Yet another heartbreaking championship exit and such a frustrating encounter seeing as we were in full control 32 mins played and 7-3 ahead.

Cork fed off our errors at both ends of the field, big goal chances not taken again and gifted a goal plus a number of their points including the late winner. Fought back from 5 points down was the opportunity to kick on and win but managed to lose by pure fine margins again.

Very tough defeat to take on the chin and a shame to not reach the last 8. All the best to Cork next weekend thee games in 14 days will be uphill challenge for them as it would have been for us had we won.

Replying To endgame:  "The kick outs were a problem in the second half. We're not good enough at midfield so Carroll wasn't going long when Cork pressed and Cork intercepted a number of our short kick outs. That improved when Keith Doyle came on and he caught some good long ball. Always tough to lose by a point but the same thing happened last week and last year against Clare so it's not just bad luck. We need more players and hopefully they'll come through next year. Daire Cregg was good when he came on. We need Ultan Harney back. Davy Burke will learn from this year and perhaps we'll see a more attacking Roscommon next year. Roscommon were woefully lacking in ideas when in possession in injury time when we had a chance to win the game. Best of luck to Cork next week. They were just that bit better today and deserved the win. Enda Smith deserves a mention. He has been outstanding in this championship and hopefully Roscommon going out at last 12 stage won't impact his chances of at least getting an All star nomination if not an award."
Unfortunately that is going to be our level until the county board can finance fitness and conditioning to levels needed to compete with the bigger teams. Cork a Div 2 team are ahead of us on that front.

That 3 points without reply before half time was the undoing. Small margins. They did brilliantly to fight back, there's a never say die attitude which is great.

We took some great scores but Cork seemed to come by theirs much easier. So many errors as well. I feel sorry for C Murtagh and Donie. They've been brilliant but time is running out. Funny enough, I thought the opposite and that score generally had to work so hard for scores because we lack scoring forwards, whereas I thought Roscommon worked their scores and chances easier. I really think in the first half, Roscommon worked excellent scoring chances but refused to shoot, endlessly recycling. I think you had the players to take a few of those shots and convert, which would have given you a decent lead at half time. The five minute spell before half time breathed life into Cork, because before that, there was only going to be one winner.
Anyway, I think Roscommon are sn excellent group of players and will be even stronger next year. Good luck to you. You are great fans and real football people.

Only saw the last 5mins but fitness struck me. Cork were bouncing while yer lads looked out on their feet. Hard luck today. There now will only be one Connacht team left standing after tomorrow. Hopefully it's us.

I thought in parts of the second half anyway ye looked like scoring everytime ye went forward. I'd say Roscommon were cautious in the first half as they were playing against the breeze and maybe the 11 wides last week was in their heads. Likewise Cork very gracious supporters and ye really were a 16th man today. Best of luck next week whoever ye get.

I'll happily stand corrected if proven wrong but that was not a technical foul by Conor Daly. According to the rule book it is a bounce.
Game changing moment. Refs can miss something or interpret a tackle but to call a technical foul like that isn't good. Did he react to the crowd?

Yes I thought the home crowd was influencing the ref towards the end. Still Roscommon weren't good enough against either Kildare or Cork, neither of whom are are a top team so we can't have any complaints to be out of the championship. We'd surely have targeted a quarter final place but as with last year against Clare, not good enough.

Is Aidan O'Connell as High Performance manager in 2019 starting to reap some rewards?

Just watch the Conor Daly incident back and it's extremely harsh he actually throw or over carry. Still better team won with more direct fast attacking play

Roscommon did so well to close the lead we had. We were fortunate to close this game out.

A 1 point defeat is a killer, as little incidents throughout the or missed scores seem so much worse.
Also felt the Roscommon lads seem to tire as the game wore down.
Thrilled to get the win, but at times following the Cork footballers can put the blood pressure on the high side.

I wonder is Davy Burke's style more effective against the better teams. We beat Mayo in Castlebar and drew with the Dubs in Croke park but we were very ordinary against Sligo, Kildare and against Cork today. It's very disappointing not to even make the quarter finals. A good League campaign and good results against Mayo and the Dubs who were top teams but we're out today beaten by a team who were beaten themselves by Clare only a few weeks ago. It is the hope that kills. I had a feeling that we might get to a semi final this year but not to be. Of course we thank players and management for their efforts but one also has to look with a critical eye and without the brilliant Enda Smith, we'd be very poor indeed. As someone else said here, we can't win a throw in at the start of either half. We have no midfield. We're well short and new blood will be needed next year if we're to progress. I don't feel much better than after last year's debacle against Clare. We keep losing one point games because we're not good enough. Today, last week, last year.

That's the sad part of it, just one team in the last 8 , same as Leinster with 4 from Ulster and 2 from Munster. We had 4 teams still involved last Sunday with 3 teams in pole position in their group. A draw for each would have guaranteed Galway and Mayo a QF place and a home match in the Hyde for us. Looking forward to Sunday's game and fingers crossed that the winners won't pick up any injuries or suspensions.

Great start to the year. Defeating Tyrone and Galway. Both are still involved in battle for SAM. Beat Mayo in Connacht championship (Again Mayo are still in championship). Qualified for last 12 of the championship when only four teams were elliminated. Now gone in first knockout match.
Although playing D1 football next season was this a good season. Of the D1 sides in the spring, only five will be in last eight (One more will go tomorrow)

Or did linesman say something in his ear?? Extremely harsh. I actually didn't see it as I had looked towards the forwards to see was there any options. Man beside me said it was for 2 bounces but having seen the video I really can't know what he called it for? At that stage of a knock out game with it level, there is no way he can be 100% sure he seen a technical foul! If he hadn't called it, not a single person would have questioned why! I seen Conor going to the ref after and making his feelings known so hopefully he didn't overstep the mark but it's easy to see why he would have been so frustrated.
