Replying To Dcgael:  "It's not that they pick the dubs that rankles it's because they don't give Monaghan the slightest chance. All the work that has been put in to get us where we are counts for nothing. They can't see past 2 or 3 teams. At some point we will break through. If the no. 6 team hasn't even the slightest chance against the number 3 team why bother playing the games.(give or take a ranking spot) Tyrone won Sam more recently than the dubs and we beat them in their own backyard. Same result tomorrow Monaghan by a point!"
Getting to the latter stages of a competition doesn't always mean you are better than the teams who have been elimated earlier, however you deserve to be there as you got through the games you were faced with. If I'm honest I think Mayo and Galway would beat Monaghan at this stage this evening without injuries, luck of the draw and injuries means a lot though.

Monaghan have had a fantastic season. The reality though, is apart from Tyrone in UC earlier this season Monaghan have not beaten a team playing Division 1 next season in this years All Ireland series or championship as a whole. They got over Kildare and won a penalty shoot out against Armagh whilst Dublin took the league champions apart.

I think the media have got it correct from what we've seen this season. It's up to Monaghan to change the narrative this evening. It has to be extra motivation, good luck.

Ref has been shocking.

Irrespective of Monaghan's own failings Dublin were just not going to be allowed to lose that game at all. The decisions in the last 10 mins were scandalous. McManus was being constantly pulled, dragged and hit and no fouls were being called at all. Dublin as usual got their raft of soft calls. It's hard enough trying to play against a professional Croke Park outfit without playing the officials too.

Quite agree. Scoring frees given to Dublin in 25th minute, 35th minute, 42nd minute and 61 minutes - all lifelines.

In a tight match, those fussy calls - which Monaghan got none of- make all the difference.

Poor show by the Tyrone ref

Dublin in the final, he done his job. That's what Croke Park want.

More like listening to a screaming Dublin groupie.

Fine effort for Monaghan for an hour (0-12 each after 60 minutes) Outscore 1-5 to 0-1 in the final 10 minutes of normal time plus 5 mins of added time. Very harsh on Monaghan but the Dublin more of impact out of their bench,

Not so. Do referees always have to be criticised. Hurson got most things right on a difficult wet day.

But I don't understand. He is from Ulster. Surely you therefore you are in love with him?

In the last 10/15 mins all the calls and scoreable frees went Dublin's way. Monaghan didn't get any of them. McManus was constantly buffeted, pulled and hit by 3 or 4 Dublin players and you could see his frustration. It's the usual outcome. In tight games involving Dublin they ALWAYS get the big calls.

It was the best referee performance of the season. You earn your frees, you don't buy them with this referee. The handling on the ground decisions and seeing players pulling and dragging off the ball was fantastic. He was brave to call the black card when many wouldn't of been in a full Croke Park. He also got the high body hits correct but didn't stop the game being physical.

Even introducing a bit of comedy by using the screen for the 45 at the end. Just an overall fantastic performance especially in those conditions and credit where it is due.

Referees don't get the good performances called out enough. He probably can't get the final two years in a row, he'd deserve it though after this evening.

As for the game Monaghan made it a real battle for 60 minutes. It's a 75 minute game at this stage of the competition and Dublin just had too much for them in the end.

I thought the ref and officials had a good game, bit over fussy maybe but consistent so that evens out, Monaghan done great but just ran out of steam but they did themselves and the county proud I thought.
Mansy scored some beauties today, likely the last we'll see of him at this stage but what a player he has been.

A harsh scoreline at the end having made Dublin look beatable for an hour.

The referee was actually very consistent for a change. I do rate Hurson but why couldn't they have a ref from Connaught or Munster. The optics aren't great.
