I'm not fully versed on it but was under the impression his preference was an internal club transfer, when that wasn't possible he went with the inter County option, he is a good footballer who has had some awful injuries 3 torn acls I wish him well.

Any player who transfers to a club in another county can still play for Carlow… assuming Carlow want the player, of course.

First game out with a young team playing a strong Kildare team.

Better today against Wicklow.

Still lots of players to come back in.

He really rang the changes, great to have panel of young lads to do that.

Seems to be bringing lads on for the future which is a
great thing to be doing.

The Fitzgibbon cup players are being rested as is Mouse
so when they return it has the makings of a great panel.

Very poor display. Carlow never looked like scoring nor threatening and failed to score for the first 20 odd minutes with a serious wind behind them.
Longford looking realtively strong given what they have with Christie but surely they shouldn't be walking over Carlow like that? Aware its only Obyrne cup but still.

Perhaps Barrowsider (Carlow) or carlovia (Carlow) might be able to fill us in on the line out and sub's used in the game against Longford last Sat.

Mlr have added an under 20 football championship to their list of honours. Eire Og could not shake them off as Rangers fought like hell to ward off the Townies.
A great winning point too after Eire Og went ahead in injury time courtesy of a Quinlan free.
Rangers attacked at every opportunity and drew plenty of frees as they ran at speed at Eire Og.
Really good competitive second half. Eire Og were beaten by a very hungry and fearless Rangers. Well done to them.

Great result for football in the south of the county and should Be a great result for carlow football. However, with the politics at play in This county it is unlikely we'll see any of these lads asked into the u20 county squad, like the minor farce in 2020.

MlR winning the u 20 football is a historic first for their club. Eire Og were out battled and Rangers were deserving winners.
Looking at the u 20 football county players capable of playing or have been asked to join in some will decline due to college or some will or have opted for u 20 hurling panel.
The real issue is the fact that we have so few players up to the standard required.
I can't comment on the 'farce' of a previous minor team as I have no idea what was involved but there is a gap between minor and under 20 and while some have identified that as an issue and one or two have tried to fill that gap with a set programme, we have not really addressed the point that we are well behind in the physical stakes when we reach u 20.

Obviously there was no truth in this rumour?? Would love to have seen Murphy give it one more year. Even putting him around the square would cause a lot of trouble. Best of luck to all the lads who have committed on Saturday v Wicklow. A win in the first game is hugh as we try to build momentum

Quietly optimistic about the League campaign this year. Dunphy and Moran back in, along with Morrisey's return to full fitness. Amond, Molloy and Jonah Dunne are good additions to the panel. When adding that to the likes of Crowley, Hulton, Foley, Moore, Clarke, Doyle and the Bambricks, it's the strongest panel we've had since Turlough left IMO.

No disrespect to Cunningham, but it's a shame they couldn't get Gaffney in from Tinryland. Best keeper in the county based on last season.

I think the fixtures panned out pretty favourably also. Wicklow, Sligo, Laois at home. London, Wexford, Waterford and Lietrim away.

Having those three teams at home is good. Wexford, Waterford and London are winnable away games. Going up to Lietrim is a tough ask, but if they win the home games, they'll be in a great position to gain promotion.

Positives, 3 points down in 2nd half with 14 men & fought back for a draw. We even had the last kick of game to win it but unfortunately it was too far out of range for Foley. We would have lost that game a year or 2 ago.
Negatives, gave away so many handy frees in front of goal, we can't seem to hold up the player but instead pull them down for a handy tap over free. Their goalie also kicked at least 3 frees from fouls a little further out. Our shot selection was questionable at times & we often ran out of ideas in attack & got turned over. We also left a couple of goals behind us. Doyle was unlucky with the 2nd yellow but when your already booked you have to be so careful. How many times do Carlow Football & Hurling teams shoot ourselves in the foot with getting men sent off??? To be honest Moran was also blessed not to get a 2nd yellow, the ref obviously didn't want to send off a 2nd Carlow man.
Now I wouldn't ref in a million years & they have such a hard job but he hadn't a good game last night for both sides. Div 4 teams are always the guinea pigs for new refs to earn their stripes but he was so fussy & nearly every tackle was a yellow card. If he reffed a div 1 game like that he would never get another game. There must have been 10 cards in a game without a dirty stroke.
Anyway onwards to Waterford. Other game was a draw also so not too much ground lost. This young team is getting more experienced & dug out a draw when it looked like a defeat.
