Sean Kelly and Conor Regan will defintely not play a part in the final you can take that to the bank. I would agree on Kelly being a senior footballer, I think Regan is probably at his level to be honest.

Hate is too strong a word. There's no dispute - St Loman's have been the best club side in the county since 2013. However, I don't see the current Loman's side as being their best, that's largely down to the full back line and their inability to deal with the high ball. That's their biggest weakness and it's for this reason that I think The Downs will do it. The Kinnegad game was the perfect test for The Downs as they will face a similar defensive set up against St Loman's - 13 men behind the ball. Darragh O'Keeffe and David Whelan haven't faced anything like Niall Mitchell and Luke Loughlin yet this year. Expect a similarly tight and tense final from 2022, low scoring and one goal may make the difference again. The Downs by 3 and don't believe the hype on the podcast or by Gerry B!!

This is what I call hype, never heard of half of the St Loman's players mentioned.

Also like to mention both referees in yesterday's games in cusack park , both excellent both got everything spot on and neither made the game about themselves … so credit to both for excellent jobs were always quick to slate a poor refereeing performance but both Barry Nea and Barry pierce were absolutely excellent TheGaaMan77 (Westmeath) - Posts: 70 - 30/09/2024 10:05:47 2572475 Link 0 |
Yea I think The Downs starting team will match Lomans for 45 minutes, but the Lomans bench is stronger than The Downs and that will be the winning of the game.

Tj Cox was an unused sub yesterday too which I was suprised with but a possible injury there. Bringing in the likes of him and Peter Foy in a final when players are tired will destroy any team. Foy was electric yesterday and could've scored 3/4 points in the space of 15 minutes. Not like him but those days don't happen very often in front of the goals for him. They have danger everywhere, Kelvin Reilly, Conor O'Donoghue, Nathan Lally and Rory Sheehan all came in yesterday and would start on any other team. Scary depth.

Well said, Lomans to wipe the floor with Downs. Hope Luke can find his way out of Kinnegad mans pocket before Oct 13 th. lakecounty90 (Westmeath) - Posts: 118 - 30/09/2024 12:51:34 2572526 Link 0 |
Be careful naming lads from Loman's subs as IarmhiAbu probably has no idea who Kelvin Reilly is.

The St Loman's hype machine rolls on, Kelvin Reilly is a good footballer and hurler.

St.Lomans win again without breaking sweat-thats 6 wins in c/ship and nobody came within an asses roar of them-and cant see the Downs changing that.10 finals in succession is some achievment but having it so easy in Westmeath might hamper their chances in Leinster but hopefully not-it would be great to see St.Lomans in a Leinster club final. The Downs have a good chance, bookies likely to price this at 4-6 Loman's, 6-4 The Downs, possibly closer. O' Sullivan, Mitchell, Loughlin, Nolan, Coughlan, Kilmartin, Lynam, Moran and Martin brothers are physically strong and well able to compete. Mark Kelly's absence will be felt though. He had a huge game two years ago and is missing. Claretandblue (Westmeath) - Posts: 1948 - 30/09/2024 19:09:56 2572607 Link 0 |
PP online; Lomans 2/9 The Downs 11/4. I wasn't expecting that.

Strange to see gambling odds being quoted on a GAA forum with all the issues it raises. I know in this case it being used to highlight the perceived chances for each team. Really down to what team really wants it on the day and that makes it so interesting a final. Both there on merit despite what some on forum here have said, both well capable of beating each other.

most here are adults gambling addiction can be serious no doubt but giving a price on a team is hardly pushing gambling.

I believe Garrycastle won't be appealing. That means both Junior finals will be contested by Junior clubs, which can't be a bad thing. Big finals coming up for Joseph's, Castletown-Finea, Ballinagore and Delvin.

Has anyone any news on a new County Manager. The situation is beyond ridiculous. Do those involved in selecting the manager not realise that a prospective new manager should be viewing the talent available during Championship action. Its very hard to believe what's going on. I can only think it must be a Westmeath man or at least somebody very familiar with the local game if they've waited this long. That or they've already given it to somebody who's currently in another role and they're waiting until their year is over to announce it. I'd say it's probably the former. Did hear a rumour of Alan Mangan but that could be rubbish.

Who are the people picking the manager? Are they qualified to pick the manager? My answer is no. Jack Cooney the only one qualified so is it Jack Cooney picking the manager by himself? Looks like it. Why did one of the members of the committee leave the committee? Clubs should have been allowed to nominate names at county board meeting then they could interview them names. The way it was done in Meath. We are 2 months in and seems no one wants the job and the selection committee don't deem anyone within the county good enough Temple56 (Westmeath) - Posts: 518 - 01/10/2024 14:55:36 2572701 Link 0 |
