Well I meant it was relatively high compared to our usual underage returns, but I'm glad you've brought this up because it's also relatively high compared to Meaths underage success over the same period. I'll take our 1 u20 all Ireland over your 0 at any age.

Kildare are 5 points better than Meath???. Well kildare have played Meath 3 times in the last 2 half years. Meath won 2 out of 3 games and lost the other by 3 points. I don't know where you get this 5 point better team. Why not 6 or 7 or 4 or 3 or 2. Why 5?. Meath have beaten kildare twice in the last 2 years and were fully deserved winners in both games. Meath dominated the second half v kildare in 2019 and 2020. Meath kept kildare to 1 point in the second half in 2019, and that point was from a free. Meath kept kildare scoreless from play in the second half in 2019. Two Second Halves Meath v kildare 2019 & 2020 2019 2nd half Score : Meath 1 - 4 kildare 0 - 1 2020 2nd half Score: Meath 5 - 6 kildare 0 - 5 So in both second halves in 2019, 2020 both games Meath won, Meath scored 6 - 10 kildare scored 0 - 6. Yet kildare are 5 points better???. . Meath have beaten kildare twice in last 2 years. Meaths have beaten kildare in leinster semi final in the last 8 months, which was Meaths biggest win over kildare in league or Championship since 1964 and the second biggest winning margin for Meath over kildare ever. Kildare rarely beat Meath in Navan ( just 4 times in the last 100 years, in the years 1997, 2011 twice and 2017 ) and Meath rarely win in Newbridge v kildare ( Meath haven't beaten kildare in Newbridge since 1990s). Croke Park in semi finals favour Meath. Meath have won the last 3 leinster semi finals v kildare in Croke Park in 2012, 2014 and 2020. Meath have only lost to kildare twice in leinster semi final in Croke Park in the last 100 years, in the years 1971 and 2003. Regards the game in Newbridge kildare were deserved winners. Kildare did feel humiliated by 5 goals hammering last year and kildare were really up for this game. Both teams had injury issues kildare had Hyland and Flynn. But Meath had 8 players injured for full 70 mins. They were Keoghan, Menton, Newman J McEntee, Newman, Jones, Walsh, J Conlon and O Connor. 6 of them.are first team starters. Menton and Keoghan going off injured within ten minutes were huge loses. And you could see yesterday the difference a fit Keoghan, Menton, J McEntee, Newman and J Conlon had for Meath. J McEntee and J Conlon from the bench scored 1 - 4. I am not saying Meath would have won without this injuries, kildare deserved to win. My point is there is little between the teams. And kildare are 5 point better than Meath, makes no sense. Meath have beaten kildare twice in the last 2 years and deservedly so and kildare won by 3 points. In that game Meath kept scoreless for last 15 mins, as two brillant saves from kildare goalkeeper stopped the game heading towards extra time. Kildare are 5 points better than Meath doesn't make sense. The the form guide doesn't not indicate kildare are 5 points better eitheir. In last 2 years Meath have beaten Armagh by 6, kildare drew with Armagh. Kildare have lost to Clare 3 times in last 5 years. Meath have beaten Clare 4 times in last 4 years by scores as large as 18 and 11. Tyrone and Donegal hammered kildare by 14 and 10 points in last 3 years. Meath were unlucky to lose by 1 point to Tyrone and 2 points to Donegal twice. Tyrone, Donegal, Kerry, Mayo and Galway have struggled to beat Meath recently by a point or 2. Meath drew with Monaghan in Clones and lost by 4 points to Dublin in league last year. Kildare havent had such performances. I know kildare weren't playing these teams. Both kildare and Meath have played Clare , Armagh, Tyrone and Donegal recently and Meath have done much better. Meath and kildare have two good manager or at the same level with a lot of good young players. Both have had underage sucess recently. Meath are just after winning their third under 17 minor leinster title in 4 years. Kildare won under 20 All Ireland in 2018. You can see with Jimmy Hyland and Cathal Hickey, the confidence and talent these players have. But both teams are the same level. Yo yo teams, just outside top 6 or 7, until one of them stay up in division 1 for a fee seasons, both are at the same level. Kingkeegan (UK) - Posts: 55 - 05/07/2021 20:40:05 2356723 Link 1 |

Meath have beaten kildare twice in the last 2 years. Meath defeated kildare in 2019 and 2020 and were fully deserved winners. There has been 3 games between Meath and kildare in the last 2 half years with 2 Meath wins and 1 kildare win. Meath were well deserved winners v kildare in 2019 and 2020. Meath kept kildare scoreless from play and to 1 Score from a free in he second half in 2019. Kildare scored 1 point in the 2019 second half v Meath in 2019 and 5 points v Meath in the second half in 2020. Meath dominated both second halves v kildare in 2019 and 2020. In the second half in 2019 Meath 1 - 4 Kildare scored 0 - 1. Meath have beaten kildare in 5 of the last 8 games Meath have beaten kildare in 2012, 2014, 2015, 2019, 2020. Kildare beaten Meath twice in 2017 and once this year. Meath have beaten kildare in the last 3 leinster semi finals in Croke Park in 2012 2014 2020. If Meath played kildare in a leinster semi final in Croke Park, that would be interesting. Kildare have only beaten Meath in 2 leinster semi finals in Croke Park in 90 years in 1971 and 2003. Kildare haven't won a leinster semi final in Croke Park in 12 years. Kildare have only reached 1 leinater final in 12 years (2017) Westmeath have reached 2 ( 2015, 2016) Meath have reached 6 leinster final in 12 years eg 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2019, 2020. Meath have reached 2 leinster finals back to back in 2019, 2020. Kildare have only reached 2 leinster finals back to back once in 90 years, that was in 1992 1993. Kildare haven't won championship match in Croke Park in 8 years, since Offaly in 2014. So where kildare are getting this idea they are 5 or 6 points better than Meath I do not know. Kildare have never won minor All Ireland title ever. I don't think kildare can talk about having better record at national titles than Meath. Kildare have never won national league div 1 title, Meath have won 7. Yes kildare have 1 All Ireland recently which is only kildare second All Ireland at any grade in 90 years. While Meath have won 11 All Irelands at every grade in the same period and 18 national titles to kildare 2 national titles in the last 90 years.

I think there's a genuine feeling that Dublin might be caught this year. There are lots of factors contributing to that which are pretty obvious. It is also evident that other teams have taken up the gauntlet rather than sulking, as the good managers out there, of who there are at least two in Leinster, know that if they prepare well then they might be the ones to be there when Dublin do come up short. And to be honest, I'd say lots of Dubs would prefer that to be at the hands of one of our neighbours than certain other chaps down south! What's amazing about it ? Dublin are in transition and are definitely in decline there's no talking down here , its there for everyone to see , open your eyes ! Now the question is can Meath/Kildare take advantage ? superbluedub (Dublin) - Posts: 2904 - 05/07/2021 21:41:17 2356757 Link 1 |

dublin will win by at least 6 points and i don't mean that as any disrespect to Meath because I fully expect dublin to hammer us by 6 points if we should meet in the final. KingdomBoy1 (Kerry) - Posts: 14092 - 05/07/2021 22:23:54 2356777 Link 1 |

I get a great giggle from a lot of kildare supporters on here. They seem to have a real venom for Meath and want to cosy up to the Dubs. Meath are very poor and have been for 10 years now. However, if there is 1 county in Ireland in no position to judge it is Kildare. They are in my opinion the great underachievers of Gaelic football, it is clearly a passionate footballing county yet they have won 2 leinsters in 60 years and are waiting nearly 100 years for an All Ireland. Embarrassing record. Meathmaverick (Meath) - Posts: 107 - 05/07/2021 22:31:10 2356784 Link 2 |

Dublin really went after the meath kickout last year. Brennan struggled for distance so the full on press was a straight forward but very effective tactic. Loads of turnovers and meath had no way of getting a foot hold in the game. Although Colgan is back dublin will probably just do the same. Hopefully though they will get a better platform to make game at least more competitive. It was a big win against Longford and hopefully they'll get some confidence from it. There is no getting away from the fact that dublin don't have as much strength in depth. They can't go to the bench for a mannion and howard at ht though I suppose with rock back they could have him or costello to go. So if the kickout does not let them down there is no reason not to at least give dublin a rattle. Ulsterchamps_32 (Donegal) - Posts: 1052 - 05/07/2021 23:22:04 2356797 Link 0 |

Meath were very good against Longford yesterday, vastly improved on their display against Kildare and that Longford side is not a bad side as their 25 points the previous week showed, and both Meath and Kildare usually find Longford a hard nut to crack, On that basis Meath are coming into the Dublin game in good form and with nothing to lose, Hopefully they make a game of it this year. I put Westmeath on a similar level to both Meath and Kildare and they are also coming into form, Kildare will need to hot their best form to win, it is a 50/50 game for me, we have not been putting up big enough scores and we need to improve that aspect of our game to win NorthKildare (Kildare) - Posts: 197 - 05/07/2021 23:25:30 2356798 Link 1 |

Dublin are playing the poormouth here. Dublin have won 6 All Irelands in a row and ten leinster titles row. Have hammered every team in leinster by 15 or 16 points every year since 2015. Dublin have hammered most teams in the country in that time period. Dublin won the All.Ireland last year by beating laois by 22 points, Meath by 21 and Ulster champions Cavan by 15 points in semi final. The year before Dublin beat louth by 26 points, kildare by 15 points, Meath by 16 points, Connacht champions Roscommon by 18 points and Mayo by 10 points. And kerry the second best team in the country couldn't beat with them extra man and lost by 6 in replay. And people are saying Meath have a chance are should be getting close to Dublin??? People are saying Dublin are in decline, they are just after winning the league with kerry. Meath are still in div 2 team this year or next year. If any team played Dublin ( leaving Mayo aside they are not div 2 team) from.div 2 this year laois, Down, Cork, Clare, Westmeath would anyone think these counties would get close to Dublin? no. Meath and kildare are top div 2 teams somewhere from 12th to 8th. And yet people are expecting a div 2 team to get close to 6 time All Ireland champions. I think Dublin are being cute hours. Dublin do start slowly in the championship. They beat Westmeath by 11 points last year. Followed that up with 22, 21 and 15 point wins. Dublin will be focused v Meath after seen Meaths performance. And more than likely they will try and destroy Meath like they did last. Like all great champions they saw upand coming team and they crushed them. More than likely the game will 10 to 15 points and maybe more and so will the final. Semi final could be the same. Dublin wouldn't get a game till the final. And looking at that kerry defence, Callaghan and Co could run riot against the worse set of kerry defenders, we have seen in 40 years. It suits Dublin to downplay and push up Meaths chances. Meath don't have forwards and kildare don't have the defence to beat Dubs. And kildares manager is probaly playing a type of game that was more suitable to 2008 than 2021. Kildares Cian O Neill team in 2017 played a much better modern effective style of football. O Connor kildares is to route one he needs to mix it up more. Regards Meath and kildare, all forms indicates double margin wins to Dublin by 12 to 15 points or maybe more. Meath are good young team. They could give Mayo or Armagh or Galway or Donegal a game and they have in the last year lost by 1 point to Mayo, 2 to Galway, 3 to kerry and 1 point Tyrone and 2 to Donegal recently as well. But they are not top a 6 or 7 team yet. They are also missing their best midfielder Ronan Jones and best young forward, a player who scored 4 brilliant points v Dubs in the league last year, Shane Walsh. But even with those players to expect Meath at their level to really put it up to Dublin is not based in reality. Dublin will be very disappointing if they don't beat Meath by 12 to 15 points. Anything underneath the Dubs wouldn't happy. All this talk of Dublins decline. A team that is current All Ireland champion by 6 times and the current league champions and in the leinster championship a few months ago were beating teams by 21 points and 22 points, that team is in decline. Dublin decline are not in decline. But there is a sign of Dubs playing silly beggars. The Dubs not for one minute think Meath or kildare will get close. To much reading into Wexford game. Dublin are a different team in Croke Park. It was Dublins lowest score in the leinster championship in 8 years. But this is the reason why? Yesterday was the first time Dublin have played in the leinster championship outside Croke Park at another teams home ground for 15 years since 2006. Dublin have played the odd game outside Croke Park in leinster championship, but never in oponents home ground for well over a decade. It was the first time in 15 years Dublin played out of Croke Park where the opposition was at home. Dublin played Wexford in Wexford. Something like that hasn't happened in 15 years. If Dublin played Wexford in Croke Park it would have being 15 to 30 points. Kingkeegan (UK) - Posts: 55 - 06/07/2021 04:21:59 2356816 Link 2 |
