Tyrone Vs Donegal

Replying To tyroneed:  "Donegal have had the measure of Tyrone for the last few years and whilst I hope it's not the case this time, it's hard to see how it won't be.

For Tyrone to have any chance Patton's kickouts need to be contested, also need to concede no goals, also need to score a goal or two, and keep Murphy, Mc Brearty, Mc Hugh and Brennan quiet. It's a very tall order."
Tyrone have a sharp inside forward line and Donegal have a shaky full back line, whether Tyrone are able to get good ball in or not might be the key for both sides.

Donegal by 5 points. Tyrone not ready for this due to injuries. Brilliant to see Mc Shane back but he would have needed another month before meeting Donegal.

Replying To Lockjaw:  "I'm not too confident to be honest for a number of reasons...

- Tyrone under new management need a "statement" win
- We have had the upper hand in recent times but that never lasts long. Tyrone are due a win against us.
- McNamee suspension overturned. An area that we might have targeted and profited from is now back to full strength.
- Murphy isn't fit
- We have looked porous at the back and casual/sloppy in possession
- McCurry and McShane will cause problems that I don't think our current defense can deal with

I have a very ominous feeling that Tyrone could inflict a heavy defeat on us that will spell the end of the Bonner/Rochford era.

Obviously hope that I am complete and utterly wrong with the above."
Spot on, Tyrone are due a win against us, we have Murphy trying to play on one leg, our defence is dodgy, we are in very patchy form, we should really be out but we got a bit of luck against Derry,
Hope we can find some decent form on Sunday.

You pretty sum up my feelings too Lock. I have had that same ominous feeling for days and tonight's under twenties game in Enniskillen done nothing to change it. The deal breaker is Murphy and his fitness. I just cannot see him improving it enough in the intervening days. Like you I really hope I am wrong.

I'd tend to agree, Donegal have been fantastic within Ulster for the last decade, without really impacting the All Ireland series the past 5 years or so; but apart from Tyrone getting to a final after beating Monaghan, Ulster as a whole haven't made an impact since 2014.

Donegal are still Division 1 and I'd class them well within the top 8 but I don't see them as strong as they were 18 months ago, Tyrone will as always be prepared and Donegal will be given a lot of respect.

For me though Cavan beat them last season, Derry should have won last week but Tyrone will get a big result and that will be a "statement" more about where Donegal currently sit as much as where Tyrone may be going.

Tyrone by 5 plus

You could make the same argument for every county/province aside from Dublin.

The more I think of it I'm going to back a Tyrone Monaghan double,
the tragic news in Monaghan last night sure put things in perspective lads.

Enjoyable game so far. Dublin Joe has made a few very harsh calls on tyrone there in the second half especially McGearys black card. Looked like the donegal player ran into him.

Tyrone comfortable enough winners in the end. Another non performance from Bonners side in a big KO game. Must be time for a change.

Losing Neil McGee and Murphy was too much of an ask. McMenamin and McFadden-Ferry are not up to standard really.

Dublin/Kerry/Mayo/Monagahan/Armagh would have demolished us by 10/15 scores

Monaghan v Kerry will be a good match.

Funny how Tyrone only kicked on when they were reduced to 14 players. You often see that, how losing a man wakens a team up

Donegal nowhere near it. Some great players but that defence is pretty awful.

Bonner has to go unfortunately.

Dublin/Kerry/Mayo/Mongahan/Armagh would have beaten us by 10/15 points.

Monagahan V Kerry will be a tight Semi:p

A great weekend for the Ulster championship, competitive but full of quality. By far the best championship and one now that's very attacking in nature.

Good win's for Tyrone and Monaghan; should be a great final and great effort from Armagh and Donegal this weekend.

Derry look to be improving, Armagh are certainly nearly there and Tyrone/Monaghan look to have reacted to new management teams. For Donegal still there or thereabouts but I think it may be a few years before we see another Donegal Ulster Championship winning team.

After watching the two games this weekend, whilst Kerry will be strong favourites (they should beat Cork) and my favourite to win the All Ireland; their All Ireland semi against the Ulster champions will be more interesting than I thought previously. We're so fortunate the Ulster Championship still exists; what a competition!

Always thought bonner was holding Donegal back for the last few years. Tyrone were poor enough in the second half with a man up. A Dublin or kerry would have went for the kill but tyrone didn't.
