Wasn't at the game today but listen with John & Martin. Didn't sound the best game in the world but one Leitrim
Controlled from start to finish. Score difference of +15 is very good after 1 game. Can't see the other teams beating them by as much or at least not by much more. Jack Gilheaney going off injured is a concern and apart from Ryan and Darragh Rooney our forwards are just workers with very little end product. Need to add another 1 or 2 forwards maybe Mark Plunkett and Paul Keaney will come in. Riordan O'Rourke isn't Good enough to win his own ball. I don't think we will be in the promotion hunt but if Andy can convince a certain forward to come back on board we will have a chance.

We see how the next couple of games go... London will be a tougher test and Wexford a tougher one again after that. We'll talk again after that but I would echo the OP's sentiments. However for once in a long time, we've 4 home games which is a positive.

We have 3 home games: London, Wexford and Tipperary

And 4 away games: Waterford, Carlow, Longford and Laois

I could be wrong but did Riordan O'Rourke not score 1 goal and 1 point at the weekend not bad for a lad that can not win his own ball. I believe winning his own ball is a real strength of Riordan and it is well recognized around the county by real gaa people. Give the kid a break and stop picking out individual's and having a go at them. the great footballer in the stand thinks he knows it all, but i think I'm correct in saying you were not even in the stand.

You're right... my bad. The Longford game is as good as a home game anyhow. Anyhow we'll see how we go in the next couple of games.

He was the one left inside and I am not having a go at him. I should have clarified by saying I'd have Ryan inside instead but Roirdan would be a starter as he's a very hard working player and tracks his man where ever he goes. I just don't think he has that gink or dummy that Ryan has which brings others into play. I am not a poster that criticise's players I have the upmost respect for the sacrifices these young men make

I am glad you clarified that

Leitrim beat Waterford by 16 points at home last season. 15 points this season away. Both first game of season. Waterford lost other games by 4, 6, 8, 9, 11. Leitrim probably doing better pre season training. Waterford will improve like last season and I think nobody will beat Waterford by more than 15 points so it was a good result and score difference could help. It is a positive start but no different from last season. Last season, struggled to beat a London team with 14 men for a long period. Won't be easy but should win by 2-3 points at home this year. Round 3 last year against Wexford Away where Leitrim lost was a big blow. This year at home. A win would be a massive boost to promotion chances.

Waterford are the worst team in the division. For the remaining games they'll play a blanket defence to keep the margin of defeats down to single digits.

London are struggling for scores 12 points max is their average in pre season and at home to Wexford and Leitrim at home will score more than that this weekend.

For once I am not overly worried about London, for me the Wexford game will decide our fate.

I'd be cautious in saying we'll have it handy with London but I agree, lose to Wexford and I think we'll be done. Wexford are the bookies 2nd favourites to be promoted.

Beating Wexford will go a long way to gaining promotion but we need to win the games we are expected too

No doubt... nothing but potential banana skins afterwards if we do manage to beat Wexford never mind London. It will be a hard slog.

London will be a tight siege, rain forecast so Carrick will be heavy (as usual). great to see Rooney doing well last week. we need more options up front. someone mentioned earlier about Riordan O'Rourke, i would be uncertain about him in a Leitrim jersey, i just don't think he has it. but hopefully he proves me wrong. best of luck to them, bank holiday weekend so hopefully lots get out and support them.
