Replying To Paull:  "I see the Wexford U20 team is named again with no changes to the starting team from Kildare match.
I assume this is just a dummy team as am I right in thinking that if anyone plays tonight they cannot play v Laois at the weekend?"

3 changes to the team named including Brian Cushe been left out so obviously he's part of the plans for Seniors.

Great win for the minors last night. From following it on twitter, they got off to an electric start and were composed thereafter. From what I am told, they are meant to be a talented crop of lads (the few chaps I have seen in the flesh before did look very good). Green shoots of recovery hopefully.

Good. This is where the effort starts - underage. Target competitive minor showings 5 years from now and it will improve.

No sign of Coleman, big loss. Massive test for the team.

He was a big loss ultimately as the length of his kickouts could have wreaked havoc.

Played very well in the first half (and were excellent for large chunks of that) but disappointing thereafter. Have to consider the amount of bodies we were missing and subsequently lost during the game itself, but at the same time we coughed up too many mistakes throughout the game. My one worry after the league was the amount of scoreable frees we conceded in every game, and that materialised again.

Gallant display though and hopefully get a bit of a run in the Tailteann- we aren't ready for the Sam Maguire as it is so better off competing at a realistic level.

I have to agree with you there beano.
It was so disappointing to lose 2 players in the warm-up, a lot of last minute re-shuffling was needed. And then to lose Hughes so early ( he was obviously hampered by the injury he received early in the game ) was a fatal blow.
Yes, some basic errors, but overall I think we are heading in the right direction.

Fair play to any of the Wexford fans that travelled up, there was a good spread around the stand.

The strong wind made it a real game of two halves, as in the league there wasn't much between the teams, the Laois goal before half time from the goalie mistake really turned the game.

I see the comment above to say Wexford aren't strong enough for Sam Maguire and either are Laois let's be honest, all the best in the Tailteann!

does the manager need to rethink this all out attacking style of football? while it great to look at it does leave us very exposed on the counter

Neither of the give-away goals that cost us the game on Sunday were counter-attack scores, just silly basic mistakes.

Really entertaining game on Sunday both teams went out to play the game the right way, what killed us in my view was being a point up at half time playing with the strong wind, you could point to the soft goal conceded before half time but our 1st goal Laois would be equally as disappointed so they sort of cancel each other out, the wides killed us in my view and by right we should have 1-13 or 1-14 scored at half time rather than 1-8, the wind was worth 6 points in my view and we'd enough chances to build up a lead like that, taught Laois turned the screw in the 2nd half and were deserving winners by the end. As each passing year goes by my admiration of KOG goes up, taught he was our best player on Sunday and seems to be ageing like a fine wine, you couldn't make up the bad luck we had regards injuries and by reports some of them are serious enough. Condolences to the Laois panel member and his family on the tragic passing of his brother, really hits home the insignificance of sport in the bigger picture.

Not sure he has any other option. Go ultra conservative and where will it take Wexford Football? it won't take us any further and in my view would make it even harder for lads to commit to the game. Give it time and they will learn and evolve. I think everyone should now believe they have what it takes to get out of D4 and that will help push them on further.

I think he has the balance pretty good now. Eliminate a few of the silly mistakes and turnovers and this panel should go far. Apparently Porter will be back for the TC but it's looking bad for Coleman.

Always loved Wexford in both codes..ran up a decent score V Laois in football on Sunday..poor or unlucky mistakes at the back were costly..sone great players as as always Wexford have..Ben Brosnan a massive consistent player now that others have retired or moved on.. pity that good team under Jason Ryan didn't get a provincial title..
