Just one to get you thinking....within your own club what players that played a bit of senior football but then either left or packed it in that would have been a great addition to your club.
For instance, a young talented underage player comes up through the ranks, plays a year or 2 at senior but then leaves, whether through a transfer, travelling or just retiring.

Replying To LongfordgaaAbú:  "Some County Boards (Offaly, Meath, Clare) seemingly didn't update their championship regulations to reflect the new rule and some of their clubs are now challenging the application of the new rule. I assume Longford avoided that mess by adopting the new rule, but then bizarrely introduced a bye-law to override the section where overall score difference is counted, and then seemed completely unprepared when their bye-law needed to be invoked!! And as for any of us knowing what our championship rules are.... forget about it! I wish they would publish them online each year. It is such an easy thing to do. Someone enjoys the power of having that info to themselves a little too much. Hardly surprising given the personnel in question.

Social media updates are poor, in both frequency and format. Again, easy to fix."
That is a cheap and untrue accusation you are casting on members of the board there. Any opportunity you get you are on here bad mouthing them and in particular what is online. If someone didn't know any better they would begin to think you had an ulterior motive.

Had Killoe rested anyone against Abbeylara in their laast group game?
Big wins also for Longford Slashers and Clonguish bto secure quarter final spots.
Looking forward to the quarter finals now. Can we expect a suprise anywhere?

Seems someone doesn't like CB being criticised for anything CCCC related. Hmmm.

Intermediate championship opened up nicely too.

I had thought Ardagh/moydow would get to a final this year, but not it seems as though they won't even make the knockouts.

If Cashel manage to defeat their neighbours this weekend, they won't be scared of playing top seeds Connollys in a semi final, and fr manning Gaels will want redeem themselves against kenagh. Killashee could also miraculously make a semi final if they can beat Cashel.

We've been lucky enough down through the years not to have lost too many players. I suppose in recent years the 2 McLoughlin brothers would have been a big addition. Before that in the noughties Anthony Corcoran emigrating was a loss to our back line. When we were a sole junior club in the 90s we lost our 2 most promising players coming through with Enda Flynn and Lorcan Barden moving to clubs in Dublin and Kildare. We won the Junior League and Championship about 2 or 3 years after those 2 lads left with the likes of the McIntyre brothers, Stephen Donoghue, Enda Barden and Luke McGuinness making the step up from minor.

Lorcan Barden, what an athlete he was. He had one of the best leaps off the ground I have ever seen.

Enda came back years later and played a bit for the club but I don't know where Lorcan ever ended up. He was on the Kildare squad in 93 and was involved in the half time tunnel bust up with the Dubs. He played for Round Towers down there but I don't think he was on the panel when they won the championship in 96. He obviously went on to pastures new but where I could not tell you!! I was very young when he played with us but I remember seeing him play a game in Pearse Park in 91 and he was head and shoulders above everyone else that day.

It is a public forum and you should know better than to come on making false accusations semi anonymously

I have not seen him in years. I never got to see Pat play but they say Lorcan was better again. A massive loss not just for the club but for the county.

I think he was in college with Glen Ryan and that is how he came about playing for Round Towers. It just looks like he packed in football altogether after 93, he probably would have been 21/22 at the time.

There's a link on an old Hoganstand article about Peter McConnon and it mentions Barden and Ryan.
There's nothing else on the internet after that about him, so it's like he stepped away from football.
Did he also play for the 89 or 90 Mel's team?
I think we came up against him in a few games while playing for Moyne.

Yes he was the outstanding player on the Mels team of 1990. There were great battles between Mels and Moyne in those couple of years. It's hard to imagine now that two Longford schools were once the best in Leinster!

I may be wrong but I think Lorcan Barden emigrated to Australia not long after that 92 final.

Killoe - Just about. As bad as Slashers are they always seem to give Killoe a good game.

Colmcille- I must admit I thought Colmcille might not make it out of the group. They'll come through this tie. Granard took a bad beating last time out and will not get out of the rut.

Dromard - I think Dromard by about 2. Could be the game of the weekend.

Mullinalaghta - The weather is supposed to be not good for the weekend. If it was dry I would actually lean towards a Clonguish upset. But with the bad weather and that bit of experience I think will be enough to see Mulinalaghta through.

I hope that last prediction has not wound up one or two lads on here lol

Not a chance of Mullinalaghta losing to Clonguish, Slashers always raise their game for Killoe and the park too
