Replying To ITSCHOLAR:  "Best of luck to the Carlow footballers tomorrow great result last week can't remember when we last beat Longford.

Team seem to enjoy hard ground where they can use there speed to attack at pace to get 2 wins from 3 is great and reward for the hard work of the players.

To finish off remember couple years ago been at a game we lost and someone saying it's a good thing we don't play New York or they'd beat us aswell guess Saturday will give us our answer if they will or not."
04 in tullamore I think, although we may drawn with them in the league after ?

Best of luck to the team tomorrow, I watched new York vs Leitrim on gaago they are fairly mobile but it would be hard to see them match us with football, a good start should see us through

We beat Longford in Championship in 2004 under Luke Dempsey & then ran the defending leinster Championship laois close in DCP in the q/t final. The place was packed for that game. Best of luck to the lads tomorrow. It won't be easy as we are the favourites & they have nothing to lose. I think our better footballers will get us through after a scrap. Will set up a tough q/t final but will be great to be there. Our hurlers are out the following weekend against the dubs so a good couple of weeks ahead for us.

We last beat Longford in the first round of the league in 2010 under Luke Dempsey during his second reign 1-10 to 10 points.

I hope the home venue is kind to Carlow at the full time whistle.

That was a dreadful first half from carlow. I've never seen a team miss so many short and easy handpasses. Running into contact so much and isolating themselves as well. Need to be more patient on the ball

A good win in the end. Much better second half after a poor opening half, I wonder how much of that was down to new York running out of gas? Still we will take it, when is the draw for quarters? Think I'd prefer meath away instead of cavan or antrim although that purely down to a shorter drive. It will take something special to make the semis

Well done to the footballers yesterday. Very poor in first half. On a positive when they upped the pace in the second half they played some good stuff. Imo they'll need to play at that level for the full match to have a chance. It's been a great summer for carlow gaa, hopefully we'll get a bit more. Ceatharlach Abu!

Be good to see you up in Belfast next weekend. It's a game we could both win...and both lose. Hopefully it'll be an entertaining affair. Our lads try to play the game in the right way so there'll be none of that oul pulling and dragging nonsense. Will Carlow bring many fans up?

A decent performance from the footballers against New York. The first half saw a lot of spilled passes, short ones and just sloppy stuff.
The heavy rain must have made it a lot more difficult to hold on to the ball as well.
As I saw ut New York just ran out if steam and our lads profited as a result limiting New Yirk to only a few scores in the second half

We certainly did quite well when we pushed up on their kick outs and perhaps that is something we might employ against Antrim on Sunday.
As a team we are definitely playing better football and a brand that suits the players.
Conor Doyke and Morrissey wa definitely worth trying at mid field and Doyle is getting better with every match.
The forwards created a few scoring chances and we should have had a goal but I suppose its easy to say that !
Antrim will be a huge step up but it's great for the players to have another game where they can test themselves.

I am bought we were awful in the first half and although much better in the second how much of that was down to New York being such a poor team? Still a win is a win, especially in the championship, and as a division 4 team I'm not too unhappy we were poor last Saturday as putting three good performances together would be highly unlikely given that inconsistency is the hallmark of any division 4 team. So very good against Longford, very poor for most part v New York so hopefully back to very good next Sunday. We'll need to be but if we play like we did v Longford we have a real chance of winning. Home advantage will be a big help to Antrim no doubt but while they did well in the group stages of the TC their league form in division 3 was quite poor and as we've seen there's not much difference between 3 and 4 when it comes to championship.

Great that it's on Sunday. Makes for a great weekend for Carlow gaels. Hurling at home Saturday then up early for a spin to Belfast. Hopefully lots will make the trip.

For the weekend lads do we have to buy tickets for kids u12?? Any game we attended this year in Dcp they were always free but for the Mcdonagh Final in Croker we had to buy tickets for the kids. Now they were only €5 but just wondering do we need to buy tickets for kids for the Dublin game or will they be let in as usual? Just worried as I'm hearing this could be close to a sell out especially now as they have massively reduced the capacity in Dcp. Same applies to Antrim as I'm hoping to make that also?

Mmmm thanks I suppose but … timeo Danaos et dona ferentes … which roughly translates as I'm very wary of that Wicklow shower when wishing us well. Hopefully ye're not planning another poaching expedition sponger!

Thanks sponger. We're up against it in both games but it's great to be there. Here's hoping for at least one positive result, either way both teams have done the jersey proud this summer. Ceatharlach Abu!

I think Carlow were outsiders in all McDonagh Cup games apart from Down and the first Offaly game with their changed team.

It will be a big step up but hopefully the lads can show what they can do with a big Carlow crowd behind them.

I see Conor Kehoe isn't listed on the 26 for tomorrow, has he gone abroad or picked up an injury?
