I agree about Bonner, great player and a great Donegal man but these lads need a new manager that knows what he's at fast.
I wonder would Jim come back in to lead us again, has to be tempting for him with the talent we have but he doesn't like the CB politics."
I've been reading this forum for years but I needed to vent. No doubt they massive energy Bonner has put in and he's a likeable chap and credit due for bringing in guys where he's weak like Rochford but he isn't a top 4 intercounty manager in today's game. Jim seems hellbent on a soccer career in one of his most recent podcast appearances. It's a pity he couldn't manage Murphy at the tail end of his intercounty career. We'd be all the better for it.

2018 League, 2017 Championship.

Hardly that long for either.

They beat us in the first year of the Super 8s in Ballybofey, was our first loss there in a long time.

I am worried for Sunday as we have been up and down all year. I just want to see Odhrán start on Sunday as I think he will make a big difference for us.

Tyrone beat Donegal in 2018 Super 8s when Donegal capitulated.

Replying To Lockjaw:  "Think they did in 2019 alright. But that was a weird game in that we got away from Tyrone quite early in that match and sort of held them at arms length comfortably enough. The match-ups will be interesting for sure. McCurry looks in great nick, can see Stephen McMenamin getting that job and McGee on McShane if he starts,"
Mc Gee took mc kenna that day. Stevie took Mc Shane.

McKenna was still in Australia in 2019.

I'd say he means Mc Shane and Mc Fadden was helping Mc Gee out also

Looking forward to this game and i think we will see the provincial winner from this tie.
Wouldn't surprise me if it went to extra time, its really that hard to call.

Think I'll stick 20 yoyos on the draw, I make Tyrone slight favs with the bad form we've been in, all depends who plays better on the day, not long to wait now.

Donegal have had the measure of Tyrone for the last few years and whilst I hope it's not the case this time, it's hard to see how it won't be.

For Tyrone to have any chance Patton's kickouts need to be contested, also need to concede no goals, also need to score a goal or two, and keep Murphy, Mc Brearty, Mc Hugh and Brennan quiet. It's a very tall order.

For Donegal to win we need to somehow keep Mc Curry, Donnelly, Mc Shane, Mc Kenna, Donaghy and Canavan out. Our D looks poor so far this year so it will be a massive ask.

I also think Tyrone will be able to shut down our main attackers. Brennan and Mc Brearty will be well watched and we will struggle to score.

We need others to step up. Be great to win 5 in a row vs Tyrone but they are due a win vs us.

It's an interesting game because neither team were overly impressive in the league. Both have a point to prove and need to announce themselves really for the year as to whether they will have a say in the championship overall. The new management in Tyrone need to prove their value while Donegal management is possibly on thin ice to some degree. So it's fascinating stuff. I expect one of the few really intriguing provincial games here.

Neither Tyrone or Donegal have shown me that they will be able to compete with Dublin/Kerry this season. That said this is a bit like the old days in Ulster sudden death and the winners no good thing for the final. My heart says Tyrone but both teams have a lot to overcome just to get out of Ulster.

I'm not too confident to be honest for a number of reasons...

- Tyrone under new management need a "statement" win
- We have had the upper hand in recent times but that never lasts long. Tyrone are due a win against us.
- McNamee suspension overturned. An area that we might have targeted and profited from is now back to full strength.
- Murphy isn't fit
- We have looked porous at the back and casual/sloppy in possession
- McCurry and McShane will cause problems that I don't think our current defense can deal with

I have a very ominous feeling that Tyrone could inflict a heavy defeat on us that will spell the end of the Bonner/Rochford era.

Obviously hope that I am complete and utterly wrong with the above.

Does the 5 in a row include league games? In the championship Donegal beat tyrone in 2018, they didn't play each other in 2019 and they beat tyrone in 2020, at least I think that's how it has been. Since 2015 tyrone have beaten Donegal twice in the championship while Donegal have won three times.
