Played a significant part in some of the most titanic battles ever witnessed in Croke Park

Those Dub v Mayo games were for the ages. Extraordinaryly competitive.

Best of luck in your life away from Inter County football, as an add on, I hope you get to make a nice living as a sports writer / broadcaster.

I like many other Dub fans will never forget those games and your undoubtedly incredible efforts, good and bad. It's all part of the battle.

You were some boyo, and some bloody baller all at the same time.

Outstanding player, if you were picking a team of the decade for 2010-19 himself and McCaffrey are nailed on for 5 and 7, James McCarthy will be 6 or midfield before anyone jumps in.

Aidan O Shea aside very few of this generation said much or did much to attract begrudgery from armchair experts who could barely get a game in junior championship. You even finish with a weird memory from 2012. Cool story.

And the part about celebrity lovers? Might have been in your head maybe from Brolly ? Lol. Word for word lad. You haven't an original thought in your head so you try and copy clickbait Brolly. Try and bit harder lad."
ah give the young chap a beak.. sure its an embarrassing post, and his knowledge of the game is fairly poor, but i bet if you asked him about Finn Harps or Celtic he'd be on top of his breif.. much easier to parrot a pundit than learn about another sport and establish your own opinion.

They reckon he stay for hours after training throw his GPS unit a pre-arranged targets. They say he could thread a needle with the accuracy of this throw

Fantastic foitballer, every county wishes they had a Lee Keegan. Winning an All Ireland doesn't define a great career, there are lots of average footballers walking about with All-Ireland medals in their pockets.

Always seemed quiet and unassuming but on the field that's where that ended. For me he had it all...truly one of the greats and ultimate pro. Never struck me as a guy to now suddenly sit up and rest and he'll find something else to chomp on pretty quick..

Even as a Galway man, It's sad to think we won't see this warrior on the field of play again.
It was a pleasure to see how he played the game and what that jersey, so obviously, meant to him.
No comparison between him and the millionaires diving and dancing at the World Cup.

Did Andy Moran not retire in the week before the Kerry Dublin All Ireland final in 2019? I think RTE and some other media spent as much time yapping about that as they did the upcoming final and Dublin going for 5 in row.
Why could he not have announced his retirement when the season was over like other players do?
Even as a Mayo fan you are bound to notice the fawning over Mayo by RTE and their anti Ulster bias over the years. It reminds me of the English media the way they go on about the English soccer team. I don't think anyone likes to hear that oul rubbish, go and win something and then talk about it.
I think that's what galls me about Mayo, not the individual players and you have had some great players in recent times, let down by a few big names who courted the media but never had the talent to deliver what was needed on the pitch.
Anyway as I said previously all the best to Lee Keegan in the future, Mayo are a far weaker team without him.

If you want to read an embarrassing post just read your own drivel, hardly worthy of a response tbh.
I can see Keegan getting a spot on the Sunday Game alright, RTE will love to have him onboard I'm sure though I think Colm Boyle would make a far better pundit.
Just hope there's a subtitles option for Keegan lol. He's a hard man to understand from having heard him a few times on Off The Ball etc over the years.

I think it's an own goal by the GAA when the likes of Lee Keegan retires. The man hasn't kicked a ball for Mayo from the end of June. Players start to enjoy their time away from the full time commitment they have to put into county. Goes to show no matter how poor a year a player has they still deserve credit.

But maybe Lee will give his own opinions and not just
repeat what Joe Brolly said.

Can I just add as well as a Donegal person that it is indeed a stupid, and more, post. Respect to one of the very best who played the game ever and stood out arguably as the best of all who participated in those titanic clashes during the 2010s.

Another stupid and thoughtless post Tirchonaill1. Most genuine GAA posters, even very close rivals recognize greatness when they see it (Lee Keegan) but also recognize foolishness and ignorance when they read it!

Replying To WanPintWin:  "He's on the panel and actually started against yourselves in the 2020 Connacht final. He kicked an early score in that match from what I remember. He had a brilliant year for Moycullen in 2020 when they won their first county title. He racked up big scores from play and frees. I think he scored at least 1 goal in every match.
That got him into the county panel and team for that Covid championship, which started and ended for us in 1 match in the Connacht final.
He's been excellent again this year and was unmarkable when Moycullen beat Corofin in the group stage.
He has a lot of qualities. The problem with intercounty today is there's only room for a very small number of out and out scoring forwards.
Rob Finnerty was doing well in that role for us this year, but Dessie definitely deserves to be tried again."
You just summed up the farcical state that modern gaelic football is in with your quote " The problem with intercounty today is there's only room for a very small number of out and out scoring forwards."
Ludicrous, something has to change
