Replying To fifty:  "Look Derry set up a mark for the first time in years to topple Tyrone, yet if we believed the naysayers before hand.....
This Donegal team have choked on a number of occasions when the chips were down. Hopefully they will again on Sunday!
Is it possible for this site to run without vendettas? Why not enjoy the games while we can!! Good luck to Cavan, hope your long hours training and planning are rewarded!"
You do realise that Derry beating Tyrone was highly unexpected for very obvious reasons right?

The bottom line is we are all hoping for a Cavan win.
A good Cavan performance is just as important regardless of the result.
We need to see that there is improvement, spirit, fight, togethernesses in this panel.
I'd be happy if they leave everything they have on the pitch.
Because it will be a marker to where we are at against strongest opposition we will have faced this year.

Replying To Loughduff Lad:  "You're the one who can't understand the way the game is played these days, and wanting to move out best player out of position. I've more than shown here I understand the game and the ways it's played. Sure you won't even watch the games these days, what would you know? You keep talking of a game the way it was played a generation ago. Get with the times old man"
I wouldn't even bother engaging at this stage two days out from the game. for some reason Cavan is full of people who prefer looking to the past than to the future, probably comes down to reading into our ulster record from a time that's long passed,
on to the game. The pace at which Donegal can play the game is the one thing that will be the deciding factor of the game. Cavan are fit, that's evident. mentally they should be resilient and there's a huge amount of motivation there. everyone with an opinion is talking about the motivation from Donegal's POV but Cavan have an awful lot too. Cavan won't want to be in the Tailteann cup that's for sure, they're plagued with ''fluke'' talk the last 16 months. the time couldn't be riper to reiterate their credentials. HOWEVER, 99/100 A team coming from the lowest division won't beat a division 1 team come championship as the gap can be vast.
Cavan always had an arrogance about them that was always problematic in all my time following but I always thought if its channelled correctly it can be potent.
Donegal should win this game but i wonder is all the revenge talk seeping in to the group, is it in their minds that 2020 shouldn't have happened and they didn't turn up etc and its just a matter of coming to clones to get the job done?? that can be a very dangerous mentality. if Donegal win this as much as people may laugh it could well be a springboard to an all ireland, a mental challenge overcame. the real moment they refocused.
micky will have a trick or three up his sleeve. but I don't mean shots in the dark. I'm looking forward to see how the murphy task is laid out, it wont be a tracking job for one man you can be sure of that.

Remember it's not rag ball rovers we are playing this weekend"
He is absolutely our best player, and moving him into a position that's not near his best strength is just ridiculous on your part. Especially when we see James Smith and Thomas Galligan go on there at times and do it effectively. But you'd sacrifice our best player for an unsuited role? Jeez...

But it's to avoid giving Donegal a free passage down the middle as he can't tackle and won't track his man… Even a blind man can see that these are his weaknesses but you can only visualise him kicking an odd wonder point … that's fine but when the opposition has the ball he is virtually hopeless…. By moving him closer to goal I am lowering the impact Donegal will have in the middle part of the field while increasing our chances of getting a goal or two…It's just my opinion and surely I'm entitled to that…!

Your right. I believe it's a tactic that could Reape benefits against Donegal. Also Brendan Mc Cole is suspect under a high ball. I feel he will start and they will keep McGee on the bench.
They are difficult to break down with lateral passing in front of their own 45.
If we get turned over there the speed of lads like Peader Mogan and Ryan McHugh will destroy us.
Despite the modern day tactics kicking balls into the full forward line can work. Maybe not all the time but it sure beats prancing around the middle third looking for openings that won't be there.
Was in not a high ball into the square in 2020 that Madden latched on to and scored the winning goal??

D day boys. Safe travels to all, and let's hope we get a result. The closer we get to throw in, the more cautiously optimistic I get. Donegal are favourites, but I think we'll turn up strong and be close. Bring it on!

Quick half time note.

Solid first half performance. The lads are 100% motivated and up for this one. We have absolutely been the better team in the opening half and the only thing keeping Donegal in this is easily scoreable frees. Unfortunately our dominance is not showing on the scoreboard, great save by Patton to deny Smith.

This will be a 1 or 2 point game, impossible to call.

That first goal killed us the ball fell kindly for them and that's the bit of luck you need in a tight match ,just been listening to that pat spillan he talks some bull trying to justify his comments pre match why Donegal would win and then letting everyone know he was right never mentioned the goal chances we had or the save by Patton absolute crap it's about time rte got rid of him and o'rourke.

Unlucky today, a very close game for the majority and a gutsy performance put in from the lads, 2 poor mistakes for the goals conceded, a stonewall penalty being denied in the first few minutes didn't help things either but a lot of positives to be taken from today. Paddy Lynch was superb, definitely the kind of player we've been lacking in recent years. Thomas Galligan put in a serious shift, thought the Gunner was very solid on McBrearty too
