Excellent by performance by Monaghan beating the Dubs and a very good game of football with little back passing. Some great performances playing as a team.

This is embarrassing and i hope it doesn't come back to bite us. Cavan have actual won a Ulster alot more recent then us and have 5 All Ireland's to there name, making them one of the most successful counties in Ulster,so lets have a bit of respect."
Spoken by a true cavan man.

No, your embarrassing the rest of us Monaghan gaels, and your doing it on multiple threads.
Wind it in a bit please for yourself and for us.

Your main contribution seems to be to trolling. Maybe time to take a break for a few weeks.

Now dust has settled from really good win at weekend I'd still say lot of patience needed. Younger players will be inconsistent over the league and no other teams will give us the same space that the dubs did on Saturday night to attack. Am optimistic about the future but short term don't be surprised at a few bumps along the way. Kerry will be determined to open their account in clones this weekend. However that said we have given ourselves a great chance to stay up by winning last Saturday. Its two points on the road on the first day rather than last day like last year so you'd have to be hopeful although don't forget a lot of teams do well on the first day out in the league and fall away after when other teams catch up after the first few matches. Donegal last year a great example.

Replying To shaggylegend:  "Solution to the goal keeper situation is an outfield player. Unfortunately aside from McDonnell bad error for the goal yesterday. The kickout return has been very poor when a quick kick out isn't an option.

Vinny and Monaghan want to play with the Keeper coming out the field and being a link man.

Beggan kickout retention is up with the best around.

At the end of the day I feel sorry for anyone stepping into his shoes, because we are talking about a player who has revolutionised the goalkeepers position and so important to Monaghan fortunes over the years."
If only we had followed this advice and had an outfielder in goal against the Dubs… Deary me…

Fair play to McDonnell he was super on Saturday evening. Big shoes to fill.

Sure Kerry's Shane Ryan is an outfielder player. But then maybe Jack O'Connor knows nothing about football.

Shane Ryan played goals for Kerry at every age group since u14… Was in goal for them in the 2013 minor championship. He just happens to be an unbelievable outfield player, thus is utilised there by his club team…
Perhaps it is you that knows nothing about football sir.

Give me an outfield player in Monaghan that could pick a man out with a kickout against a press. Come on, I need a good chuckle.

It's all well and good giving these mad statements without actually naming someone that could play the role.

No need for personal attacks. I just gave my opinion on the possibility of playing an outfield player in goals. Just like Ethan Rafferty with Armagh and James Califf in Louth just to name two. It's a forum which people give there opinions. The way Monaghan play, the ability of the goal keeper to be comfortable on the ball out the field is paramount.

You'd be a while making all the half half jerseys around Monaghan with every club! Good joke though… 12 months later.

Okay- Anyway we can quit the nonsense and just use the thread for its purpose..

Lets focus now on Kerry now on Sunday. Do we think management will go with same team (if possible) or is there any changes to be made??

McNulty deserve his spot? There wasn't much he done wrong while being on the field. Tough for Vinny and co selecting a team going by last weeks performance.

Expect a backlash from Kerry after their defeat at home last week. But imagine another 2 points on the board this weekend? Wouldn't it be ideal. Bring the same intensity and courage as shown against Dublin last week and we wont be far away. Lets start back backing performances up by having two good days in a row.

Hopefully a massive crowd in Clones on Sunday to support the team and management,
