Replying To Loughduff Lad:  "Oh and I never said it didn't lessen our chances, it absolutely does. I want to be out of there, and was never happy that we were down there, I just don't judge everything by being down there. We have shown we're better in Championship, but League has bit us this year by not allowing us into qualifiers. You always seem to take a twisted interpretation on what I say, and you can't seem to separate out different arguments."
We would have been in the qualifiers if we had beaten an average out of sorts Donegal but we didn't… let's agree to disagree as regards the league and hopefully Mickey Graham has learned his lesson to take it more seriously in future ( I don't count this season because Tommy Carr would have got us out of that division )….. What are your thoughts for Sunday…? We should be winning this with something to spare…. A Final v Westmeath could be tasty but I wouldn't rule Offaly out of causing an upset…. Either way next season is all about getting out of Div 3 and back playing decent opponents before a tilt at the Championship….. A whole new ball game now with Derry and Armagh upping the anti….

Not so sure about that! We couldn't beat Antrim or Fermanagh when TC thought he was a County Manager!

Yeah we should be winning this alright. Think we're more than a level above Sligo, and if we come out ready to go like v Fermanagh, we should see this off. Will Moynagh be back? Haven't heard anything about injuries. We'd have had challenges last week, and likes of Marty and Holla will be further down the road from their injuries. I think we're in a very good place right now with the squad, and the U20s in will be pushing them on too with that injection, it's good to see. We are better than Sligo in most parts of the field, it's a matter of having the work done and then doing it out there. The final should we reach it will be tough though. Either Westmeath or Offaly will be a challenge, but still think we should be able to do enough for them.

Will be good to get another spin on Croker, and hopefully with the splutter we had in the League final, we should have HQ nerves out of our system. It's really good we're getting games here. The big teams play there regularly, and are used to the wide open spaces, and know what you need to do to win there. We got away with the win in the League final, but a win here Sunday, and then hopefully on to a final will do a lot of good there. Most of the lads will have played there multiple times since 2020 now. Wasn't a fan of this competition initially with the way it was set up, but seeing the merits of some aspects of it now, and we may as well win it. But yeah, get up and be ready for next year, as Ulster is looking harder and harder.

And do we think we'll bring a good crowd? I'm hearing of quite a few of my local circle at home who are going. Normally some are fair weather supporters, but a semi in Croker in summer is drawing them out. Can't see a huge crowd in Croker obviously, but think we'll see a good Cavan crowd at least. Hopefully so too.

We will get a decent crowd but while 10000 in say Breffni park would look huge the same amount in Croke park will look dismal….. Anyway a win and another Final to look forward to is much more important…..

It will, but that's the selling point of the competition. Semis and final on TV in Croker so they'll stick with that now.

Sad to hear about the passing of Enda McGowan. A proper no nonsense half back. Deepest Sympathy to the family.

Niall Murphy ruled out for Sligo. A quality forward.
Alan Reilly seemed to have a good game against Leitrim. Sean Carrabine capable of a few scores

Cavan should have enough. They need to be in the All Ireland series next year through winning this competition, and aspire to be like Clare and get to All Ireland Quarters

You're not grasping this are you?
This isn't my opinion. It's a mathematical table based on results.
I didn't make those results up. They literally happened.
I can't just move Cavan, or any other team, up to down the pecking order because you, me or anyone else feels we should.

Asked on results of the past few years we are in the top 24. Somewhere between 17-24.
It will become clearer next year if we can break into the top 16 i.e promotion.

Murphy a big loss if this is true…Carrabine is a class act and will need watching… I totally agree with the rest as regards making the Q finals like Clare next season…

In all fairness there is no point in going over and back talking about results from years back that put together might inflate or deflate our current position… We are where we are for whatever reason and we just have to get on with it and try and work our way back up… if we are in the Taltainn Cup we therefore are ranked in the bottom half of 33 competing teams in 2022….simple.. Now get on with it and get in the top half next season..

No, you're right, there's no point going back over, I'm literally just showing incredulity that they think we're somewhere around the 24th team in the country when we're clearly not, based on any modicum of Championship form.

We eat Antrim in the Ulster Championship this year 2022. We beat no one in the Ulster championship in 2021.
Is that the championship form your talking about?
We are not ranked in the top 16 otherwise we would be in the qualifiers.
Get over yourself and call it for what it is.
We have beaten Down, Antrim Fermanagh all Div 3 teams next year.
Possibility of playing Offaly or Westmeath (div 3 ) in final if we beat Sligo (div4).
At the moment that's our level until we prove different.
Suck it up!

You can't think an arbitrary drawing of a split along League lines is a definitive line above which we can't pass for Championship? It was split on League, and we're more than capable for a lot of Division 2 level side. We have already shown that we are far above the Division 3 sides, and a relegated Division 2 side in Championship this year by thrashing them out the gate. I keep an eye out on all manner of ranking tables, from the ELO rankings I previously shared, OTB power rankings, and even that last 38 Championship games table someone shared here a few days ago. You know what they all have in common? No matter the ranking system, they all align and practically all sides are in the same position in each. And Cavan occupy the area around 10 -14. So we're nowhere near 24 by any measure you look at.

Look at it this way, with your logic would you say that all Champions League sides are better than Europa League sides seeing as they're split that way? So last season Malmo are better than Frankfurt or Lazio? Madness, in any split you'll get some who shouldn't be where they are, either up a level too high, or a level too low.

Suck it up yourself, jeez you'd nearly think you're wishing us to be brutal, like it'd prove you right is a sadomasochistic sort of way. We all know we had terrible League results last number of years, but far better Championship results. And yes, we didn't have a win last year. We got beat by the eventual AI Champions and it was a Covid competition with no back door

So anyway, final thoughts for Sunday? I think we'll have more than enough here. Heard an interview with Mickey and we have a clean bill of health injury wise, and trainings have been intense as they've been battling for places. Really good to hear, we need to turn up and produce a performance we know we have in use, and keep pushing that bar up. One of my hopes is that James Smith will get a goal. He's had a lot of chances this year and only for unreal saves and posts and crossbars he's have had more than a few goals. His play deserves it, so just my little wish for Sunday. On top of getting the win of course. Best of luck lads

Interesting that you consider Dublin's level the 2nd tier. I personally think they are better than that but yous lads are the experts

My expert opinion is that Dublin won't end up slipping all the way down to Division 4…. like we managed to do under Mickey Graham…

Strong team named again. Ciaran Holla and Marty Reilly named to start. Moynagh is back but named on the bench. Fortune and Carolan also to the bench. Looks good, with decent bench options to come on too.
