Apologies for the typo, 'stats' I intended. Hope you enjoyed your big win on Sunday.

'The only this embarrassing here is your literacy levels.'

Show me SF head without telling me.

So far we have SF, Celtic supporting... any other lazy stereotypes you'd like to throw at my proud county? Daniel O'Donnell loving perhaps?

Use of these lazy stereotypes shows the measure of the type of person you are.

I think I'll leave it there.

P. S. I hope you get those pesky referees sorted once and for all.

I'm glad someone picked up on my deliberate typo. I was waiting to see if the original poster would himself but hey ho we'll never know now."
There's more than one thing wrong with you how wrote "The only this embarrassing here is your literacy levels."

You may claim there was a deliberate typo, but how do you explain the other?

Nothing wrong with SF. Or Celtic. Or Donegal. Daniel O'Donnell....meh.

Plenty wrong with your appearance on this thread though.

Never mind him, jealous of his comrades across the border no doubt.

Proud be pushing it also. Not much to be proud of up there down the past century.

Nothing hurts me lad. I'm too long in the tooth to give a #### about things I can't change! And that includes referees decisions and other posters opinions ;-)

Any word on how training is going since the seniors went back? Hoping we have the 2 Foleys back and likes on Hanlon , Mogie etc can commit for one more year

The new season can't come quickly enough for me.

No real expectations but it's a big season for Rossi.

I think he did a good job of steadying the ship last year. A very good league bar the Cork game.

Some mad results in Leinster but ultimately unlucky not to reach the final.

A bit of consistency in the round robin and we'll be in with a shout.

Not sure any of those things are realistic aspirations.
And in any case after last years championship, where we defaulted back to doing what we were doing for the last few years, and which cost us losing games against beatable opponents just like it did before, or not beating good opponents from good positions, I think our management has to be braver.
It's time to play like we did last year in the League, get more younger, hungrier lads on the pitch playing a system that suits them. But this time keep that going into the championship.
Reverting back to the tried and tested for last years championship unfortunately led us to achieving what we usually achieved with the tried and tested. Not very much. As another poster is fond of saying, keeping on doing the same things and expecting a different outcome......

Please be advised to stay away from the 'literacy levels' dig, Pikeman, when your own seem to be quite low!

What are our targets this year. I think Galway Kilkenny and tipp are winnable games in the league championship for this team last hurrah and I think there is a Leinster there to win. Consistency is a must. Beat Antrim first round get off to a good start but won't be easy with Davy in town

Wexford need to really focus on the Antrim, Offaly & Dublin games in championship this year and Keith needs to sit down with the players and assess why they are able to beat Galway or Kilkenny and then produce flat performances v Antrim and Dublin.

Consistency of performance in each game of the championship will determine whether Wexford can make a Leinster final and not just beating Kilkenny in front of a bumber crowd in Wexford park on the final round robin match.

If you're referring to the bit I put in bold, then that was a direct quote of what the other person wrote, when he was the one having a dig at somebody's literacy levels.

I'm glad to note you can see yourself how he didn't exactly display a great level of literacy himself in doing so.

I wouldn't be concerned about the league at all. It's important we're competitive in those games but developing players and refining our style is most important.

For championship we need to be looking at a Leinster final.

In order to do that we have to win the games we're expected to win. Ie Offaly and Antrim, albeit they're not easy games.

We need to beat two of the big three then.

In what way would you refine the teams style?

We need to get more comfortable with the short game when opponents squeeze up on us.
We need backs who can hurl faster, move the ball faster, see free team mates faster. We have too many heads down hurlers on the panel, fit lads who can run and solo ok, but whose striking is poor by top intercounty standards when under pressure, whose decision making under pressure is poor also, too slow, and who dont look further than the end of their hurl and keep running into traffic and getting turned over. What separates Jippo, Damien and Matthew from our other backs isn't just their physical strength, it's what's between their ears.
Against Antrim in the last quarter, and again against Kilkenny when they pushed up on us either side of halftime, we ended up panicking and going back to pucking it long to Chin and hoping he'd magic up something from what these days is described as backs ball.
Alot of lads on this forum bemoan the fact that we don't have forwards "who can win their own ball". I think a large part of the problem we have is that we don't have the backs to play the type of ball our forwards are good at winning. Running the ball out with short sharp heads up hurling , sucking the opponents halfbacks up the pitch to block the running lanes, then playing good low fast ball into the spaces they leave behind for the likes of Rory and Cian Byrne to run out onto would be a good plan A. Plan B would be to stay moving the ball up the pitch with short stick passes to team mates running forward into space if the opposing half backs don't move up to reduce space in the middle 3rd and force turnovers. Plan C is the long outball to a big HALF forward like Chin. No doubt we should have pans D, E and F practised also. And we need to be braver and stick to the plans we have even if we get turned over occasionally,
as we certainly will be even if we are playing nearly perfect hurling.
Pucking long ball into the square shouldn't even be Plan Z. It nearly never works, and no team is going to score 30+ points playing that way, and that's the kind of total it takes to beat a top intercounty team these days.
