Any team that can enter 4 teams in this year's c ship is no small club. I don't know how the boundaries committee decided on the parish boundaries but it's a complete joke. Small clubs not given a chance nothing surprising there.

Yeah that I can agree with. But beating Tyrone isn't beyond us.

It's very simple, call our Club by its proper name, Naomi Conaill. I always refer to your Club as St Eunans. Don't get me started with catchment areas. Your Club have a huge catchment area. You also have the added advantage of players coming from all over Ireland through their work.

Aren't the Doherty lads who play for Naomh Conaill original from Ballybofey? But don't think they ever played for MacCumhaills. But fair play to NC, they are a credit. They work hard at it and get their rewards. SignTheContract (Donegal) - Posts: 197 - 21/06/2023 17:09:38 2488224 Link 2 |
The Docherty brothers are from Ballinamore, Fintown.

It is when you think about the players we are missing. We're missing probably our three most important players in Langan, Mogan and O Donnell.

The Doherty's have been in fintown for as long as I can remember, which is quite a long time. They have operated a timber business in fintown. So no idea where you got the idea they are from Ballybofey? Let's face it, eunans4ever and rorysboys have only one thing in common, there hatred and dislike of naomh conaill. But when you are successful as a club, you get that from certain individuals. Our success is down to hard work by players and managers who put in the time at underage, and we have got our rewards. Will it last forever, probably not, but I remember the days where we won the intermediate Title, and it was like an all Ireland to the club. So certain individuals can call us whatever name they want, it will not take away from the great days we have had, and hopefully more to come. I don't think there is any need to call anyone a fool. You can't have simple debate without lowering yourself to name calling. My point was that our players wernt improving, a sign of a good mgt is that players are improving and a lot of them are without doubt better players i.e mccole now looks a top full back. Let's not forget the only top tier team previous mgt ever beat was a stale tyrone under harte. In 4 years. Give the mgt a chance. Playing ban at corner back for years totally wasted. Look at him last sat. Best player on the park. You have slated the potential of our players for years on here , don't start doing same to our mgt team

Thoroughly enjoyed last Saturday's game. Your forwards have improved no end with strong running and great point taking by Gallen, Thompson, O 'Baoill and O Donnell. There must have been a score every two minutes over the 70 minutes. Expecting next Saturday to be a much tighter affair with space at a premium but a similar offensive attitude could pay dividends once again. Either way the victors will be pretty jaded going forward to play a team who are resting up this week end. Let's see how Saturday plays out first , looking forward to it. I don't slate individual players or management never have. I'll leave that to a fool like you. We win against Monaghan and your back belittling people on here. Get a life lad. Nobody more behind our management than I am.

We are definitely underdogs going into this game, despite it being in Ballybofey. Tyrone were 2021 All Ireland Champions, and while they haven't been playing well in recent games, Tyrone and Galway were two teams I thought could win the All Ireland this year if they get to Croke Park, they are a dangerous side with depth of quality who if they click, can beat anyone and go on and win it. We definitely have improved since the League, but part of me wonders did Derry and maybe Monaghan maybe expect to beat us handily enough and maybe weren't going full tilt, which allowed us that wee bit more time on the ball. Regardless it boosted our confidence and experience, and things like that can transform a team. Its strange that us losing so many key players this year due to retirement, injury etc has actually given the likes of McColgan, Curran, Doherty, R O'Donnell and Luke McGlynn etc proper game time during the National League and Championship so far. Its really brought them on and these guys are will be difficult to displace next year, they are plugging gaps that others couldn't. It's great to see Jack McKelvey back playing, I wish he had got more game time this year, long-term I think he will be a key player for Donegal, he is versatile, I would play him at left wing back, could see him, Eoghan Ban and Caolan McColgan make up a formidable half back line long term. Also Mark Curran, Brendan McCole and Stephen McMenamin are a formidable full back line. Thats a fairly solid back six. Commodore (Donegal) - Posts: 1332 - 22/06/2023 10:22:53 2488342 Link 0 |
Their first club was Glenfin but they were living in another club's catchment area. There was a dispute and the solution was they'd move to a third club where indeed they may have moved to.

Totally incorrect. They were never in Glenfin catchment area. They lived in Ballybofey catchment area. They then moved back to Fintown & transferred back to Naomh Conaill.

The 4 brothers played a fair bit of underage for Glenfin. Only for a relocation to Clare Eunan would be pushing for a place in the County XV along with his younger brother. Will be interesting to see how long he can keep the weekly commute back to Fintown going. Ultan is captain of the senior team this year and was in the county panel before Christmas until he picked up an injury. A talented house. peiledoir20 (Donegal) - Posts: 1181 - 22/06/2023 12:19:36 2488377 Link 0 |
Fair enough they are entitled to play with n Conal, is Jack Mc kelvey a similar story..

Is Ballinamore not decisively in Glenfin's catchment area? It was previously in Sean MacCumhaill's. There's still Ballinamore people and kids playing for Glenfin GAA. What is the ambiguity? Again, doesn't sound like a small town club if the insinuation is that they cover the entire townlands of Glenties and Fintown. It's a huge club.
