He's Turloughmore parish . 9 or 10 pucks of a Daithi Burke hitting a Sliothar would see him in Corofin and nearly in Annaghdown. Come to think of it not far from Claregalway/Carnmore either.

Should have added ,it doesnt matter where he lives, he is higly regarded and appears to have blended in well in Corofin. He wasn't picked as Corofin manager for where he lives /teaches etc . His Cv ,pedigree and football philosphy would have all come into the mix. He and more importantly his philosphy would have to have been known to Frank Morris so that proably helped in the process but knowing Frank would be no good to him if he wasnt seen to be the right man for the job.

I think the appeal is falling partly due to the expectations placed on GAA players. We have two or three lads on our team who also play soccer. They say soccer is more fun. They can even have a few pints after the game without aul bucks at the bar giving out.

Let me guess you're from Newbridge. Will you stop. I can name at least five better forwards than Rory Cunningham at intermediate never mind Senior. And Martin Quinn is not the best defender either, Sean Mulkerrin?

Do they still have Junior inter-county on the go? Probably a good shout for that.

How did they fall so drastically? I know there is an older population (or renters) living in the Claddagh.
Looking at their catchment area (including Eire Og), they have a very high population density within. They should be an intermediate club at the very least."
What happened Father Griffins was a combination of focusing on importing adult football at the expense of underage development AND the emergence of Salthill. There is a school of thought also that those 2 factors are not completely independent either.

Can't see whoever gets it doing any worse than they have been with the resources at their disposal. Only way is up.

Thanks for clarifying! I knew it was roughly around that area, so knew it could possibly be any of them parishes.

The melting pot of Galway GAA circles ;)

There are no families in those areas.
Liam Sammon was born and reared on the corner of Eyre Square. I would say there are very few if any Mellows players from their original patch of Woodquay and Bohermore. The likes of Mellows and James' seemed to adapt. Griffin's and to a lesser extent Castlegar didn't as acknowledged by the Connollys themselves

Definitely an attractive job. All the raw materials, just need the guidance and a bit of luck to push on.

Interested to see who gets the nod.

Would Maurice Sheridan and Kieran Murphy go together for this one? Both doing great work in Claregalway College. Add Claregalway native Paddy Moran into the mix too.

I would see it as the perfect job for someone like Gary Delaney

Be interested to hear these names? Not from the perspective of seeing whether you think they are better than Rory Cunningham more to see who else might be out there for Galway. Ps I think Cunningham is a very good player but would not see him getting into the team(perhaps an option as sub).
The likely starting forwards if fit are: Tierney, Cooke, Heaney, Finnerty, Comer and Walsh. Hard to see past that six but we badly need more options particularly options with intercounty level pace. The next in line are Tomo C, Cathal Sweeney, Cillian O Currain, Pat Kelly if fit, Tony Gill. I like Gallagher but PJ doesn't seem to use him. Not sure if Dessie C can replicate his outstanding club form at this stage. Finnerty and McHugh have been in and out. M Daly unlikely to play. You could throw in one of the midfield options as a forward(McDaid, Conroy, Maher, Hernon, McLaughlin, P Egan, S O Neill, maybe N Daly) but that does nothing for the obvious lack of pace. Who else could step up?

Cant really see where all the applicants will come from.
Yet to prove themselves on the big stage.
Would maybe scrape into the top 8 in Galway

I'm sorry but is that not very naive from the club anyone could apply, instead of making a statement of intent and a short list and going after who they think is best to get there club going, who let's call a spade a spade always loads of talk out of them but nothing backing it up,
