Replying To Afinestick:  "Thats Good news considering how long our injury list was. Disappointing Carty misses out think he could have been a very good option at wing back. Touch wood Hanlon makes it he is a big leader for this team. Team could look something like Lawlor, Shane Reck, Jippo, Devitt, Donohoe , Damien Reck, Hanlon, Dee O Keeffe, Dunbar, Jacko , Oisin Foley, Chin, ROC, Mac, Hearne (third midfielder)
This would leave likes of McGovern, Dwyer, Richie Lawlor, Flood , McGuckian, Kevin Foley and David Clarke as options off the bench. I would leave Conor Foley with the 20s if we can atall.
If the we have these lads and all of them are fit and ready to go we can produce a performance on Saturday."
Agree about Carty also. Hopefully he will be back to play some part in the championship.

Replying To Viking66:  "Id have any of the 1st 6 subs named instead of Jacko tbh. He's looked really poor this year. Hopefully he starts and plays really well in Salthill after me saying that! Agree about Conor Foley."
I think Egan could easily start McGuckian he seems to be giving him a lot of game time. I just put Jacko in as Galway are always incredibly physical and we need to match them from the start

I would leave Conor Foley to play u20 too but based on team selections over the league, injuries and that the u20 game on Friday isn't knockout I think its nearly certain he'll be in the 26 on Saturday and if O'Hanlon is out could well start.

Being big and being physical are 2 completely different things though.

McGovern is a good option to have too. We do have good options if everyone is fit . We probably have more lads to choose from than 2019 the only problem is lads like Chin, Hanlon, Dee, McGovern & Fanning are now in their early 30s and probably past their peak. Hopefully these lads who have been great servants can give us a few more days to remember!

McGovern and O'Hanlon were as good as ever in last year's championship hopefully they can reach those levels this year, don't think age has anything to do with Fanning's drop in form just a loss in confidence since the game in Mullingar last year.

For me I start with the following
Lawlor,
S reck. Hanlon, donohue
D reck, Ryan, foley (under 20 not knock out)
Dok, Dunbar
O foley, Chin, j o connor
Rory, Mac, Lawlor

I think our form and the fact that we have so many injuries and a real lack of game time with some of our established players, coupled with seemly no game plan/structure from management will see Galway win by 7 to 10 points. But ny God do do I really hope I am wrong and we get a result on Saturday evening.

McGovern and matt were excellent last year.

Fannings problems started long before then.

Can't see jipp at centre back.

Damien is our best player at the minute so for me has to be 6.

I wouldn't judge them too harshly yet.

Surely gamelan and structure are set now we're finished experimenting?

I expect a big performance. Coming from the camp they know where they need to get to.

Will it be enough? Let's wait and see.

Realistically we can afford to lose this, but we'll have to win the rest which is no easy task.

I'd be hoping Mogie starts. Still one of the best in the county.

Not neccessarily. There hasn't been a Leinster Round Robin yet that needed 8 points to make the final.

I agree both were very good last year. Be interesting to see if Egan goes for Lawlor or Fanning on Saturday

We will definitely be going in hope rather than expectation. Real concern about that forward line delivering a score capable of winning a championship game. Hoping I guess likes of Chin and ROC can cause havoc but that's going to very difficult against a physically strong Galway defence with likely an extra man back there.

Don't think it's worth risking MOH if he isn't 100% and possibly put him out of the rest of the championship as a result.

Taught Fanning improved a good bit under Davy but after the Westmeath game last year has lost his confidence.

I have never been less excited for championship or had less expectations since Liam Dunne era

Salt hill is probably the toughest place to start the round robin

I'd go with

Fanning
S Reck Ryan Donohue
DOK
C Foley D Reck Hanlon
R Lalor Chin
Oisin Foley Jacko Rory O Conor
Mac C Hearne

Jacks job would be to take the CB out of the game - be it Burke or Mc Inerney and be a big physical presence and stop them dominating and using the half back line as a launch pad for attack. Hook hassle Harry and never let his man past him. He would be instructed to not even try and catch the ball but break it down every time for Chin/ lalor or whoever to run onto. We need to push up and not concede the short pick out too

My team for Saturday if O'Hanlon is fit

Lawlor

S Reck
Ryan
Devitt

Dee (Sweeper)

Donohoe
O'Hanlon
D Reck

McGovern
Dunbar

R Lawlor
Chin
McGuckin

ROC
Conor Mac

Hopefully no injuries picked up during the game and from the 6 of Hearne, Jacko, Dwyer, K Foley, O Foley, Flood there's 5 lads who can make a difference coming in.
