Disappointing result for our hurlers today. We've a young squad who have retained their league status for next season so hopefully the heads don't drop after today's result and we can use the result as a learning process ahead of next season. We will only improve further if we handle today in a proactive manner which isnt the way it was done in Antrim in the past. I thought we had a home and away arrangement in place the last few years anyway cockneycat. Last championship game was in 2019 at Wexford Park. Last league game was this year in Nowlan Park. So it wouldve been Wexford again. But even Nowlan Park is alot handier for most of us than Portlaoise. The match next weekend could go either way I feel. I think Cody knew all along that the team Davy picked for the League game wasnt close to the team that will start next weekend. Or the style of play. Really looking forward to it. Will only 200 people be allowed in?

Worst of it was they looked well up for it individually and had their best players on the pitch. They just looked like they didnt know where to be or what to do.

Some of the mistakes they were making were so basic. You'd wonder are they actually as bad as the final score suggests. Wexford looks great, but when the opposition are so poor its hard to know where you stand, they walked through the defense so easy. That said, some great scores from Wexford. Great to see Rory O Connor and McDonald showing so well.

It's not "typical Laois" -- it's typical for any small county with small hurling population and small resources. Unfortunately there is a ceiling to what they can achieve and to have one reasonably good year every few years is about as good as can be hoped for.

There you go just as I thought at the start of the year Eddie Brennan forced out and gone back to square one. Don't let the scoreline fool anyone the game was over after 20 minutes wexford won by 20 points in second gear. Its shameful and shambolic bringing back a manager when even the dog on the street knew it was a dreadful mistake. What a derisory miserable county board not backing a good hurling man like Brennan and returning to mediocrity. The show is well and truly over and relegation from the all Ireland series is almost a certainty. Championship games won't be won in a beer garden. Don't get carried away by the win over Laois. That Laois team has regressed big time since Brennan went. The fight and ambition has gone and has been replaced by going through the motions and visits to beer Gardens. Enjoy your win and good luck against kilkenny you'll need to improve.

That's a lame duck reply sure laois are a small county but were making big strides under Eddie Brennan. This nonsense talk of one good year really is basically just nonsense. The county board simply refused to back Brennan all he was asking for were small improvements and parity with the footballers but all he got was the deaf ear. Sure were not going to win the all Ireland but there were some very creditable and vastly improved displays but now it's just back to normal. It's an insult to say expect the odd good year that's a load of nonsense if you get the right man in and give him the right backing you'll see what can be done.
