Davis took over for the 2019 season.

Denis Connerton was manager in 2018, coming 3rd and missing out on promotion in the final game against fermanagh

Ah here lads, that minor result last night has to be a typo on the County website?
Is it supposed to be 1-23 instead of 11-23??

Unfortunately it was not a typo. I was at the game and it could easily have been 20 goals had the lads not elected to take a point instead. Is it the clubs themselves who decide what level they play at? If it is, then surely Western Gaels should have elected to play in the B Championship.

You are right, Denis Connerton stepped down after the 2018 championship exit and Davis was appointed a few months later, so his first League would have been 2019 and his last one was 2021.

... and the losing side was two clubs!!! Clonguish will run the table again this year in underage to make it 3 in a row Minor, 4 in a row Juvenile and 4th U-14 in 5 years, and it won't end there. Impressive.

They'll probably do that to most teams in the championship

God that's a huge beating Ballymahon got conceding 11 goals. Surely they are better than that and it won't be any good for clonguish either other than improve their score difference massively.

If someone told me 20 years ago that I would take no enjoyment out of giving Ballymahon an annihilation I would have said they were mad. Yesterday was a dark day for Longford football. To see one of our largest towns put out a senior team that would struggle against our minors was sad. I hope this is the wake up call clubs and county board need to change the structures. The same will keep happening

It's been said for the last 2 years or so on here by a few posters including myself on how to improve the leagues and championships. The problem is, there are word given for votes on the board in the promise that there is no change to the format. And I hold my hand up and say that my club got a hand one year from the Cashel club when they put forward the increase of numbers in the senior championship back in the noughties. But the CB did not see the warning signs from the Killashee debacle, but the result this weekend is even more embarrassing for them. And it's good enough for them.

To the County Board - IT'S TIME YOU REDUCED THE NUMBER OF 'SENIOR' CLUBS IN LONGFORD. 21 CLUBS IN THE COUNTY AND YOU BOYS THINK 12 OF THEM ARE 'SENIOR'. OVER 50% OF THE CLUBS IN LONGFORD ARE SENIOR. WAKE UP LADS!!!!

Mullinalaghta let it slip there what was keeper at the end frustration but shouldn't be letting goal in there . Nothing between thought mullinalaghta had it but two big games that have beaten with last kick of games.

Surprised to see Abbey gone so early, nothing to play for in that group now this weekend. Killoe already have topped the group.

I think they are just playing for positions now. Colmcille and ratcline shootout for 3rd/4th.

Colmcille also could claim second if they could better mullinalaghta's scoring difference

We're all blue in the face saying that CB needs to re-balance the 3 championships. The current system exists because delegates (from many parts) voted to put personal or clubs interest above what's good for the game in Longford. To change it now would cause some who think they are staying senior to drop down, and some who think they are going up to stay put. The usual lobbying and influencers will prevent that. So we are stuck in a cycle of clubs who can't compete at Senior staying up and others getting promoted, drubbed and pulling out. It's a joke and the damage done to Ballymahon from that debacle at the weekend will be significant.

On the field, still no more than a kick of a ball between Mullinalaghta and Killoe. First time since 2015 that Killoe beat Mullinalaghta in the championship, and it was smash and grab in 4th minute of injury, so still neck and neck! Granard are flying and Colmcille are finding their feet nicely. A few more twists and turns left and knockouts is always a horse of a different colour.

You'd have to imagine Mull will beat Carrickedmond though. Should be more of a reward for teams topping the group. Maybe they go straight into a semi. And teams 2 and 3 play off two q-finals!

The team topping the group does get rewarded by playing the team who finishes 4th in the other group.
