So how do we see the two finals going this weekend?

In the junior, I think Na Rossa will have too much for Moville. They have been making steady progress over the past couple of years and have a good bit of firepower that should see them take the honours. It's good to see smaller clubs get their day in the sunshine. It can't be easy to keep the show on the road with emigration and small numbers. I think it's been a good while since they lifted silverware so it'll be a big boost to the club and the community if they can manage to do it. Moville won't be easy though. They have some very good players like Danny Murphy, Enda Faulkner and Ciaran Diver. I'm not sure if the likes of McClenaghan and Malachy McDermott are involved, but if they were back for the final they'd be a big boost.

In the intermediate it should be a tight enough game. Very hard to predict. Both teams will feel that if they get things right on the day they'll be lifting the trophy. Malin were operating at senior level not so long ago whereas Downings will be looking to get back to the senior ranks for the first time since 93, when they last won the Intermediate. They played a memorable league final last year where if memory serves me one of the McGroddys blasted a last minute goal from a free kick to win it? In a very close encounter I'll give the Downings men the nod. It'll be a real sickener for the losing team. The intermediate would be our most competitive championship, and it's so hard to make the final.

Best of luck to all teams competing.

So should all football clubs be called their parish names? Might take a while to get used to calling St.Michaels Clondahorky or Dungloe Templcrone or St.Eunans Conwell and Leck etc

Most people aren't even familiar with a lot of the club names already as it is, let's not confuse things even more.

There is always players in every club that live on the borders of neighbouring clubs that could be disputed.
The players and family generally make the decision which club they play for.
An example is I have a newphew that could have played for 3 different clubs when choosing a club at underage.

But that wasn't your real point, it was another petty swipe at Naomh conail was your aim.

At least people on here have the guts to say what club they are with, unlike certain spineless clowns on here.

Cool down you play for the club you were born in or live in, no such thing as being able to play for 3 clubs. You seem pretty upset with my original point , maybe because it's true. I'm seldom wrong with my posts all are factual. Lol

Hi, St Mary's Convoy are playing in a final as well this weekend. There are three finals on not just two.

Templecrone … that's a great name.. is it something to do with a church/saint ?
Think St Connell is the patron saint of Iniskeel ..his monastic ruins on Iniskeel island off the coast. Recall walking out there with a cousin as a kid on holidays up there, overstaying our visit with the sea water up to our knees on our way back in. A local once told me that the English took custody of St Connell's bell and have it in the British museum, London. Another mission for Leo and the lads :)

Heard his mother from Na Rossa, was he surplus to St Connell's needs ? He apparently served them well and a lot of goodwill goes with him ….. am going by terrace talk at games.

The Junior B final is it vs Robert Emmetts? Yes good luck to all competing in that final as well.
Who is in the Intermediate reserve final?

Your generally wrong when it comes to football matters, the only person that believes you are right is that voice in your head, lol.

The Naomh conail player you are referring to, his Dad was a naomh conail man, and therefore wanted his son to play for the club he played for. Get over it, lol.

No one takes you seriously, you haven't the guts to name the club you are affiliated with. Mind you the club is probably over the moon.

Every team in the county has players that could possibly play for another club, it's the gaa.

Here is some knowledge for you, the first Donegal man to Win an All Ireland medal was a Naomh conail man.
Columba McDyer with Cavan in 1947.
So no surprise this great club continue to produce great footballers

Great story. Some interesting history behind a lot of parishes I would say. Think there is an old church near maghery that was called templecrone. I would say it stretched a lot of the rosses that parish. Maybe from Lettermacaward to Loughanure/Crolly. Not too sure myself.

Cheers. No matter what the level it's fantastic to win a county medal. Best of luck to all teams involved.

Knew about Columba mc Dyre lad, so you admit now that one of your players has never lived in the Iniskeel parish.. goes against the ethos of the gaa I think. As I say you play for the team you were born in or now live in. Nice to be proven right again. Lol

The fact is, you can play for any club you want to before U12. The Croke Park report stated that the boundaries in Donegal were not "legal" and they all needed to be redefined. This has led to the fact, that a player can play for any club they want before they play U12, which determines their first club. So a lad from Malin can travel and play with Ballyshannon if they choose. The boundaries saga has been running for years now and nothing has been done.
