Jack and his brother played underage with Naomh Conail, with there Father managing a lot of there teams on way up. Who also played with Naomh Conail. In both the Doherty's and McKelvey's case, there parents were all proud Naomh Conail men, and that's the reason they play there. Anyone else want to question any other player that plays for Naomh Conail, and where there from. I mean I believe we have a player that's parents came from cavan 80 years ago, will we send him back. Some people would try anything to soil the success our club has had in recent times, but that desperation makes me laugh. It's a shame Eunan didn't get more game time when on the Donegal panel, he is as good as what was starting. Small but hard and brave. Yea as I said previously they have the biggest catchment area in the county - should really be 2 clubs in that.

I don't have any hatred for glenties/Fintown - I've said numerous times they are a fantastic club and others could learn lots from them including my own club. I don't have anything to b envious of with your recent success - we are the most successful club in the county and have dominated for the last 25 odd years eunans4ever (Donegal) - Posts: 1693 - 22/06/2023 13:12:23 2488399 Link 0 |
Just like Letterkenny should be properly split into 2 instead of the half hearted way it is at the minute. By the way it still bothers you to call us Naomh Conaill???

Well they could ask the mountains, lakes and boglands to form a second club Seeing as how the logic is that the size of area makes a big club - instead of the size of playing population. Al_Maguire (Donegal) - Posts: 259 - 22/06/2023 13:34:40 2488410 Link 0 |
That's exactly what I said. They lived in Ballybofey, but first club was Glenfin, hence the dispute. Then they lived to NC. They did well out of it. Good luck to them. SignTheContract (Donegal) - Posts: 197 - 22/06/2023 13:38:41 2488412 Link 0 |
This forum would wreck your head, instead of discussing our upcoming game against Tyrone we are talking about the catchment area of Naomh Chonaill or arguing about previous mangers lol. Surely its population size that matters and not the size of your catchment area. Green_Gold (Donegal) - Posts: 1905 - 22/06/2023 13:57:45 2488422 Link 2 |
I know he played underage for n Conal but where did he live. Heard two places named but sure the keeper or scenic parish will fill me in. Thanks.

There wasno dispute, Mc Cumhails never looked for them. They transferred to Naomh Conaill when they moved to Fintown.

Folks, there are no boundaries in Donegal because the Croke Park report on boundaries declared them non compliant. This means that a lad from Malin, living in Malin, can play for Ballyshannon up to the age of 11. He can change clubs as many times as he wants before he plays his first u12 game. When he plays u12 that club becomes his first club . I have been involved in the Boundaries committee, representing my club and nothing is sorted yet. Some clubs have agreed boundaries with neigbouring clubs and that is fine, but nothing is written in stone until all clubs have agreed or the Boundaries committee make recommendations to the CB for ratification. donegaldouble (Donegal) - Posts: 317 - 22/06/2023 14:59:37 2488451 Link 0 |
Key question is whether Jason McGee will be fit to start? Tyrone will look at how Monaghan approached us in the 2nd half in Healy Park, I fully expect Tyrone to setup similar. I think they might risk the high press for large periods too, pushing Morgan out to their own 45 to cover the exposed side from Patton's long over the top kick. The winning of this game will depend on Donegal's efficiency on winning primary possession from our kick-outs in both halves, success with Tyrone's Kick outs, keeping possession and not running into contact. However we are still operating with a relatively inexperienced squad in comparison to Tyrone, so even if we do start the game well and if we are leading at half time, Tyrone would come at us strongly in the last 20 minutes and our efficiency will likely reduce during that period too, so Its a massive task for Donegal to win this. It's a big task ahead and again, given all that has gone on this year, all we can ask is the lads give their best and leave it all out there. They've restored a bit of pride in the jersey these past few weeks and the experience will definitely stand to the younger guys. Hopefully there will be a good crowd and who knows, with a bit of luck we can edge our dear neighbours out! Lockjaw (Donegal) - Posts: 9734 - 23/06/2023 10:08:48 2488578 Link 0 |
I'm always conflicted when we play Tyrone. I mean, they are just such a wonderful group of beautiful human beings who bring the most polite and friendly support along with them. I just hate it when we win against such a group of people. I just don't understand why every Ulster county dislikes them? I mean, what's wrong with every other single county in the province who really don't understand these beautiful Gaels : ) SignTheContract (Donegal) - Posts: 197 - 23/06/2023 10:46:40 2488587 Link 3 |
Win or lose on Saturday the fellas have restored a bit of order and pride in the jersey after a disastrous start to 2023, as long as we put on a decent display I'll be happy enough tbh, I'm hoping we can edge it by a point or two but the bookies have Tyrone as odds on favs for a reason. I expect we'll have nearly a full house on Sat evening. Tirchonaill1 (Donegal) - Posts: 3172 - 23/06/2023 11:09:13 2488594 Link 0 |
Yeah their bench will kill us.

Best of luck to all on Saturday lads and management. Should be a huge crowd and a great atmosphere. As for the outcome impossible to predict one thing that Tyrone are good at is getting there matchups right. So if eoin ban, gallen, o donnell and Thompson win there battles were in with a shout. rorysboys (Donegal) - Posts: 2607 - 23/06/2023 12:24:45 2488627 Link 0 |
They players really have restored pride in the jersey, I certainly am very proud of this group of players and how they remained and fought and stepped up. I also have to give credit to Aidan O'Rourke and Paddy Bradley, especially with how things were after the Down game. And I think Antoin McFadden has worked wonders in a short space of time, really great work. With so many experienced players missing, it allowed us to stumble upon a few new players who we otherwise would not have seen get such game time. If you look at this Donegal team, we are actually starting to plug gaps in key positions now with really strong talented players, we actually have a fairly strong starting 15, had we the likes of Michael Langan, Peadar Mogan, Ryan McHugh, Niall O'Donnell, Odhran McFadden Ferry, Shane O'Donnell and even Michael Murphy on the bench, we would be All Ireland contenders.

Time catches up with every man but I really think Murph had a few more years left for us in at FF anyway, even to have his leadership around the place and to bring him on to finish out games, I know the man owes us nothing but I think he might regret stepping way a bit early imo in years to come. I suppose he got so sick of the way things were being run last year that he said to hell with it, imagine if we had him to spring from the bench tomorrow evening...
