Six nations after a world cup always feels a bit flat, especially as none of the teams made the final, I'm by no means a huge rugby fan but I follow the international games. Personally interested to see what shape England will be in without Farrell, the game here in England seems to be an odd place at the moment.

Cricket and Rugby League seem to be making huge strides to at least try and engage with the public to survive under the all encompassing Premier League.

Rugby just seems to be happy ticking along knowing that the posh boys will turn up at Twickers no matter what.

Not sure. France have played plenty of matches outside of Paris over the years, but don't know if there's been a Six Nations one outside Paris before.

Will be a tight game all right. Hopefully Farrell has a trick up the sleeve and the new lads step up, but France should shade it. Still a very strong team and Sexton a bigger loss for us than Dupont is for them I reckon.

38 - 17 who would have thought that especially against France. - Ireland responded better to the world cup defeat than Trance, Andy Farrell may not have to look further than Jack Crowley for Sextons replacement although Sam Prendergast may be in with a shout in the not too distant future. 38 pts / 5 tries was not in the script especially in the French back yard, neither was 5 tries, or a 21 pt. win and a bonus point.

I like watching rugby but one sided games against poor opposition are same as in any sport so returned to my book.

Just hope Dublin are not France to Tipp's Ireland this afternoon!

Probably the best I have ever seen Ireland play against one of the top rated teams…. Sexton wasn't missed at all

France were shorter odds than us to win the RWC. Poor opposition they certainly aren't.

Good win for Ireland n the post Sexton era. A new team, making their own history.

Jack Crowley certainly stepped up, as did Joe McCarthy. Probably best display from an Irish team in years. Squad depth is very impressive, which will alleviate the hit from future retirements. Winning comfortably against France away is no mean feat. Bin

So when did you actually return to your book in this 'one sided' game? Was it at half-time when Ireland were leading by 7 points, or was it after 60 minutes (3/4 of the game) when Ireland were still only leading this 'one sided' game by 7 points?

I'll have to check the CCTV camera. Quite obvious there was only going to be one winner. Good way to turn a few bob in play by the way, once you detach yourself.

France missing their talisman, their outhalf too, Willemse sent off after 20 mins, they were also missing key forwards, good win but perspective needed.

France were missing 3 players, the same as Ireland

Missing Ringrose and Hansen hardly equivalent to the best player in the world plus Ntamack and a key forward. Plus a red card.

Really? It is fairly equivalent! Ring rose and Hansen would be in every discussion for a world team of of the year.

Can we just not sit back and enjoy the moment ? Why do we always seem to do what we are best at - begrudgery. I am not a rugby supporter but I support any sportsperson when they pull on the green jersey. We probably should have won the World Cup. We didn't - so what. Ireland had a wonderful win last night. They were short players and we were. We didn't ask that French player to lose the run of himself and get sin binned - twice.

Absolutely. France weren't poor. They were awful.
