Replying To southleitrim_mafia:  "Fenagh and Mohill for the final. I think Fenagh should beat St Marys I think theres been alot of hype around this St Marys team They beat Melvin Gaels, Gort, an injury stricken Bmore and an aging Aughawillan so i don't believe theyv'e shown they're capable of beating fenagh or winning the championship. Definitley a team for the future. Leitrim Gaels and Mohill will be a tight game. In last years semi against Mohill the Gaels were unlucky and probably felt the water break done them a disservice as they'd drawn it back a point before the start of the first quarter. Mohillians always say Leitrim Gaels give them a tough game and with men like Colm Moreton they can more than match mohill physically. That being said i still tip Mohill to get over the line."
Dont rule out a kiltoghert final

For what it's worth I think Mohil will win by 7 or 8 points against Leitrim Gaels. Fenagh st Mary's game is far harder called. I'm going to go with a draw and fenagh to win in extra time.

Would expect Mohill to win and think Fenagh might just have the classier forwards to beat Marys

Well done to Carrick and Mohill but I'd say both Fenagh and Leitrim Gaels will have a world of regrets today . A replay would have been a much fairer way to decide the first game especially when there is a two week break to the county final it's a cruel way to lose such a huge game. Fenagh didn't make the most of their dominance in the first half and were lucky to get extra time thanks to Donal Wrynns excellent 45. Mary's will feel confident for the final as Mohill outside of Keith Beirne and Jordan Reynolds to a lesser extent are not going as well as years gone by but they have the experience and know how to grind out results. Leitrim Gaels just didn't have enough firepower especially after Stephen Goldricks unfortunate injury and had some very bad wides at vital stages. I hope Fenagh and Leitrim Gaels can come back again and make a breakthrough they certainly have the talent. The final has the making of a good close match.

At both games yesterday. Young upcoming Mary's against seasoned Mohill, has the makings of a good final.
Fenagh didn't make their superiority count in first half and over the rest of the game I thought Mary's were the better side. Penalties was tough way to decide it but the rules are there. I agreed with penalties for the disrupted seasons but maybe its time to revisit on same.
Leitrim gaels will be disappointed with some of their missed shots particularly goal chance start of second half but mohill looked comfortable throughout and did what they had to do. Goldricks loss to the gaels was tough and wish him a speedy recovery.
Mohill will want to atone for their defeat last year but haven't hit the heights this year yet. Can they do it on final day? Mary's are looking to break through like mohill did in 2015 and have plenty of motive against mohill who beat them in big games the past few years, semi 2020,league final and first round this year. Has the makings of a great game and hopefully lives up to the billing and gives us a game as good as last year's final.

Assume Carrigalen are favourites for the junior? they lost narrowly to cloone in the group stages so should be a tight semi final.
Eslin losing badly to Annaduffs reserve team was a shock, thought it would have been the opposite

I dont care what anyone says penalities are no way to decide a game. Couldn't they go again on another day? it'd be a nice pay day for the GAA if nothing else. Awful way to decide a year of hard training down the drain.

I'm sure you remember down the years reading in newspaper's about matches been won by an injury time goal.

The injury time goal story raised it's head again on Sunday.

Melvin Gaels and Dromahair played in the SFC county relegation final on Sunday.
Melvin Gaels were 2 pts ahead in the 5th minute of injury time.

Dromahair scored a goal in the 6th minute in the last play of the match.

The referee's final whistle blew on the kickout.

Great credit to Dromahair for keeping their Senior status.

Neutrals are the game were all saying Melvin Gaels dominated the game, however a moment at the last play sent them down.

I know Gaels supporters couldn't believe what happened in the last seconds and how unlucky they were.

OK yeah it was a tough way to lose.

However the last play in Sunday's game wasn't the reason they went down.

Gaels supporters should reflect and ask themselves.

Review the season and be honest with results show with a club of which must have one of the biggest catchment areas in the county how did they get to the position of having to play in a relegation final.

.Results all season were shocking with a few very rare exceptions.

3. Potatoes don't grow in the day their planted.

It takes the season for them to grow.

They produced 3 inter county players who left the club. A huge blow to any club.

Two of them didn't go that for. Could still be playing for them if they really wanted. Players that turn their back on own club they better off with them. Just looking for glory. Most players have pride in their clubs. That team will be back and better without the likes of them

Rooney Mulligan and even Brennan to a certain extent have done great things with Melvin Gaels and Leitrim. Brennan and Mulligan won a county championship with the Gaels in 2012. Rooney by the looks of things has gone for a one year sabbatical in Dublin. Mulligan is living in Sligo so is togging with St Marys for the past few years after putting in years of great service with Leitrim and Melvin Gaels. Say whatever you want about Brennan he could say he feels more Donegal than Leitrim but I'd agree with you that he went to Donegal in search of fame and trophies and more power to him. I'd say Rooney and Muligan will be back wearing the Blue of the gaels again so i think the above statements about these lads is very unfair. This coming a man who doesn't like Melvin Gaels very much

I would expect DR will be back before long too, no harm at all playing football somewhere different especially if its at a higher standard and bringing what you learned back to your club and county, my club has plenty of lads from outside the club and others that lived away for years then came back, and they all contribute to the team greatly.

Why not stay and try and get your owen club to a higher standard? A lot of players live and work in Dublin / galway but still come home to train and play with their clubs not like the 2 lads that only went a few miles away. 100% lack of respect for club and parish. Take drumreily as example. Didn't see mckeon or Maxwell walk away from their club. Done the best they could and kept in with the top teams for years and they still there doing their best for the club.

Melvin Gaels are a funny one as they have dropped out of senior before and got their act together and come back and won back to back intermediate and senior championships. They have a huge pick and plenty of talent but with the draining of leadership from a squad it must difficult to motivate players to bother making the effort. They will no doubt be favourites for intermediate next year. Perhaps the can get some of their former stalwarts to rally the troops. That said it is a great fillip for Dromahaire to establish themselves as senior again at the expense of the Kinlough men will do there confidence the world of good. With Glencar Manorhamilton at a low ebb too. It looks like the Fenagh Cup will be residing in the south of the County for the foreseeable.

Very good point, but when you are young your life is your own and not your clubs (or your county's either for that matter) so if you get a decent job and a chance to experience something different for a while, work away cos generally the only work a club round here could source you would be something in construction or farming, and that's not for everyone. Just like commuting 3 hours every week isn't for everyone.
Obviously the 2 boyos is another matter and if you've nothing good to say, say nothing etc.

If I remember correctly didn't Paul Brennan leave after a incident in a club game that resulted in a suspension? Left because the County Board didn't support him I believe. As for Rooney he'll be back fairly quickly I'd say, Mulligan has played everywhere and anywhere and probably will finish up in Sligo. I completely disagree with fellas jumping from Club to Club, your Club is where u start and it's where u should finish within reason. Value loyalty above all else

With regard to gaels players returning mulligan wouldn't be excepted back (he's transferred twice) Paul brennan left because gaels and Leitrim hung him out to dry over an incident v Annaduff and that famous footballing family in that club. Dara Rooney couldn't get work. Dublin club sorted it out so can't blame a young lad trying to get on in life and get a few euros together

Brennan was not hung out to dry. No county board or club could or would condone what he done. County board payed for his appeal.
