Looks like we're going strong for Tyrone…excited to see if roarty gets any action. Have we anyone else in a similar age bracket as good as him?

Jim looking for another Paddy Mc Breatey, Its outrageous hes allowed to throw in an 18 year old without him even playing club football. Look at Paddy Mc breatey, threw in at a young age and has never lived up to the full potential through injury etc.

He's not in the squad so if this rule is in fact correct he's gone for this year. Be interesting to see what Ulster council decide. Looks a good morning so hoping for a good match, strong team named but looks like the tried and trusted are going to be starting league..

I don't think Roarty ever was going to be part of the squad for the league. It was just a matter of giving him a taste of what was involved in the senior setup.

It's funny how officious the GAA can be when implementing certain rules, and refuse to intervene where rules have been blatantly broken in a game televised live nationally like last January club final!

That was in 2010. Under 16s couldn't play Senior

Was at the game today. Quite lucky to get out with a win. Tide turned when kilpatrick came on and dominated in the air. I know it's only McKenna Cup but Are we short a few big men in the middle. Would be thinking along the lines of Jason Campbell Kilcar

Paddy has an All-Ireland and 5 Ulster medals. He didn't do too badly.

I'm not from Swanlinbar. They were beaten on the day but awarded the title, maybe should have been replayed. It was common knowledge U16s couldn't play.

McGee and Langan are very small allright.

Donegal probably have some of the biggest and rangiest players in Ulster. McGee, Langan, Thompson and Hughie.

Not sure what the outcome of the Roarty case but tbh it is pretty poor that they (or whoever is responsible) hadn't checked this out and confirmed the position before they played the lad.

Does the rule apply for intercounty only or does it apply to club football as well? I must admit that I thought if you were overage for county minor u-17 then you were eligible to play senior.

They can play club football but not Inter County when over 17.

Donegal are going to lose the points from the game that Finbarr Roarty played in, but that's the extent of the punishment. Bit of a let-down for himself that he thought he'd be up with the county for a while and is gone after 1 game for reasons outside his control.
I think it's a good rule though, and he'll still have plenty of outlets for his football beyond this 1 team.

Reports are that Jim is getting 8 weeks, Roarty is getting 2 weeks and we lose the points

Is this not a case where croke park suits havnt made a decision on the age group thing, instead leaving it to individual county boards..is the player overage for minor,if so then I think he can play at adult level..
