Let's pray and hope that all the injuries heal up.
Without Jippo, Damien, Dee, Mogie, Mac and Matt would be much too heavy to bring into the championship. The above are all key players and if available in 4 weeks time we are in with a great chance of beating Galway.
The young guns are doing well but we need real leaders on board. Even the loss of 2 or 3 of those mentioned would still be a cause for concern.
If the game was let's say In two weeks from now we would be in a race against time but surely four weeks gives them every chance to recover and become match fit.
With Devit,Hearne,Higgins, K Foley, Flood ( who I think is better as a forward) Scallan and R Lawlor.
( what a boost if he could play) would lesson the worry that Egan must have right now.

Replying To Wexfordgaa:  "Eanna played for GOH moved to Sarsfield in cork back to Ross then up to Carrick shock in Kilkenny. Rugby has become huge in the town. Soccer was massive has gone back but is coming strong again. Problem is the likes of Benny wall has stepped away from the club and there is no one there to fill the void from behind the scenes. Also the likes of mick cleere who would be a stalwart of the club has moved to cuahinstown and training with cushinstown. There was a lot of people around my age who left the town during the recession too and haven't come back. The very good team they had underage with the likes of bull relis and Brendan furlong who played for wexford and played oulart in premier finals I don't think there is any involved with the club anymore. I think losing the intermediate final to cushinstown was a killer to the club and have never really recovered. Was talking to someone in the club and said he wouldn't be surprised if they were relegated"
That's a real shame but only one way forward and that's up! County board should be pumping games promotion resources in there but obviously the club needs to help itself too. I'd never be worried about other sports being strong (tends to fluctuate anyway), in my experience if the club is being well run then young boys and girls will play.

Good luck to the Wexford minors today and tonydoranfan if his son is playing......................................................................
Is it unusual that not 1 St. Martins player in the team, panel or extended panel? Nobody from Rathnure in team or subs as well?

Good luck to all the lads. Tonydoranfan not answering but probably can't when he's driving to Portlaoise! Probably more of a surprise about St Martins than Rathnure tbh. Also surprising there aren't more Oulart players they have a particularly good bunch of young fellas at this grade apparently, unless some are now overage.

Minors beat Kerry by 27 points. Not sure it's fair on the Kerry lads that they were put into tier 1. At least Tonydoranfan will be happy on his drive home.

And well done to all our lads on a great win! Hopefully they can build on it next time out against Dublin, which is likely to be the toughest game in the group.

The lads headed off for Portugal last night. It seems to me a bit silly they didnt go next week . A lot of them are teachers and students and will be off for Easter anyway

I suppose taking in the start of championship it probably makes more sense to go now.

u20s had a training weekend also last weekend so all systems go for all teams for championship.

Or maybe that is why they went this week.

I would imagine the price of flights & accommodation is double the price on the two weeks Easter break.

I see the U 20s are fixed to play Galway on Friday 21st April in Portlaoise with the 1st round of the senior then on Saturday evening in Salthill.

Surely common sense should prevail and they could be played as a double header on the Saturday in Pearse Stadium.

Hope they have a great time and come back refreshed and raring to go. I'd say they went this week to have an extra week at home to work on stuff to get ready for Salthill.

Might simply be to do with flight prices. They've a habit of jumping up enormously in any week of school/college holidays.

Yeah, that one's a bit of a mess all right.

Could be wrong, but I think one of the conditions under which Galway were accepted into Leinster U20 championship was that other counties wouldn't actually have to travel to Galway to meet them.

Presume a change from that would require the agreement of the Wexford team management, and that they'd be focused only on their own match, and wouldn't want to hand Galway home advantage instead of playing it in a neutral venue. Unfortunate for supporters and just about everybody else, but can see it from their point of view too.

That would make much more sense although I would say our county board might not want to give Galway home advantage

That would be brilliant for us fans. But way too sensible for the powers that be!

Has the full squad travelled lads? Hopefully all the lads can enjoy it and the injured lads can take some part in the training

Even if they had the u20 game on the morning of the match with say 3 hours between the games lads could get to both.

I'd imagine even if someone is injured and can't train they will still travel for full time physio and mental care available, there essentially being treated like professional athletes for 5 days.

Or as we called it back in my day, a holiday.
