Melvin Gaels should shade it. They had a comfortable win against Annaduff during the group stages.

I think Mary's will have too much for Glenfarne in the Junior decider. It's a pity this game isn't at the HQ.

Another interesting game is the Junior relegation final between Mohill B and their cousins Eslin. I hope Eslin can stay up but I have my doubts.

likely wont happen again IMO but Marys 2nd team well capable of winning Sunday and holding their own in Inter, if they can keep the young lads coming through they would well win it in a few years. Marys and (strangely when they cant get out of inter, and I think this statement will still stand Monday) Annaduff only clubs with strong 2nd teams now, most other senior clubs reserves are down in junior B

Gortletteragh also stayed up in Junior A. It's funny when you look at probably better senior clubs Fenagh, Manor, Ballinamore, Leitrim Gaels and they are in junior B with their seconds.

Yep as did MG, but were well outclassed in their respective quarters. Mohill in relegation final but I would back them to stay up if they sober up by then, they would have the better training numbers of late and I dont see how Eslin can rise to the occasion

I was told by an Eslin man in Mohill last weekend that they haven't trained since losing to Gortletteragh 4 weeks ago. Be sad to see them go down.

Thoughts on Sunday as a whole and club football in Leitrim in 2023:

The standard has dropped considerably from a high point just before COVID.
Emigration is really beginning to hit and the county board and Gaa in general are going to have to take action. Both in their own structures (amalgamations) and the big one 13-a-side. This solves a lot of problems both in regards to emigration and helping rural clubs and also with the style of play - The extra space created would help attacking play.
They also need to begin to use their lobbying powers (as the biggest community based org. in Ireland when it comes to planning laws etc.)

Anyway back to the football.

St Mary's will be sick this week. They've blown two finals in one year.

Sundays one, in particular, was a shocker - Everything went right for them. They were by far the better team.
Keith Beirne was really average and they dominated the middle third and they still lost.

I highlighted here last week that I had reservations about Reynolds in goals and unfortunately, he was at fault for both Mohill goals which cost Marys they title. Missing 3 scoreable goal chances also kept an experienced team like Mohill in the game and they got punished.

Shane Quinn and Ronan Kennedy are up there with any player in Mohills history now. Their consistency in club level in Leitrim in the last 10 years has been unmatched.

Hopefully they take the Connacht game somewhat seriously as the last thing the county needs is for them to get a pasting but I'm not sure if they will to be honest.

St Mary's will be back. They don't have an out and out scoring forward but young Guckian and Casey look like they could be top class and after seeing a lot of the U17 games this year they have another dangerous forward in Josh Maye coming through next year. A winter in the gym will bring that Mary's team on another step.

I think any criticism of the last years County Football will be eased now when people have seen the standard over the last month or two. Especially when you factor in that Ryan O'Rourke was not available.
However, next year is off to a bad start -I cannot see Keith Beirne being allowed to represent the county next year with all that is going on there.

Young Cox shined again for Annaduff. He's made of the right stuff but also has that magic that gets people off their feet which we don't see too often anymore.
Cox, Honeyman, Plunkett, Guckian etc. are the future along with the likes of McNulty who have already broke onto the senior team. That Fenagh/Allen Gaels teal also has a few stand out players along with all St Mary's are producing so we could have a big rivalry going forward.

6.Conor Farrell (St.Marys)

8.Domhnaill Flynn (Mohill)
9.Gavin Reynolds (St.Marys)

12.Riordan O Rourke (Fenagh)
13.Ronan Kennedy (Mohill)
14.Keith Beirne (Mohill)
15.Ryan O Rourke (Fenagh)"
Would have Jordan Reynolds in for Diarmuid Kelleher even though he only played two games.

Melvin Gaels will win in my opinion Annaduff have been trying to get up several yrs and have never been able. They've lost to worse teams then Melvin Gaels. I'd love to see Glenfarne win but St Mary's will have the strength and depth the don't

Great effort by Glenfarne, gutted they didn't get over the line but fair play to Carrick their fitness got them over the line. Great crowd in Drumkeerin, their grounds was in great condition a credit to them

Congratulations to St Mary's, and fair play to Glenfarne-Kiltyclogher, things haven't always gone their way over the years but they've never given up. Will they give Connacht a crack?

Best team won the intermediate final today. Annaduff Jane some decent footballers. Melvin Geals seemed a team on decline a lot of lads the wrong side of 30 and very little
Coming through. Darren cox put on an exhibition of place kicking. The quality of the final wasn't great but Annaduff won't care about that. Well done to Joe cox never an easy gig to manage your own club

Well done to Annaduff better team by far but ended up making hard work of it , probably ghosts of previous final losses played on their minds. Hopefully they will find their feet at senior in Darren Cox they have a great talent. Melvin Gaels very poor unless they can get Darragh Rooney back they will be staying in the intermediate grade I think

Honestly thought it was one of the worst games I ever watched, don't love Annaduff but Melvin Gaels were atrocious
