No. Glen can appeal to the CAC and then on to the DRA. I think the GAA have to sanction a replay at the very least as there is precedent there - Laois v Carlow, Armagh v Laois 2006 etc. Kilmacud will then have the right to appeal that decision or forego their win. I hear a lot of the stoic ex inter county footballers say it would be tainted if a replay was awarded but the reality is you probably only get one chance to win a club football all ireland and I for one would laugh at somebody suggesting i take the moral highground when i've trained my backside all year to get here to win with friends and family. Glen are not trying to sneak a win through the backdoor or the boardroom - the rules have clearly been breached and the extra man was actively involved in the last play. Throw in the fact that i believe Glen asked for the 45 to be retaken and were not listened too and they have every right to be aggrieved and seek justice through the rules. Sure if there's a stop clock, then there's no need for extra minutes to be added. Stop the game and the clock when the substitutions are being made and restart when they're done. A lot of people have been advocating for the clock for a long time. I do think it's needed, but there is one issue with it which I see in the ladies game, which needs resolution. When teams know exactly how much time is left, the winning team can easily run down the last minute. It can also encourage an even greater level of cynicism. The last minute of the Kilkerrin vs Mourneabbey All-Ireland club final from a few years ago was a good example. Kilkerrin were a point down with less than a minute left. They needed to get the ball up the pitch, but Mournabbey fouled them. By the time the last free was taken in midfield the clock had run out. It was one scenario where in the current men's format, the ref would have kept playing as Kilkerrin attacked. It could possibly be resolved by something like an automatic 13m free for fouls of that nature. WanPintWin (Galway) - Posts: 2318 - 31/01/2023 11:07:53 2455456 Link 1 |
A replay has been ordered. Can't see a date for it. Tacaí Liatroma (Leitrim) - Posts: 1168 - 31/01/2023 11:23:54 2455460 Link 0 |

Good idea, or maybe if there's a foul and there's less than 30 seconds to go, reset the clock back to 30 at the request of the team fouled against.

Croke Park rule that it must be replayed, correct decision but way too late. Will imagine Kilmacud will appear and scheduling a replay in an already very compressed calendar is going to be very very difficult. hyperache (Meath) - Posts: 271 - 31/01/2023 11:45:09 2455475 Link 1 |
The right decision. For the integrity of the game and for fairness. Just a pity it took them a week and a half to come up with this. It should have been done by last Friday. friedporridge (Leitrim) - Posts: 23 - 31/01/2023 12:02:13 2455478 Link 6 |
Crokes may not even appeal. Might just say they are not togging out. BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3510 - 31/01/2023 12:04:47 2455480 Link 2 |
CHC, CAC, DRA still to be involved. fearruanua (Galway) - Posts: 368 - 31/01/2023 12:08:20 2455485 Link 0 |
Simple solution is to just treat it like in rugby. Game doesn't end until the ball goes out of play. So in the above scenario the fouls allow the team to play on.

What date was a drawn game down for? Fair call, could have been sorted Monday after match.

This could drag on a bit longer , They should fix the replay for St Patricks Day it gives time for both teams to plan for and will get massive interest again for the prefect day for it. 33233 (Donegal) - Posts: 52 - 31/01/2023 12:39:57 2455502 Link 2 |
Ref made an error allowing 45 be taken quickly but Crokes won on the day. This really embarassing stuff from the GAA and also from Glen for trying to win an All Ireland in a boardroom that they lost on the pitch. bad.monkey (USA) - Posts: 4649 - 31/01/2023 12:42:27 2455503 Link 6 |
What a farce. Embarassing stuff from Glen. Crokes could have had 10 players on the pitch at the end and still won. Just because they had not fully left the pitch a replay is ordered? Crokes should not even show up for this aidan64 (Kerry) - Posts: 668 - 31/01/2023 12:51:10 2455504 Link 2 |
Check the rules Yank, forfeit, replay or fine and fine would have been a disgrace. Fair play to the GAA for standing by it's own rules , albeit later than expected.

Hope they do and its awarded to Glen, the whole thing is ridiculous - i wouldn't collude with it. Crokes should be better then the process.
