Replying To LongfordgaaAbú:  "What an odd response.

Care to argue the actual topic? Do you think that the tweeting is good/acceptable? Do you think it is on a par with surrounding counties? Do you think that if people are elected to roles, they should take on those roles and carry them out properly or at least to the minimum standard of other counties? Or do you think that anyone pointing out an issue should never point it out, and should only run for office to take on that role instead? Again, what an odd response."
Pass no heed on him LongfordgaaAbu. He's just looking for attention.

Perhaps they should, but coordinated though the PRO or team at Pearse Park so it goes through the county twitter account. The bar is not high... a team of appointed individuals tweeting regular updates from key club games across the county, in an identical format, throughout the weekend, via the Longford GAA twitter account. We have less clubs and less key games than most of our neighbours, but are lagging on social media activity and in particular on twitter updates. Not unreasonable to ask why given how easily almost every other county manages to do this, week in week out!

I agree with the posters here, we are lagging a bit in comparison to our neighbours. That is a good idea regarding coordinating with each of the clubs particularly when it comes to live updates. In the past the home team PRO used to provide the match reports for their league matches. Longford Leader coverage is not what it used to be either. There was no match report for the Leader Cup semi finals, the cup they sponsor!

Any predictions for the weekend games?
Will there be any surprises??

We've had a few shock results in round 1 but round 2 saw no real surprises.

You might be surprised to know that the Leader Cup is not a sponsored competition

Killoe to beat Carrickedmond
Colmcille to beat Rathcline
Abbeylara to beat Clonguish
Granard to beat Mostrim
Dromard to beat Slashers

Since Killashee conceded all their championship group games, Granard, Mostrim, Slashers and Mullinalaghta all have an extra week of recovery in Group 1.

Correct. The MD of the Longford Leader sponsored the purchase of a cup back in 1936 when the competition first began, but it is not a sponsored competition in the way the championships from Senior to Under 13 are.

The league is not sponsored but the cup itself is, giving it its name. A representative of the leader presents the cup annually. Regardless it was disappointing to not have reports on league semi finals

On this weekend's matches Killoe will get back to winning ways with a routine win over Carrickedmond, Abbeylara will have just too much for Clonguish hampered by injuries, easy win for Colmcille, Mostrim to edge out Granard and match of the weekend will be Dromard and Slashers. If I had to bet I would go for Slashers

You'd imagine there won't be any shocks for Killoe or Colmcille. Stranger things have happened though. The other games should be interesting. it'll be interesting to see if Clonguish can spring a surprise given their poor starr. Dromard and Granard could be capable of similar too I reckon. Good weekend of games.

The Intermediate is shaping up to be 4 from 5 for the Semi-Finals. Fancy ourselves, Connollys, Ballymahon and Kenagh to make it through. Great to see Connollys flying it this year after many lean years. Promotion to Div 1 and possibly an appearance in the Intermediate Final. I though ourselves would win it out but the way Connollys are playing it might not be so straight forward.

Nothing too unusual from the weekends action. Mullinalaghta got more time in bed, Dromard showed that they are not to be messed with, Killoe woke up and Clonguish continue to disappoint. Nothing else too unusual I suppose. The Gaels sending a strong message that they are a step ahead in Intermediate.

Yes. No real surprises. Granard and Clonguish still not at the level to compete for another few years. Some strong underage players coming up the ranks but as has been said here that's no guarantee either. By the time Granards underage players come through Clonguish should be a few years ahead of them with their strong minors. Great win for Dromard. Colmcille and Killoe will be there or thereabouts.

It'd be interesting to know if there was a cup for the league before the Leader presented the current one in the 30s. I believe there are a few old cups in the possession of clubs still.

Standard weekend for Longford football with no surprises from senior to junior! Dromard showing they will push the top 3 this year which is great to see, routine wins all round, Clongish and Granard seem to be at Intermediate level now..
only way forward is 10 senior teams and 10 intermediate teams!
the gap between inter and senior only seems to be getting wider!
