It's laughable is what it is. You need to look up how a forum works. Managed what at a high level?

Not quite sure how you can say that Clonguish are ALWAYS strong at underage for. Between 2003 and 2021 they won '0' minor championships. I would say that this was the primary reason for them not winning a senior title in the last decade rather than underachieving. The nucleus of their senior championship success between 2003-2009 was from winning the minor championships in 1998 and 2003. Granted, they are starting to see underage success again in the last few years but these players have not come through to senior ranks yet. You would imagine that they will be in contention at senior in a few years time. The duopoly of Columbas and Killoe at senior level over the last 10 years is based on their underage talent which came through so well. Of course, the great exception to underage success not coming through to senior was the Granard minor teams of the 1990s. They had some outstanding talent for the guts of a decade but it never materialised with a Connolly Cup success which was unfortunate for them. backtoback2 (Longford) - Posts: 42 - 09/08/2022 17:36:00 2436859 Link 0 |
As someone who would have played in that era of Granard domination of the minor grade I would think the reason they never won a senior was that although they had very solid teams they really never had the one or two exceptional players that make the difference. Also those days amalgamations were just thrown together, again I played in a couple of amalgamations where we never even had a training session together before the first round of the championship.

In the Westmeath senior championship with Moate.

I think you need to do a bit of research. Twaddle took Moate from the Junior Championship to Senior in the space of a couple of years. They were also in Division 3 and I believe they won Divison 2 this year. So I would say he has done plenty in a short space of time and at a young age. He is very well regarded in the club scene in Westmeath.

Twaddle took over moate when they were intermediate. Won the intermediate with them on his 2nd year with them and they are now in a relegation battle in senior. They were hammered in the division 2 final this year.

They still got promoted to Division 1 this year. What ye lads seem to be losing sight of is, he's been asked in as a selector. Plenty of experience. Willie, your clubman had no management experience before been brought in as a selector by Padraig Davis.

The national media reporting a ticket of Pat Flanagan and Ger Brennan is close to ratification. Would be a very good appointment and duo if true. rover08 (Longford) - Posts: 446 - 12/08/2022 15:21:15 2437184 Link 0 |
County Board now showing Mullinalaghta as winning the Leader Cup via a walkover of Colmcille. So you can add that to the long list of walkovers this season, and the most significant by far! LongfordgaaAbú (Longford) - Posts: 586 - 12/08/2022 16:17:22 2437204 Link 0 |

Is it just me or does anyone else think the twitter updates from our County twitter account is diabolical? For the the first two rounds of the championship I only seen 2 teamsheets. Half time and full time updates on some games if we're lucky. The deciding game in the hurling championship group stage, we only got a full time result. Any other county and they have constant updates on the games. Spinx (Longford) - Posts: 1346 - 13/08/2022 21:06:14 2437313 Link 0 |
100% agree. Just go onto Leitrim, Cavan and Westmeath and see the level of detail around all games (Cavan on another level) This is why the county board infuriate me at times, it's not a progressive set up. williesboy (Leitrim) - Posts: 450 - 14/08/2022 09:37:26 2437318 Link 0 |
100%, diabolical. Has been for some time. Quality of tweeting seems to heavily depend on who is playing.

You look at most other counties and the difference is crazy!! teams of the week in both senior and inter, updates on every match, post match pre match, predictions, reports, the list goes on!! lads we are so far behind.. at the moment we are lucky to see FT scores on longfordgaa website!! What an odd response. Care to argue the actual topic? Do you think that the tweeting is good/acceptable? Do you think it is on a par with surrounding counties? Do you think that if people are elected to roles, they should take on those roles and carry them out properly or at least to the minimum standard of other counties? Or do you think that anyone pointing out an issue should never point it out, and should only run for office to take on that role instead? Again, what an odd response. Should the clubs not have more of a role in this . Can't blame PRO for all this when most clubs not very active on social media
