Meath V Dublin

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Ahh sure we probably haven't a hope.
But sure we will give it a go anyway.
The big plus ? The return of James mcentee.
Navanorknowher ???

Dublin have fallen well back and are in transition.

The next few seasons is the time for the likes of Meath and Kildare to make hay.

Are they up to it?

Good luck v Dubs. A bigger test than Longford.

I fully expect Dublin to win, but if Meath cant be at least competitive this time out, i worry for you.

This is not the Dublin team of 2015-2019.

I fully expect Dublin to win too. Although come the day I will have convinced myself and anyone else who listens that there is no way we won't win. But that is a different story. :).
Tbh Meath have been poor this year with the exception of yesterday (you can only beat what in front of you ) gk still a big problem IMO, midfield without either menton or Jones is from last year I think is also a worry. That been said harnan is doing a good job. The pluses ? Morris has matured and is in great form, joey wallace has started to look like the exciting player we all thought he could be, Newman is back (probably just has 35 in legs at this stage) but still it's a plus having that experience around this very young team. Hickey is a outstanding player that likely will become a Meath great over the next 10 years fionn Reilly also looks in that mould, Mathew Costello too. The real plus I took from yesterday was the return of James mcentee, he looked sublime and is a tough player. He has been greatly missed. ( see I'm already convincing myself we can win).
But I think Andy has reached all he can do with this team, we are in a better place now than when he came in, but I feel we have stagnated a bit. And that is never good, a new voice to kick us on again will probably be required for next year.
On a side note Dublin best performance last year came against Meath , no matter what has happened Dublin will perform a hell lot better than v Wexford when they see the green tops.
As for Kildare ? I fully expect Westmeath to win. Westmeath were a better team against us in league than Kildare (yes we won against them and lost v Kildare) but we were atrocious against Kildare and pretty good against Westmeath if that makes sense .
So for me it's a Meath v Westmeath Leinster final. :).

On yesterdays showing i think this is going to be massively competitive, a lot closer to the Dublin Vs Meath games before the last decade.

Go have a look at results between the two sides over the last 10 years

Having said that, i do expect this one to be competitive

As Meath played well enough v Westmeath and won by a point. Worst Meath performance of last few years was against Kildare , and it took a sublime save in injury time not to go to extra time. It makes sense looking at it like that.

Are you forgetting the first 55/60 minutes when Kildare wiped Meath off the pitch? Only for taking our foot off the pedal, something we are doing far too regularly, it would have been a double digit victory. You worry about yourselves and we'll worry about Westmeath. Dublin - Kildare final

A game is 70 minutes long, taking your foot off the pedal is inexcusable... saying ot would've been a double digit victory otherwise is the the equivalent to if your granny had balls... playing for 55/60 minutes isn't good enough if you can't get the job done on the day. Admittedly yes you finished the job on the day and I've no complaints as a Meath man. We weren't close to good enough

And you're right you should worry about Westmeath because they'll not be easily beaten, we know that here in Meath they're never easily beaten and given the respect they deserve

Kildare are in no position to take anybody lightly and I'm sure they won't
