For Galway, Glynn has earned his place and for a man who didn't start the sigerson final its been some turn around. Kelly from MM can score and might goast in. I remember going to match in U21 tournament in Killmalock. All the hype around Silke and Tierney won the game for Galway... Dessie is a great club player but can he win his own ball? Should be on the team as should Eoin Finnerty based on club form. Tomo has good form in Croke Park. OLaoi is the banker to contribute. Billy is only back with strength and height to come in but other lads have more speed. Sweeney, Joyce trusts him but is he fast enough for Croke Park? You have go with speed in Croke Park. Strong slower subs in 2018 killed us.
Walsh has been instructed to keep out of the space and is playing smart to free up others but you'd hope PJ and Co have a plan to free up space for him vs Kerry. A man who's carried Galway through plenty of games deserves to shine on the biggest stage. The best player in Galway by a country mile & you'd hope ref, who should be congratulated on honor, protects him from the persistent fouling he experienced vs Armagh.

If Galway can have a massive start and go with an almighty finish they'll be there or there abouts. I wouldn't rule out Galway bringing off a big name player then bringing them back on again.

Glynn was injured for quite a while before that final. He would have been a certain starter if fully fit.

Jack Glynn was injured for alot of Sigerson but would have definitely started if he was fit.It was one of the reasons that UL lost the final.So not really a turn around just that he got back to fitness.He was always going to be strong for championship and is improving game on game.

Had given up posting for a bit, but wanted to come in to wish Galway the best of luck for Sunday. This is a decent but far from unbeatable Kerry team, however Galway will need to stop them building a head of steam. The defensive system will need to be at its best to cut down the space for the Kerry forwards to run onto passes (a tough ask). One ground for optimism is that the last time Clifford met a few of these defenders in the Sigerson final he was well held. I know a lot of people rate O'Shea, but he's closer to ordinary imo than he is to Clifford's level, except for his free taking. If the Kerry forwards get frustrated, the Kerry backs will follow their instinct to join the attack and this is where Tyrone got joy last year. Some people are saying that Galway have nothing to lose, but ye do, it's an AI final and a winnable one, so go win it and make us fierce envious! Very pleased too for PJ, he deserves this 100%.

Best of luck to all Galwegians on your trip to Croke Park. It would be great to see Sam passing over the Shannon in Athlone and back to Connacht for the first time in over twenty years. Hopefully you can do it tomorrow.

ye have been brilliant all year and no matter what happens tomorrow we wont forget the year you have
given us..leave everything out on that pitch tomorrow lads and give it your absolute maximum and lets

Your post is full of tolerance for defeat. You sound like someone preparing the ground for the "well done lads, great run this year and sure next year you'll go the final step" kind of chat.

Exact same stuff that I heard Mayo people say in Croke Park in 04 and 06 as Kerry cut them to shreds.

The culture in Kerry is more like: "don't come back home without the cup - or else". There is a low tolerance in Kerry for losing. Nobody claps you on the back in Kerry for "playing a good game" or approaching a game with a "let's see how it goes" mentality.

You get the impression that Galway are coming to "play a good game" and to "do their best".

But Kerry are coming to win.

Well unless gbay is actually Padraic Joyce or one of the team, I think we're ok.
Joyce has a winner's mentality and will have it driven into the team that this is a huge opportunity.
Thankfully that matters more than what a lad posts on Hogan Stand.

I'd disagree, I think there's a quite confidence in Galway and the supporters see Galway as a team that should be winning. Having teams that won all Irelands in living memory for different generations seems to give them that confidence and there is a noticeable difference with Mayo supporters.

I thought that tyrone were dead clever that time lol. They offered kerry a dummy, and they bought it hook line and sinker, probably doing themselves out of an all Ireland in the process.

Hard luck lads did a lot right simply outstanding performances from McDaid, Walsh. Kerry keeping the other forwards out of the game proved a difference.

I'd fully go along with this summary. Thought Galway had two of the three best players on the pitch y/day, but the general level of Kerry's performance from the rest was better than from Galway's supporting cast - they just didn't give the ball away cheaply while the Galway lads were trying over-ambitious passes at times to players who were tied up by the Kerry defence.

I don't see this being an outlier for Kerry either, not like 2014 when frankly they were either the 3rd or 4th best team at the time and things just went for them in the crucial games... this time they're ahead of the pack and provided Clifford stays fit and healthy they'll be strong for most of this decade (if he went to Oz he'd be a superstar). This win will bring Kerry on like the Dubs win in 2011 and who knows what they can achieve with all of that extra confidence? Yesterday's win is seen as a rite of passage down there... the real challenge is to equal/beat the Dubs 6 in a row and when you see what Limerick have managed in the hurling over the last 5 years (they could have 5 in the bag at this point but for being caught by the Cats in 2019), then you wouldn't rule out a period of dominance. Hopefully not for the rest of us, but strong teams dominating is looking less of an accident of history than a modern trend, with teams becoming success machines once they've got the set-up right and cracked the first one (fading appetite seems to no longer be a big factor). I don't much like O'Connor, but they got the right man in to set the ball rolling.

Galway deserve great credit for playing some very enterprising and creative football, particularly during the first half. The potential is there to build more onto what's there, starting with the keeper who just flirted with disaster too often (and largely got away with it). The year in Div 1 will likely help, but that's all so far away it's hard to even think about it. It seems weird to even say roll on 2023!

Massive break through year for Galway. Most of our panel are not at their peak yet. Thank you PJ and the players for lifting the county back to the top table. Winning Connacht and 2 massive games in Croke Park and the minor All-Ireland, not too shabby by our youngsters.

Some top class Dublin players took time out to travel and this gave opportunities for others to step up. The thing is there is now plenty of talent in Galway due to healthy underage structures and recent successes. It's all about building on what we have.

We are now beginning to see the massive development of football in the City/Claregalway beginning to pay off. However, more needs to be done in the once traditional strongholds e.g. Tuam, Dunmore, Ballinasloe and clubs along the Suck valley. The talent is there.. supports need to be put in place.
