I'll be there no matter where it is just saying it's not fair on families asking them to do 6 hours travelling in the one day to support our team when there are better alternatives

We bet Dublin in thurles in the championship in the mid noughties when croker was been done up if I remember rightly. Waterford bet us in 08 cork bet is in 13 and we bet cork in thurles in 14 and Clare then last year. I think that's all we've played there in my lifetime anyway

Wexford v Clare/Limerick
Cork v Galway/Kilkenny
Double header in croke park providing Antrim and Kerry don't throw a spanner in the works.
The football quarter finals are normally double headers so why not the same for hurling?

Naturally we would all love the game v Clare or Limerick to be in Nowlan Park or Thurles
( Thats if we beat the mcdonagh losers) Thing is if its pencilled in for Cork i can't see them changing their minds.
Yes Cork is a munster venue but if it was in Kilkenny wouldn't Clare or Limerick rightly complain about the venue.
We in Wexford don't have a God given right to have it played in Leinster.
The best thing is to go to whatever ground it's at and not to be carrying around that negative baggage of saying "ah sure we won't win if its in Cork we never do well there.
It'll be a green field with a goal at each end so its the same for each team.
The team need to concentrate on the task ahead and not waste their time and energy on where it's been played.

Agree 100% now let's beat kerry or Antrim first and then concentrate on limerick or clare if we win.

Time for me to get the Dominic Williams "Bible" out. :)

2008 - Lost to Waterford, 2-19 to 3-15
2010 - Lost to Tipperary, 3-24 to 0-19
2012 - Lost to Cork, 3-24 to 2-17
2013 - Lost to Clare, 3-24 to 1-20
2014 - Lost to Limerick, 4-26 to 1-11
2016 - Beat Cork, 0-23 to 1-17

Replying To bloodyban:  "The fact is Cork is Irelands second city and the Stadium is amazing. Its a fantastic facility. Iv always loved going to Cork on the train for Munster Championship . Its definately understandable that Wexford would be put out with the travel but you guys didn't make it through the front door.. To be honest the Wexford hurling support this year has been poor over all. Id love to see the band wagon back like 96"
We need the success back to get those fans back bloodyban. We are where you were at 10 or 11 years ago at the minute! Why does it make any difference about the back door? Whoever we play if we get to the AIQF will have lost the same number of games as we have and will be in the backdoor as well after losing the Munster final.

Replying To Yellow:  "We need to dig in the heels and say NO to Pairc Ui Caoimh. Thurles is a huge advantage to Clare too and their supporters and I cannot remember ever winning there.

Nowlan Park or nowhere

We always play well there"
That's a silly attitude. Cork is actually a far quicker journey for someone from Wexford than someone from Clare. Yes Thurles is probably slightly closer to East Clare than Wexford but for someone from West Clare its a long way also . Someone from New Ross wouldn't take too long to get to Thurles. Kilkenny is alot closer to us than Clare so hardly fair on the Clare supporters. And in any case suppose we lose to Kerry or Antrim or Clare beat Limerick?

Replying To ExiledInWex:  "Wexford support has been anything but poor this year, and especially relative to the expectation of where the team can go. The Saturday evening game v Galway was a poor time yet there was a good Wexford crowd and a few from Galway. It was said here a while back by someone that every county has a 10k support and that is accurate for me. The exceptions to that are Dublin (4-5k), Waterford (7-8k) and Kilkenny in the early stages.
The Wexford crowd was poor against us, but then in Kilkenny Wexford comfortably outnumbered Kilkenny by I'd say 2-1 in Kilkenny.
I even remember going to Dublin Wexford matches in the 90s and Wexford were by a long way the best supported team in Leinster. I would say the Leinster finals in the 90's had around 30-40k at them provided Wexford were in them. There was a huge crowd at the Leinster final in 96 I would guess. So its not like a big band wagon turned up in 96, something which Limerick would know all about.

I'm a neutral view here with a leaning towards Wexford having lived here and bringing the chaps to the matches.

The fact of the matter is with regard to Cork, Google Maps tells me it is 2 hr 30 minutes from my home right now with no traffic. So add at least an hour, each way, plus the walk down to the Pairc, you need to leave a minimum of 4 hours before the match. It is the wrong stadium, in the wrong place and it was the GAA's worst ever decision to build it. If they had modernised Thurles or Portlaoise or Tullamore to that standard, it might have made sense for many neutral venue games.

Ireland's second city or not. It is still in the corner of Ireland and let Ed Sheeran play for the next 20 years if they want. Imagine telling Cork they are playing Kilkenny in Wexford Park in the quarter, what would they say?"
You must be a long way up the county. Its only a 2 hour trip to Cork from here between Wexford and New Ross. About the same as Thurles. And it's the same trip to Cork from Ennis maybe longer as the ground is on our side of Cork. Thurles be a bit closer to Ennis. For anybody our end of the county Cork is no further than Croke Park.

Not good. Probably similar to our Championship record in Cork though I'd say we played less games there

We'll be heading for Kerry or Antrim first........both a good old spin.

Salthill next year in the Round Robin, maybe Belfast too if Antrim get promoted......assuming we can afford the diesel!!

Of course the poor old Wexford footballers have to travel the length of the country even over to London the odd time.

Huge Wexford crowds in 1997 broke 3 records that year.

Leinster semi final attendance record 52,079.

Leinster final attendance record 55,492.

All-Ireland hurling semi-final record crowd of 62,142.

We we had of got to the final against Clare there would have been a shortage of milk!!

Honestly, if there is 1 thing I would love is the Dubs to play London or New York. I have never been in Riselip and would love a game against London just to experience it.

Record for the AI final involving us back in the 50s will never be broken either as Croke Park wouldn't hold the crowd these days. Think the Leinster final record got broken when we played Galway in 2017.

Unfortunately there's a very good reason why you haven't been to Ruislip and won't anytime soon unless you start following your adoptive county!
