and ohanlon… Conor MAC dropped but still named in team and fanning leaves the panel. That's a pretty dire situation going into tomorrow. Really it just about sums up our year so far. Very worried now about tomorrow.

Just because a player is dropped for potentially 1 game doesn't write them off, Gillane was dropped for a Munster Final 2 years ago, in fairness McGuckin was 1 of the better performers over the league so would merit a start he gets the spot.

Yeah. Let's not bother starting to prepare next year's U20 team when we have the chance. Let's just leave all these lads out in the lurch, and only bring them together for the first time next January or so.

Roll eyes emoji.

I'm one of the advocates of the split season, just prefer it alternated year on year and it'd be perfect.

Just thinking about the Fanning situation. Say Lawlor picks up a knock during the warm-up or in-game, a young lad will be thrust into championship action for the first time because an experienced lad threw his toys out of the pram. Not ideal.

With Willie Cleary involved can't see Mac being dropped

Was told on the Fanning situation today that he has left the panel but there's more to it that what's speculated here, stuff not to do with hurling, probably best myself included to give him the respect and not delve too much into it all.
