Replying To honda15:  "I am predicting all games to be tight contests.
Killoe to beat Slashers but tighter than expected - slashers always raise it for killoe.
Colmcille to beat Granard - Colmcille coming good and Granard not as good as expected.
Dromard to beat Rathcline - Expect this to be very close also - If rathcline get oran kenny on it enough they could cause a huge upset though.
Mullinalachta to beat Clonguish - Experience may just shave this one. Really good clonguish team however who were seriously impressive with a full team for the first time all year vs granard."
Half of the predictions came right. Killoe are not performing well and Slashers could of beaten them if they took their chances.
Granard as shown in the last two games, are not a top 8 team.
Rathcline very poor but credit to Dromard they controlled the game well. Way too reliant on Oran Kenny.
I won't write Clonguish off again. Them young minors have bottle.
Wide open championship now.

That's probably the end of that famous mullinalaghta team. They definitely made the most of it.
It was widely considered a two horse race for the senior championship before the weekend. Now i feel its any one of the teams left

Its great for the county as most club championships are predicable. Killoe still favourites but i think colmcille will beat them.

Colmcille v clonguish final

What a great second half performance by our young lads yesterday evening. Outscored Mullinalaghta 1-8 to 0-1 in that second half. I have to say we looked nervous in the first half but in the last few minutes of the half we got the belief back and played some lovely football. Mullinalaghta tried to intimidate our Minor lads but we stood up to them and took the victortly. Another big one now in 2 weeks against a strong looking Dromard team. Matt Duffy is a serious talent, he'll be a big loss to Dromard and indeed Longford when he goes to Australia after the championship.

Aged like a fine wine :-). Enjoy the win Liosbreac. Lads played very well, deserved it. Any of the final four can push on and win it now. We made hard work of Slashers on Saturday, but it's never handy when it's Slashers.

The hype was that we were coming and going to win all before us. That is still far from the case. People talking that the torch has passed from Mullinalaghta to us is all hype and not coming from our camp. They did play very well and deserved it and right now I am confident that we can take Dromard. Before the year I'd have been over the moon to reach a semi-final, I'll be disappointed now if we do not make the final. Winning it out is just a step too far but you never know

If they win it this year, will there be a repeat of the famous speech in 03, 'This is the first leg of our 5-in-a-row'

Killoe will be over the moon with Mullinalaghta been dumped out of the Championship.
Only going to be one winner from here and I am rubbing my hands with delight after backing them at 3/1 at the start!!

Although only 3 points in it at the end I don't think Killoe ever looked in trouble of losing that game on Saturday.
Colmcille had an expected stroll in the park and so too did Dromard.
I expected a bit more from Rathcline but they were too dependant on Oran Kenny.
Frankie McGee is as reliant as ever to get scores for Dromard and the Bull is still motoring well for them.
Big surprise with Mullinalaghta though, the legs are gone on that team.
At one stage near the end of the first half Duggan took off on a run and David McGivney was not able to keep up with him and then just stopped gasping for air!!
Aidan McElligott then decided at half time he was going to take Duggan out when he shoulder charged him into the chest as they were going up the tunnel.

Should be 2 good games in the semi-fianls.
Fair play to Colmcille, I had them gone even in the group stage.
Can they go back to back???

Only going to be one winner from here, followed by can Colmcille go back to back? Funny feeling you don't think either will happen.

Some good football played at the weekend.

The first 3 quarters all went as expected. I thought Dromard v Rathcline would be a closer game but Rathcline looked off the pace, but Dromard moving well.

Clonguish beating Mullinalaghta was a huge result and it was a deserved win. There was an underlying feeling that it could happen even though I still expected Mullinalaghta to come through.

The happiest team now must surely be Killoe as their arch nemesis and kryptonite over the past decade are out. Some Killoe lads will have their 6th Senior title this year. It would be some achievement in fairness.

If I put a bet on Killoe to win, then I fancy that to happen, hence why I said only one winner from here....in my point of view.
When I said can Colmcille go back to back?, I was putting the question out to any other forum user to have their say.
Hopefully you can grasp that!!!!

I was there that day and witnessed the speech. I'm sure that he regrets that speech now and perhaps it was a spur of the moment thing.
Anyhow, I'm sure that the captain will not make the same speech on County final day. There will be no tongue in cheek this time

I made the second half of the Dromard-Rathcline game on Sunday.
I have to say Dromard looked like they never got out of second gear.
There defence was top of everything and Masterson and McEntire ran midfield.
Duffy looks to be a great player and I see Francie McGee and Jamesie Martin are still plucking away.
What age is Martin?

The second game I was very surprised with how disappointing Mullinalaghta crumbled in the second half.
I thought with them being 4 points up at half time they would go on to win.
The Clonguish lads looked nervous and tried to force things in the first half.
I'm not sure if they are very fit or if Mullinalaghta were not.
Mullinalaghta players seemed to run out of steam in that second half especially in midfield and around the half forward line.
David McGivney missed a few frees he normally would put over and looked to be out of sorts in the second half.
I wonder was he carrying an injury?

Anyway, should be 2 good semi-finals.
Is the only pairing that could meet in the final that played before Dromard and Colmcille?
Looking on the Wikipedia I don't think Killoe have met Clonguish or Dromard in a final or Colmcille has met Clonguish in a final.

Took in the 2 games Sunday, serious impressive 2nd half performance by Clonguish who are now serious contenders for the championship. Probably the end of this great Mullinalaghta team who have had huge success. Dromard v comfortable against Rathcline with McGee and Matt Duffy v impressive. Rathcline yet again flop in the park and management v slow to react, rabbits in headlights. Too reliant on the excellent Oran Kenny.

Was at all games across the weekend. The Killoe game Saturday, and the Clonguish game Sunday being the more exciting.
Slashers with 2 or 3 goal chances that they will be regretting. Killoe missing a few but not as good as people are talking about.
Fancy Colmcille to win that semi final based on the two games.
Dromard controlled the game from start to finish. Really well balanced team who can cause Clonguish issues.
On the other hand, Clonguish have a brilliant forward line and i am not sure Dromard have enough to stop all of them.
Should be two great games but going for an all North Longford final.

Certainly the end of Mullinalaghta if this weeks Clonguish club notes are to be believed. This line in particular stands out...

"Mullinalaghta hit hard but it was akin to the sting of a dying wasp, as their time as one of the top teams in Longford appears to be over".

What's wrong with the terminology used?
From what I seen on Sunday, this Mullinlaghta team have had their day and as far as what I have read or heard they have nothing coming through from underage.
I'm sure the local paper might have something similar in it's reporting of the game.
Anyone who attended the game would have been shocked at how bad Mullinlaghta were.
No doubting about it, they were a great team but every teams run comes to an end at some point.
As a matter of interest, are you associated with Mullinalaghta?
As you seem to have taken huge offence to what was written.....when I'm sure no offence at all was meant.
