Replying To stoneygrey:  "I think Ryan o toole is off the pace this last couple of games , good player but maybe mc Philips deserves another chance if he's fit . Hopefully Sean Jones is fit , I'd like to see him start . Still plenty of options but the space from midfield back has to be filled , wide open against Donegal and they need to settle into the game a lot quicker . Very winnable this game"
Agree on young O'Toole I'm afraid. Dessie and Sean Jones would tip the scales in Monaghan's favour I think.

Being optimistic:
Beggan

Boyle
Duffy
Wylie

O'Connell
Ward
McAnespie

D Hughes
Lavelle

Kieran Hughes
Bannigan (big game needed from him)
McCarthy

O'Hanlon

Gallagher
Jack

Carey, McPhilips, Mohan, McManus, Jones, O'Toole

Sean Jones simply wont play, how can Vinny spring Jones into a high intensity game like this when he hasn't seen no game time all year and when hes recovering from injury. I doubt he will see much game time at all.

Replying To patmouse:  "Alot to do with the std of football at the expensive and not much we can do with either. The time for the game is also poor.

The marketing of the GAA is non existent, unless you have a interest in the GAA you wouldn't know the games were on.

Hopefully we can get win the games, the championship starts properly on Saturday."
thinking about this over the last couple of days and have to agree.
i listen to the radio every day and haven't heard anything about the weekends gaa at all. I'm on social media too and don't think I've seen much either. does the GAA not have a marketing team?

Whatever about our game - the Mayo Galway match is a mouth watering clash

Our game is a good one too when you look back over the last 10 years. I remember the lashing rain in croker when we went to extra time in 2014. Jack scored a beautiful kick from 45 and we scraped over the line.
I remember being at the super 8 game in 2018 in Newbridge when, again we dogged out a result against a stubborn kildare team. We also scraped over the line in the league game in 2018 in Croke park.

Kildare certainly didn't deserve to lose those 3 games and our recent history would've been completely different only for those results. Remember that was kildare at their arguable worst and us at our best

They finally got the better of us last year and absolutely annihilated us

Ill be going to Tullamore in hope rather than expectation but with monaghan we cant be ruled and I genuinely believe that if we set up correctly we can do it. Kildare will approach this with trepidation as well.

I have to agree about the promotion of games, it is practically non-existent. The championship sponsors have very prominent ads on tv & radio but these ads are general championship/GAA/sponsor ads, game specific promotion does not exist.

Monaghan GAA social media does not have much in the run up to games and I do empathise with them as they have so much to cover but there is minimal promotion in the lead in to games and much of what does occur pre & post match is from external sources Fintan McTiernan, Lavery Videography & Colm Shalvey etc. The GAA centrally should be taking care of these things with short video clips, promotional graphics etc. before and after games that are county specific. Some counties are a lot better than others on this front but the GAA should have some sort of graphic design/pr team to look after these things.

It must also be said though that while traditional media may not have much the week of and after games there is an abundance of non-conventional media preview and analysis shows that are by & large very good with great hosts, pundits & insights but many people who are not familiar with this sphere might miss out.

For those who are unaware RTÉ, BBC, Off The Ball on Newstalk, Irish Examiner, Joe.ie and probably others all have weekly GAA podcasts that are worth checking out if you previously haven't.

Best of luck to our minor and senior teams today leave it all on the field as am sure you will. Hopefully get big crowd there for it could be the final time we see some legends in the jersey although am sure theyll want least one more dance.

Brilliant result for the minors with some determined defending there at the end.

A big congratulations to Monaghan on your great and deserved win v Kerry in the minors. Well deserved for a football mad county with a small pick. Well done and best of luck in the final.

An atrocious ref,
A below par performance,
But a key win.

Hard to believe we won that game, we were absolutely brutal and Kildare should have kicked on - but didn't. They let us hang in there long enough til we woke up and took a few chances at the end to snatch it. McCarthy was key with a few massive scores and he was the one who stepped up at the end and took responsibility. Also a special word for Karl, the way he threw his body into winning that late kick out epitomises his championship this year. Huge moment.

Ref was abysmal, but for both sides.

When it's your day it's your day

Minors deserved their win, although below par especially some of the forwards, plenty of stuff to work on for the final and we will be hard to beat if we get it right on the day

The seniors were rode their luck with the help of Kildare's over emphasis on defence, no one to blame but themselves, hard to believe they were the ones that wanted the final whistle at the end, couple of the Kildare scores looked wide, one in particular was.
Big improvement needed on and off the pitch next week.
Great day for the County though

Just back from tullamore. What a great day for the county. Firstly minors pride of place. Huge victory over kerry they held their nerve brilliantly in those final few minutes where so many monaghan sides have buckled previously real moment of history to beat kerry and make an all ireland final. As for seniors honestly no idea how we won. Thought we'd be lucky to get it to extra time for most of 2nd half was a poor match but kildare just couldn't put us away missed a few goal chances and that old hard edge gained from so many tight scraps over the years got us over the line. Thought Mccarthy Darren Hughes o connell superb jack worked hard with little support. The effort was there and character shown no doubt but just v little quality too much over elaborate play back and forth with zero peneratation until last few minutes. We will be massive underdogs next week no matter who we play which will probably suit a lot of our players who seem to struggle being favourites in games.

It was always going to be a tough tie against Kildare, we did just enough in the end to get over the line. The mindless passing in front of the half forwards needs to stop though. It pretty much renders our full forward line obsolete for large periods of the game. That aside, we showed some quality through McCarthy, Jack and Karl O. We're in the draw on Monday morning and that's the main thing. Well done to our Senior and Minors team. Great to see such a big turnout of Monaghan fans in Tullamore too.

Famous day for the county in Tullamore and great to see a big Monaghan turnout. Minors were so good and so committed against an incredibly defensive Kerry team. Fully deserved their victory and could have won by more.

The seniors were a different matter and were very fortunate to come out on top. All of the issues that we are aware about surfaced again, but Monaghan teams have a habit of hanging in to the end and this worked in our favour today. At least we pushed up more than in the Donegal match and got an excellent goal from our best player Conor McCarthy early on that kept us in the game when we weren't scoring. But our attacking play continues to be too slow giving defences time to be organised against us and we struggle to break through and are seriously exposed when turnovers inevitably happen. But we dug it out in the end with guts and determination.

So overall the Quarter Finals is an acceptable achievement for a team in transition with a first time manager and we have nothing to lose in next game so might as well give it a real rattle. Clearly of the three options open to us, Armagh, rather than Dublin or Kerry would be best!

Great day for Monaghan football.
Your seniors are through to the QFs and your minors in first All Ireland final since 1939 . Well done to the Farney.

Good day for the county in Tullamore. Great to see our minors through to the final. Malone doing a great job with them and they have belief as well as talent.
The senior game was a hard watch - we got there in the end but frustrating viewing. The ref was very poor - the free against Karl for a turnover and then the linesman standing watching Darren being punched in the ground. Kildare supporters thought they had the game won at half time and were shouting into Monaghan supporters faces - strange. Their carryon made the last minute point all the sweeter.
Great to be out again next week and some achievement for Vinny in his first year in charge.
Honn the farney. Muineacháin Abú !

Ach a great day for the County yesterday in Tullamore. The minors were flying and great to see their belief. Great that we travelled in huge numbers and got behind them.
The seniors got the result - not a great watch but delighted we got there in the end. The ref was a tarra.
The facilities at the ground in Tullamore really showed how far behind our Clones ground is.
A great day as a Monaghan supporter, an ice cream on the way home and the jersey in the wash for next weekend.
