Decent and competitive in the 1st half and two big calls didn't go our way on the goal and penalty not given.

Even 1st half it was clear we were going to concede a big score tonight so unless we improve on the area it will be certain relegation and main question I'd have is can that improvement done without our two top coaches from last year?

Time and again in this league campaign there seems to be a lack of concentration or just not clued into the system, where by runners by the opposition are not tracked and they get relatively easy scores. Not having a settled squad probably doesn't help.

Dublin had 6 wides in first half and we had 2 albeit overhit passes. Dublin fully deserved the win and definitely upped their game from the first two league matches. Thought we were unlucky not to get a penalty in first half (Fitzpatrick pushed in the back) and also Creggs disallowed goal should have stood but in fairness very difficult for umpire to see Dublin players hand palm it into goal. Big learning curve for a lot of our young players. Best for Ros was Higgins, Enda and Daire Cregg. Brian Stack and McCormack also very good. Hopefully injuries can clear up and we get our first win back in the Hyde next weekend

Only lost by seven. Not the hiding that was expected. Enough pints to be picked up in remaing 4 matches to ensure survival.

I understand we are down a lot of numbers but the defensive setup is a shambles, we have every one back just for the sake of it and not defending in packs. The minute the dubs upped in the second half we fell apart. It needs calling out again re D Murtagh playing chf is not working. It was summed up by him trying to chase kilkenny in our own fb line. I am just hoping going forward with the return of harney and o rourke etc and that our fitness levels might still be off, but am the moment it's worrying.

Brian Stack wasn't near very good tonight. Looks like a player that needed extended break after a long club season he also looks like he's carrying a knock and was slow to turn and react on Con O'Callaghan whom he's marked before and Con didn't cause the same type of damage.

I agree the Cregg goal should have stood, the kind of incident where the umpires needs to help out the ref but didn't seem to be paying attention.

It's probably win or burst for roscommon next week v Monaghan, they'll be on a revenge mission after clones last year.

Umpires are there to help the referee. Positioning is key and so many couldn't get into position if they had a sat nav and a compass!
Huge game against Monaghan. Lose and we will be plying our trade in div 2. Monaghan getting badly beaten today was the only positive. Could be a season defining game

It is if we are to have any realistic chance of staying up. I'm not too downbeat about last night. Dublin played some lovely football albeit that their shooting was off at times. Roscommon have some fine young players coming through- Daire Cregg, Ruairi Fallon, Cathal Heneghan. We're missing players at the moment and we can't afford that. We need Harney and O'Rourke back at midfield where we struggled last night. Brian Stack struggled on Con O'Callagan who was excellent. We have 4 weeks between our final league game v Derry and the Mayo game in Hyde Park. Let's hope we can have our strongest team available against Mayo in the Connacht semi final. If we have, that's a match Roscommon can win.

OK I rechecked stats, we're both wrong Dublin hit 7 wides first half and one very short to the goalie.

If we are all honest I think we have taken steps backwards this year. Very frustrating to watch. Just watching mayo last night and the physicality they brought compared to what we brought yesterday. Few lads not near strong enough and one lad pulling out of a 50/50 ball . We look all over the place right now.

With all the injuries it was an impossible task to win last night. With the players we have some don't look fit and it's obvious that they're carrying knocks. Not impressed with our managers off the cuff talk about 65 training sessions and need to be out tomorrow morning with the full panel.Ridiculous carry on. Keep the mouth closed and focus on the basics of the game. I'm sure the usual cheerleaders of mediocrity will come to his defence.

Should we go all out for Connacht and let the AI group stages be what they will?

Roscommon are clearly not going well at the moment but the hope has to be that we'll peak for the championship. May or may not happen. We were topping division 1 this time last year but ran out of steam in the Summer against ordinary Kildare and Cork teams and didn't get past the last 12 in the All Ireland series. We don't want that again. This season, Davy's second in charge, will be judged a failure if Roscommon don't at least reach an All Ireland quarter final in my view anyway.

I was more concerned with the Galway performance than that last night. You would hope a combination of injuries and timing their peak are explaining some of the underperformance. Collective defending is definitely a worry though. But correct, summer is where the manager will be judged. When you consider how limply we bowed out last year and to look at that Cork team now, a few more bad results and they are in Tailteann which is crazy to think.

I don't know that we're that we've gone back that far we have to acknowledge as well that division 1 is much tougher this year with Derry and Dublin coming up - 4 of our points last year were off the two relegated teams Donegal who were in total disarray and Armagh who were poor -
We beat Galway 9 points to 8 last year and drew 9
Points apiece this year we beat Tyrone last year arguably because we were fitter and had more work done than them done - clearly management are trying something different this year
Beat Monaghan next week and we move above them in the league the Monaghan team that all were raving about a few weeks ago after they looked good beating a disinterested Dublin team
It's a very fickle competition I wouldn't worry too much about it we might still come out of it with 5 + points and stay up

Wouldn't be paying much attention to manager talk directly after a defeat with the camera stuck in their face. Saying that I'm not sure where he came up with the 65 training sessions as we haven't done close to that number on the field since the panel returned in November, Has been a panel in the mid 30s and due to Brigids involved in club action, college football and injuries we have done sessions at times with about 20 players and understandably it's hard to work on strategies.

Clearly we aren't helped to be without Niall Daly,Tadgh O'Rourke,Ultan Harney,Donie Smith,Andy Glennon,Ben O'Carroll,Keith Doyle and Ronan Daly however regardless of who's missing you still need a structure to the team especially defensive however last night we were all over the place with a number of players not knowing what role they were playing and who they were meant to be marking.

As another poster said Monaghan getting badly beaten was the only positive I'm not so sure about that? might have been better if they lost narrowly as now will likely come with a more defensive set up to Hyde Park and if they do it will be harder for us to win with the way are defending as team at the moment.

I wonder is that 65 sessions since he has taken charge last year? There's no way we have come close to that figure this year alone. I'd be slightly worried about his demeanour after the game last night. He looked to be under a lot of pressure and not in the best of humour. Never easy to show the bright side after a defeat but I just thought he looked a shadow of his normally positive self. I hope all is OK in the camp and things aren't turning sour so early in the season. Monaghan match is huge next weekend. Will take a massive effort but with Donie back and hopefully a few more lads back from injury, there is no reason why we can not get the two points. Even last night after a poor display we still could and should have had 2 more goals on the score sheet. I'm hoping that it might just be a few mind games from Davy and that we've not trained near as hard as last year and he's just trying to have them peak later in the summer. Ros Comáin abú

Davy Burke seems to like doing interviews and saying things that draw attention. Never a good sign and his calling out of players is embarrassing. Only going to end one way.

Kevin McStay isn't media shy either in fairness. Davy Burke is a young and relatively inexperienced Manager and that's sometimes overlooked. His only previous senior inter county experience was with Wicklow . He may well be feeling the pressure because Roscommon are not playing well and tonight are rooted to the bottom of Division 1. Both Kevin McStay and Davy Burke will be judged though on how their teams perform in June not February.
