Replying To liosbreac6265:  "We are a Division 4 county so a low standard is not very surprising. Most if not all the intermediate teams would be junior or junior b in most other counties. To the real stuff starting this weekend I see wins for Killoe, Mullinalaghta, Granard, Dromard, Abbeylara and Clonguish"
I fancy a shock from Colmcille, the wet evening could suit them. They weren't county champions for no reason.

Only a point between them in good conditions exactly a month ago in the league.

Killoe were missing a lot that day.
Colmcille also threw away a big lead as well and lost it with the last kick of the game.
Killoe will win by at least 6 points tonight.

Killoe had already topped the group and Colmcille were already relegated so that game was meaningless. It would be great for the championship if Colmcille could show that Killoe were beatable by another team other than Mullinalaghta but I can't see it.

Colmcille were not already relegated, they had every chance of staying up at the time with a win.

I'm not sure but if that was the case that makes it worse from a Colmcille viewpoint for this evening. They were trying when Killoe were already through and were still beaten at home.

I think you need to look back on that again. Colmcille were not relegated before that game.

Clear from tonight's game that Colmcille are a flash in the pan. Killoe's bench was staked tonight with 3/4 players to come into that team if they wish.

I went over to see the game in Newtown. As predicted, Killoe won playing in second gear. Colmcille have to be up there with been one of the worst defending County Champions I have seen in my lifetime. I predicted them to scrape through into the quarters but I'm thinking Rathcline could very well pip them for the last spot.

As expected Killoe won in a stroll. There was no threat from a lifeless Colmcille. Awful from county champions. I agree that Rathcline could pip them

Weird one I thought. Killoe definitely deserved to win but I wouldn't have been sure of a winner until the black card in the middle of the second half. Killoe only kicked a single point between the 13th minute and the 7th minute of the second half. That's nearly 25 minutes with single point. Not that particularly impressive.

Colmcille absolutely awful, the worst county champions we've seen in a long time. Killoe not that impressive up front but with Cian Dooner to come back into a starting spot they are surely favourites to win it all.

Looking like a 2 horse race between ourselves and Connollys for the Intermediate. Cashel were very poor last night. I was expecting more from them considering they drew with Kenagh in the first round, but Kenagh been hammered by Connollys shows where they are at.

Hopefully the two teams are kept apart until the final for everybody's sake

Was reasonably impressed with Rathcline against Mullinalaghta considering they were missing Iarla O sullivan , Shane Kenny and Richard Prior. And Liam Connerton has transferred to St Judes too. They were a match for Mullinalagtha for 45 mins but conceded 2 shocking goals in the final 15 mins which the stronger teams never do. I still think its a toss up between Killoe and Mullinalaghta.

Summary of weekend is that Mullinalaghta are still solidly on course to add to their silverware, Killoe still the biggest challenge to them but still not convinced they have the stomach (or scores) under pressure, and Clonguish might have a few more surprises in store before it's all over. Killoe-Rathcline on Sunday will be interesting.

I think Killoe are still the pick of the bunch.

Although Mullinalaghta are hard beaten and can't be written off, Matthews, Rian Brady and Keegan are massive losses that will probably leave them short.

Still a long way to go, and there will surely be a few twists and turns yet.

As said above it's probably between Killoe and Mullinalaghta this year. Both had convincing wins. Dromard will be there or thereabouts. Clonguish had a great win, considering they have 5 lads to come back into that team yet.

Clonguish missing 5, not too many of them would be starters I would say. Slashers down 2 of their best with Daire O'Brien suspended and Sean Clarke injured and they also lost Dermot Brady very early. Tadhg McNevin also only coming on, I think Slashers and Clonguish are just not at the level of Killoe or Mullinalaghta.
