Putrid stuff once again from the Ballyshannon Boardroom Boys. They could learn a thing or two from McCools in how to win a game. Thankfully we won't have to clap eyes on them again until next year.

Agreed, this type of football is terrible to watch and does nothing to develop players. Club football in the country appeared to have turned the corner with positive attacking football with Corofin, Dr Crokes, Ballyboden and St Brigids etc winning club titles but then Kilcoo unfortunately won one with a last minute goal. Corofin won 4 All Irelands by attacking, but managers have reverted to the Kilcoo rubbish, and send their teams out with the mantra, we'll try and win one nil.

Be interesting who takes KJ and if Neil is still out do GD have someone to battle with CJ?"
Likely Gary McFadden on KJ and I suppose if they are stuck Eamon could always go back and match up on CJ

Yea, Aodh Ruadh should have played man-to-man, 15 on 15, attacking football against Eunans! I'm sure that would have ended well for them!
As for you saying they could learn a thing or two from SmcC… don't MacCumhails have two of the best forwards in Donegal in their forward line… of course they're going to be a better attacking team than Aodh Ruadh. Not rocket science.

Corofin won those All Irelands playing 14 men behind the ball. They just so happened to have about 12 players that were of inter county standard, so they could break out of defense and attack at pace. It's hilarious when people try to claim that every club team should be playing an attacking style of football. They'd get beaten out the gate by the likes of Eunans every day of the week.
The Kerry county final was on tele 2 weeks ago, both Dr Crokes and Dingle playing 14 / 15 men behind the ball. It's 2023. Football has evolved. Nowadays every corner back is trying to get as deep into the attack to drag their man with them, meaning the other team inevitably has 14 men behind the ball.

It is hard to debate with a lad like you who think Corofin played defensive football, Corofin won their finals by 10 points, 15 points, 12 points and when Kilcoo decided to play in extra time by 8 points. That isn't the mark of a defensive team. Ballyboden won their final versus Castlebar by 13. The Ballymun v St Brigids final was a brilliant game, both teams going for it. Teams that play front foot football win the majority of the time.

Aodh Ruadh could have good forwards too but hard to tell if they are told to stay inside their own 45.

The difference with the two SMCs forwards you mentioned is that they stay up at all times. That's what makes them dangerous.

The Ballymun V Brigids game you've used as your reference was 10 years ago. As I said, football has evolved.
What does Corofin's winning margins have to do with their style of play? In 2012, Donegal beat Derry by 10 points, they beat Down in an Ulster final by 11 points, and scored 2-11 in an All Ireland final… I suppose they weren't defensive either? Sure they beat teams by big margins…? See how silly that is?
Corofin played large parts of every game with men back behind the ball but they were absolutely lethal in transition. Of course they were spectacular attacking, but they had an equally spectacular defensive setup. If you can't see that then you've got some sort of blinkers on.
Best of luck to 2013 Ballymun and Brigids playing that style of football against a defensive system like 2023 Kilmacud Crokes / Glen nowadays. They'd be beaten out the gate as they'd cough up way too much possession.

glenties v eunans semi final looks like they are trying to make it as hard as possible for NC to win it

I knew I shouldn't have got into a debate with a lad with your thought process. They beat every so called kingpin of club football bar Crossmaglen who didn't cross their path, Nemo Rangers, Dr Crokes and St Vincents, they played sublime attacking football, if you think that was defensive, I'd like to hear how you'd characterise an attacking club team, by naming them (perhaps they are in Monaghan). Every respected analysist and media contributor says they were the best club football team of all time. It will take some team to do 4 in a row.

Anyway back Donegal club football.

I went to Fintra. Credit to NC. They just keep getting better. Anybody at Falcarragh. Must a been open football?

Interesting semi draw.

Glenties v Eunans I'd presume will be kept for Sunday and McCools will have home advantage Saturday night.

Agree, to Retain Dr Maguire we are going to have to do it the hard way. Incredible character in our team. We can play defensive football there is no doubt but when we need to go for the juggler we are not found wanting. Another titanic battle to come next weekend.

I think NC V St Eunans will make a better semi final than final if that makes any sense, should be a great contest, I think both semis are a coin flip but if I had to pick I think it will be a GD v NC final, could be wrong though!!

I think that is a little unfair, from memory St. Eunans and Aodh Ruadh both looked to play lads who had played in the states. McGettigan for St Eunans and McCready for Aodh Ruadh, both outstanding players, the county board said no. AR then didn't select McCready, Eunan's took a chance and played Leslie, they won by a point and the Ballyshannon men asked for it to be reviewed by the county board and the only mechanism open to them was "an objection". They obviously felt they had a solid case and both the county board and later the Ulster council agreed. St Eunans had no other appeal at the time as the DRA didn't exist. It remains a great discussion point at bar stools around the county and now on blogs and forums. It is a bit like the Saipan debate, with people in the Keane or McCarthy camp.

What happened in Fintra that resulted in Kevin Campbell & Eoin Waide getting red cards? Just seen the Donegal Live Article what Regan said and looks like NC will appeal it:
"I think he was the victim in that case. He's adamant he didn't do anything. Absolutely, we will look at it."

Unfortunately you're dragging me down to your level here. If you can't see that Corofin played large parts of every game with 14+ behind the ball, then you're living in cuckoo land. I agree that they're the best club team of all time. It's hilarious that you think the greatest club team of all time didn't have an incredible defensive system to go with their incredible way of attacking.

They were both as guilty as each other and merited the reds.

I see Bonner is going to appeal his son's red card as well.

Who'd be a ref eh?

I was at the game and witnessed the altercation if NC have access to video evidence, which I have heard they have then E Waide will be available next weekend as he was undoubtedly the victim.

I'd say MacCumhaills GD might be Sunday in ODP and Saturday night lights for the other game.
