Heard Paul Murphy mention on podcast a week in Portugal is actually cheaper than 3 days in fota.also no distractions while away, while word could travel that teams are in Irish resort and public could start to arrive..

If it is in Parnell, I think we will win. If it is in Croke Park, I think Wexford will have our number. So I hope we're not handing Wexford one of our big advantages, ie. getting you in to the Nell."
I fancy us to finally get over the dubs this year regardless of where the game is played.

I don't know but the team bus and kit van are going via ferry to Bilbao so maybe they aren't flying which would be a fraction of the cost. Still I'd say 30k would be conservation.

Ah now we are bordering on the fantasy stuff here. It takes two days of constant on the move to get to the Algarve goting that way. Its a nice journey if you want to do it as a holiday experience but no way is the bus or them going that way.

A drive from Bilbao to the Algarve would be a bit much :D

I know that when the hurlers did a similar trip a couple of years ago, the kit van travelled by ferry all right, but the players flew. Presume it's much cheaper to send everything in the back of a van on a boat than it would be to pay for it as air cargo, and presume that's the reason this time as well. Makes it a long trip for the kit man, though!

Hadn't heard about a team bus being sent the same way, but could be the same thing. Could be far cheaper to send a driver and an empty bus on the ferry than it would be to hire a local coach company in Portugal for a week (or however long the trip is).

Anyway, travelling by ferry wouldn't necessarily be cheaper per player than if they flew over. Have actually checked prices for a week in early April:
- Travel by ferry, Rosslare to Bilbao: €296 p.p. for a foot passenger for the round trip
- Fly with Aer Lingus to Faro: €246 p.p. for the same dates

That is a fact about the Van and the bus. I am just speculating about the team.

It is a long journey but perhaps there are multiple locations?

Again not suggesting this is the case. Just shooting the breeze

According to Google Maps - about 10 hours from Bilbao to Faro.

That's almost as long as it takes to get from the racecourse to the Maldron roundabout after a big match in Wexford Park :)

Missing the oldest trick in the book.....left indicator on, turn left at the roundabout, u-turn, back on to the roundabout!
Might not be able any more and never did it but was told lots do it. We nearly always hang around for a bit of food after matches and let the rush on.

Doylerwex/Viking I know we beat you in Croke Park 2 years ago but to me that was madness and luckily the team back it up.
I found out last night its down for Parnell. The thing is, no-one like Parnell. Not even Dubs. The facilities, location, are all poor. It just reeks of the down-trodden nature of Dublin hurling for me.
But.......it presents the best chance for Dublin to beat any team in Leinster and when I go there I know whoever we are playing are not getting out of it with a win without a battle.
But then again, we missed out on promotion to division 1, have lost our marquee player, so I don't know this year.

You'd be surprised at people doing this. Was in Portugal for a week myself last summer, lovely apartment overlooking pools and a kids astro.

Sitting on the balcony on 1st morning and what do I hear only the dulcet tones of Cork accents and what sounds like the instantly recognisable sounds of hurl on sliothar! Look out and yep, kid out pucking about.

Outside the reception I noticed the new ranger parked up with the Cork reg and a 7 seater parked alongside.

Got talking to tne family and they'd done that trip a few times, 2 families, load the ranger up with all the luggage hurls included leaving plenty of space for the 2 families to travel comfortably. I remember thinking it sounded remarkably doable as a holiday!

While it might seem a dead rubber for many i think its important wexford get a good performance against limerick. What doesnt need to happen is getting a skutching like the cork match. A very good performance could be a springboard heading into the championship. It has being a challenging league, some dissapointing performance against kk and cork so if the league could be finished on a positive note suddenly morale is up preparing for the championship. The difference a week made for kk last week. Limerick are missing alot of starters. A good showing can do anything but stand to Wexford later in the season imo.
What way has preparation gone for the u20? Down to play kk at home next weekend. Its a round robin again but wexford have a very good record against kk and no reason they cant beat them again next week.i dont think kk have many around the senior squad, they have struggled to bring through younger players. Alot of their supporters will tell you theres nothing coming underage.

Usual Kilkenny poor mouth. They've some excellent hurlers in the 18-21 bracket.

Seen the u20s play Clare a few weeks ago and was impressedby them, were playing a nice brand of hurling and looked to be motoring well, although they've been hit with a few injuries.

I agree that a good showing tomorrow could make a ton of difference, it's a pity Ryan isn't in the panel, would have been good for him and us to get a proper run out before championship

I agree on the first count. It's the last chance to build a little confidence before championship which is fast approaching.

The performance will go a long way towards setting to tone of the training camp.

As for under 20 you'd be hoping for an improvement on last year but I never buy into Kilkenny being poor. You don't get bad Kilkenny teams although Offaly are the current standard at that grade.

Team named for tonight . Good to see Cian Molloy get a chance although I think Eoin Ryan is worth his place on the team too. Hoping for a good showing vital before our 4 week break before Antrim
