Replying To UsernameInvalid:  "It was always about championship with me, never found meaning in the league. It was a good 7 games to really ready you for championship but now it is important if we are to be in the race for Sam.

In division 2, Derry, Cork and Louth have come out of the traps in the respective pre-season competitions. Derry will fancy their chances to win division 2, they are Ulster champions and AI semi finalists, they are backboned by Slaughtneil and Glen players who have consistently performed at the highest level for their club.
Louth have the MH factor, he is a smooth operator and will no doubt have his team ready to go. They are in the OBC final on merit but did get a couple of good wins and will target specific games.
I like what Cork are about, if they could get Sherlock, Hurley and Connolly in the same forward line along with O Mahony, Powter and Maguire in the spine they would give anyone a game. They went to town on a Kerry team who had 4 or 5 of their AI winning team out (they probably done very little before that game) but it's still a big feat to do that, image if we done that to Dublin after they won an AI.

Limerick came through an easier side in the McGrath cup and probably would do well to pick up a win in division 2.

This leaves a bracket of 4 teams where it is hard to know where they are at. Dublin have been in a very slow decline since 2019 but still have a lot of great players to call on. Kildare are like Spurs, could be great and shoot the lights out but also could fall to pieces on the day. They have had very good underage teams in the last 10 years at both minor and u21, so at some point and time it must click. Clare are a steady division 2 side, they won't make division 1 but at the same time unless you're Dublin or Derry you don't want to be playing them in Ennis as it can be difficult to come away with a win.

Lastly is ourselves, we're unbeaten in the OBC but played division 3 and 4 sides. We have been a steady division 2 side similar to Clare and also like Kildare as we could fall to pieces on the day as we seen at the start of our league campaign last year. Our one shining light is we have multiple young players (Costello, Hickey, Brennan and O Hare) coming through who have been part of a leinster minor winning side.

I'm optimistic about this league campaign but we need to start it right and win one of the first two games"
Some valid points. The only thing I'd differ with you on is Dublin. I think this year they will be as good as good as 17/18. Now I hope I'm wrong but they haven't even put out their first team yet or even their second for the most part. So I see them walking division 2. Now the final they may throw out a second team and may be caught. But I'd put my house on them getting promoted. I'm not so sure about Derry. They are good no doubt but for me ulster is competitive but doesn't have really any A rated teams. At the moment, there's no Dublin there's no Kerry. There's no Galway. They for me are the top 3. And I'd place Armagh next. And the best ulster has to offer.

We need a player like him to come good, but he had a very average year for meath and against decent opposition in the club championship"

36/37 players played in our club county final in 2022, bare in mind the two teams in the final were miles ahead of every other team in the club championship last year, yet against cork and clare 1 player from both summerhill and ratoath played in Daithi McGowan, a joke in my eyes

Not sure if those 2 clubs which were very close are in top form as they might be recovering from a long season. If fit they could give O'Rourkes team a good challenge. If not maybe a combined Summerville Ratoath team. And let Colm hold the 1player he picked to give him every chance .
Then again would he be afraid to take them on.

1 player from the Junior B final, 1 from Junior A final and 3 from the intermediate final have played so far too. Could you make a case for many more of the Ratoath or Summerhill players? Summerhill's best forward is still u20. Another 2 Roatath players will start when fit. Ronan Ryan will be close when fit too. Joey Wallace would play if fit. Rogers has been called up to panel in last few weeks. Maybe Wyer from Ratoath would be good enough too. A lot of the others have been around the panel before or are at the latter end of their careers(Eamon Wallace, Dardis, McMahon, Bobby O'Brian).

Flynn, McGill and likely Ronan Ryan will all play/start when injury free. Ross Ryan on the panel. Who else would you have from either team on the panel. Maybe Conor Frayne and Cian Rodgers as panel members perhaps

From Shill and Rath -

Cian rodgers surely should be on the panel. Flynn is back playing with college last night. Mcgill is back soon too.

From Summerhill - Ronan and Ross Ryan are both on panel and will feature I would say. Conor frayne maybe should be given a shot ? Flanagan ?

Ben Wyer as well for me is definitely deserving of being in the panel at the very least

Why not just put the entire Ratoath starting fifteen on the Meath panel? That was tried for the last ten years and got Meath nowhere.

Not really a joke. It was a dreadfully boring county final and the players that are good enough at the moment from both clubs are on the panel. Two Ryan's from Summerhill and Dáithí McGowan, Conor McGill and Jack Flynn from Ratoath. The rest have had their chance or aren't an upgrade on what's already there. It's not healthy for a county squad to have 7 or 8 players from one club on it, as was the case for nearly the last ten years.

What an utterly stupid comment. He is one player mentioned to be added to the 3 others that are in the panel, but you're probably one of these lads that wants some 'Big North Meath Men' on the team!! Ben Wyer has played in 3 of the last 4 county finals and been one of the most consistent man markers in the county in that time, while still being only 22 or 23.
And as for 'the last 10 years', every manager picked the best players in the county, and tried a hell of a lot of others who were simply not as good as the likes of McMahon and the two Wallaces

Yes to Menton no to Conlon. Great club forward but couldn't hack it at inter county level.

People were saying the same about Shane Walsh last year, kicking game would suit him, best club forward around

Just noticed on leinster website that we are away to either Longford or Offal in the SFC quarter final, I don't think that's right, last time we played Longford it was in Longford, and as I recall recent Offaly meetings were at neutral venues, how is this decision arrived at, I certainly believe its questionable

I think the last time we played both in the championship the games were in Navan - 2019 vs Offaly when we scraped past them and 2021 vs Longford when we won well.

I stand corrected, old age is starting to dim my memory, will make either fixture that bit more difficult.
