They could but it won't happen and Duffy will be home for good soon enough as he won't make it down under

There's more hope of me finding the Loch Ness Monster than there is of Dromard beating Killoe!!!

Kiloe we have the game won bye half time. They would off been better off out that be hammered in the park on Saturday evening drunkensailor (Longford) - Posts: 83 - 11/09/2024 21:34:59 2569463 Link 0 |
Anyone who thinks Dromard are beaten before a ball is kicked, isn't paying attention. Good reason they have been in the semi-final in five of the last ten years, including the last two. One of the best records of getting thru to semis of any club in the county over the past couple of decades. They are the terminator of Longford football (a quality Mullinalaghta has too) and knocked Killoe out at the Quarters two years ago. Killoe will be favourites, but underestimate them at your own risk, especially with a point to prove given how things worked out. 5 of the last 10 years… oh please. They were in a relegation final with Rathcline a few years ago. Only ever made it to the final 10 times (won 4) , Ardagh and Mostrim have been in more finals.

You can try and dress them up as best you can but Dromard are not the team they were a couple of years ago, and even last year for that matter. They have lost a couple of their better younger players from last season. Everyone knows you are trying to build them up because they are playing your club, but the fact of matter is, THEY WILL NOT BEAT KILLOE!!! If they did beat Killoe, it would probably be on a par with their shock win over us in 1999, probably even bigger. Spinx (Longford) - Posts: 1315 - 12/09/2024 11:45:14 2569518 Link 0 |
They only made it to 7 county finals. Carrick would have given Killoe a better game than what Dromard will.

Oh Willie I dont recall Dromard and Rathcline contesting a Relegation final. Rathcline have made steady progress since they were prmomoted to senior ranks. You might shed some light on it. Dromard have contested a lot of semi finals in last 10 to 12 years. Dromard have lost a few players from last year. Clonguish are the team to challenge or even beat Killoe this year. Carrickedmond to beat Slashers in Relegation play-off. Loser of Slashers / Morstrim to go down. Interesting. B&G (Longford) - Posts: 351 - 12/09/2024 16:31:15 2569592 Link 0 |
Hard on kenagh coming up to senior the one year two teams are being relegated valley84 (Westmeath) - Posts: 1891 - 12/09/2024 21:25:29 2569630 Link 0 |
It's not really as even if it was just one team going down, they'd be the team going down!! The CB are trying to rectify a mess they created by having the winners of Intermediate having a chance of staying up in a year or two. Ballymahon who were relegated from senior could possibly be relegated to Junior for next year. The gulf in talent from Intermediate championship to senior is shocking.

This is a fact, after a great year last year, hard for them to come up to such a strong division, hard to see any team from intermediate competing at senior in the coming years, Connollys with a defensive approach could work

True, They had to act now a it was gone beyond a joke the gulf in standard between the Senior and Intermediated grades. The hammerings Ballymahon got last year and Kenagh this year does absolutely nobody any good, let alone the teams on the receiving end. With that in mind, it will be absolutely shocking that a club like Ballymahon could go down to Junior, never mind consectuive relegations from Senior, Intermediate to Junior... Has this ever happened before? LongfordSham (Longford) - Posts: 116 - 13/09/2024 09:04:21 2569661 Link 0 |
It is tough on kenagh. They were deserving intermediate champions last year. They were also unlucky to lose against mostrim in the first round this year. Rockshorecider (Longford) - Posts: 41 - 13/09/2024 09:35:52 2569664 Link 0 |
Agree with the posters above but at least there is a start in getting things right by relegating 2 teams from senior and intermediate. The junior championships have been a total joke for years too. No club's second team in a county the size of Longford should be coming near the business end of it let alone winning it. It should have been 3 teams coming down from senior this year as next year we will have uneven groups liosbreac6265 (Longford) - Posts: 248 - 13/09/2024 09:48:56 2569666 Link 0 |
If Carrickedmond, Slashers or Mostrim get relegated they'll be straight back up next year. That trend will then continue. I don't see how it will improve the Intermediate Championship
Dunnor (Longford) - Posts: 32 - 13/09/2024 10:09:57 2569672 Link 0 |
There's 2 going down again next year as well. It will make the Intermediate more competitive and Junior as well as that is doing the same format. We only have 2 sole Junior teams at the minute and that will increase to at least 4 by 2025 if not more. Spinx (Longford) - Posts: 1315 - 13/09/2024 10:53:37 2569678 Link 0 |
