I know for a fact Clubs don't care what neutrals think, it's all about keeping the youth playing hurling and not drifting off to other sports

Portumna v Craughwell……………..Craughwell Cappataggle v Moycullen..............Cappy Clarenbridge v Ardrahan...............Bridge Turlough v Oranmore-Maree..…..Turlough ***Should be some great matches. The County Champs could come out of this bunch though I still favor St Thomas's. Trump2020 (Galway) - Posts: 2281 - 11/10/2022 17:22:40 2443610 Link 0 |

I agreed with all your picks except the Turloughmore match. Portumna have made a fool of me all year. They win every time I pick against them! I agree 2 good days of hurling ahead! (Do you like any hurling club in Tipp to go far?)

They're drifting away anyway, you're nuts if you think hurling is going to stop a young fella from living his life these days.

Im still saying Loughrea as my dark horses! St Thomas's as my safe bet, Loughrea to maybe catch them on a wet day ;)

Will try get to some of these games if I can. Double headrer in Kenny Park is always a good day out. There's something about the way the pitch is below the stand/terrace. No, I think the level has dropped this year in Tipp after a couple of really good championships. Kilruane is a massive surprise in the final especially after losing Craig Morgan to an ACL a couple of months ago. Kildanagan havent performed well this year which is a testament to how far they have come as a club to reach the final again - they'll be warm favourites. The winners play Ballngunner anyway which I really cant see either coming anyway close to them. tiobraid (Tipperary) - Posts: 4119 - 12/10/2022 09:18:17 2443669 Link 1 |

I never believed in Preliminary Quarter Finals, real Championship starts at the Quarter Finals....so I'll wait till this weekends mickey mouse games are over and the Quarter Finals draw is Made! Expecting Cappy,Turlough, 'Bridge, Loughrea and Thomas' to make for cracking Quarter Finals! katser (Galway) - Posts: 2481 - 12/10/2022 11:17:07 2443708 Link 1 |
Mickey mouse? Makes no sense, knockout is knockout, getting knocked out in the preliminary is just the same result as getting knocked out in the quarters...just ask Turloughmore about last year.

And Sarsfields too. I'm sure you unintentionally neglected to list them. ;) They were impressive in a very competitive group and have a batch of very promising U20s coming through as well. WanPintWin (Galway) - Posts: 2223 - 12/10/2022 12:31:55 2443724 Link 1 |
Thank god next year We don't have to worry about mickey mouse Preliminary Quarters or play offs in order to get down to the Quarter Finals. Remember back in the day We were always told....sneek out of the Group, get a handy Quarter Finals and your only one big match away from getting to the Co Final!!

Ha yeah right! Hmmmm so my predictions for the Quarter Finals are 5 East Galway, 2 South Galway and 1 North Galway Clubs. Galway City/West represents Oranmore-Maree and Moycullen have it all to do, but Moycullen playing Cappataggle in Pearce Stadium gives Moycullen an advantage!!

You could do with a geography lesson... craughwell - south cappy - East bridge - south turlock - North sars - south town - south toms - south tommy larkins - south that leaves 5 out of 8 inside the geographical Hurling circle between Gort Loughrea and Athenry. Cappy just about outside it. Larkins and Turlock representing the county bounds. Yet again there will be no visit from Tom Callanan this winter in East Galway. clare_sparrow (Galway) - Posts: 441 - 12/10/2022 16:44:52 2443770 Link 1 |

Clarinbridge and Turloughmore will sail through this round. Moycullen will probably be competitive against Cappy for a while but you would expect the talent that Cappataggle have to get them through in the end. The only Senior B team that i can see with a chance is Portumna. Craughwell are very limited scoring wise, relying heavily on Tom Monaghan from frees. I'd fancy the Portumna forward line with McLoughlin, Fogarty and O'Meara to do some damage against them. galway19 (Galway) - Posts: 806 - 13/10/2022 09:35:19 2443800 Link 1 |
