So where do you think the GPA got the figure of 50% from ?"]No idea. I do know though that they didn't get it from a Tyrone County Board statement."]The GPA have been in close contact with the Tyrone camp and there is not a chance in hell that the GPA would have released such a statement regarding numbers had it not come directly from the Tyrone camp."]There's an issue of openness here - reporting something third hand gives people a get out and a deniability if it later turns out not to be true. That deniability is lost if a public statement is issued, a public statement means accountability. Hopefully the Tyrone County Board issue a public statement stating clearly : 1) How many players have tested positive 2) How many have been identified as close contacts by NHS necessitating a period of isolation."]Did the statement not say "affected by covid"? Very different to 50% having covid. Affected by covid covers a multitude. IMO Authorities would need a lot more detail before any decision on further extensions"]very easy to prove medical facts, { which is no ones business apart from the players involved and the management team/s, } every player is monitored by a gps body monitoring system which is downloaded onto a file, pre season work from the s/c/f team will be monitored and checked to make sure players aren't slacking, in season training sessions similar and cross referenced against early season to determine progress and if extra work is required in certain areas, match stats again monitored and cross refed to see if a player is flagging in any area of the game and what their vital stats are, all this will be available to the medical team and probably used as evidence for the with drawl, no county or player would want to forfeit a game if this importance if they didnt have hard scientific facts to back up any argument or charge against the county board and managers, at the end of the day these are amateur players who hold down day jobs, have families possibly mortgages businesses to pay for and if they succumb to long covid symptoms who's going to pick up the pieces? certainly not croke park or the player injury scheme bulmccabe (Tyrone) - Posts: 361 - 14/08/2021 19:55:37 2370969 Link 0 |

Tyrone in the process of re-writing their statement from this morning...lol ardmhacha (Armagh) - Posts: 172 - 14/08/2021 20:08:27 2370981 Link 3 |
the medical evidence you suggest is readily available to the tyrone county board management the county team management and their backroom strength conditioning team and the medical team, as you know or possibly dont from your response is every county player is monitored with a personal gps/body monitoring system which tracks and records their daily vital stats, bp, blood oxygen levels, heartrate both under load and rest every move they make including distance speed and their vitals are constantly monitored and programme adjusted to suit recovery or improvement, i would be pretty sure fergal logan with his legal background against croke parks suits will have everything in order to justify the management decision to forfeit with the backing of the county board, i can assure you covid if you get it right/wrong is debilitating for an ordinary person even fatal for thousands as per the death rates and icu figures over the last 18 months but the effects on elite athletes who are amateurs also could well be unrecoverable from, hopefully we will see all these players back on the field soon with their clubs in county leagues and championships

victimhood is easily disproved or proved in todays world of player stats which im sure croke park will have been presented with so basically your anti tyrone northerners is just the usual sour grapes

hearsay from a friend of a friend who's aunty knows somebodies grannies cousin isn't facts, the only ppl who need to see the facts which will be completely recorded since the beginning of pre-season etc and likely have been sent to croke park for each player affected, pretty sure fergal logan will have everything watertight to present to the county board and croke park, every thing else is just speculation and rumours and we will all wait to see what croke parks response and statement is on monday or whenever they meet, they arent looking good at the minute and seems to be money driven instead of health and wellbeing driven, hopefully i'm wrong but what logical reason was there to only grant 6days and seems the situation in garvaghy has actually got worse since the request was made

because it really is none of yours or anyone elses business, those that need the full facts have them and thats all that matters at end of the day

I think this thread is jumping the gun a bit. Tyrone have told the GAA it won't be possible for them to fulfil their semi-final fixture next weekend, and have asked the GAA to defer the semi-final for another week. It's up to the GAA wether they accept Tyrone's request or not, the problem is Sligo couldn't fulfil a Connacht championship game earlier in the summer and had to pull out, so it's hard to know what dicision the GAA will make. I hope we get to see another semi-final the championship wouldn't feel right otherwise. DUALSUPPORT (Limerick) - Posts: 1038 - 14/08/2021 20:45:59 2371044 Link 0 |

It's disappointing, but not surprising, to read some of the petty comments from some of my fellow Down people. It's embarrassing that 1 or 2 keyboard warriors are demanding answers to a situation that doesn't affect them in anyway at all. CCFD (Down) - Posts: 3 - 14/08/2021 20:55:04 2371063 Link 3 |
Exactly. Individual's health is his business, even though some of the snipers posting here feel they ought to be personally consulted on the matter lol

Interesting how there's no sign of the Jimbo and the other posters who are normally so quick to look for facts etc with statements like this....

In a similar situation the Cork U20 Hurlers' match was postponed 11 days. Why do Tyrone only get offered a postponement half the length of Cork, 6 days? tyroneed (Tyrone) - Posts: 753 - 14/08/2021 21:35:30 2371129 Link 0 |
Brilliant! That's the best you can do!

Right, but what is your point, I do think the powers that be should push on with or with out Tyrone , THE FACT of the matter is Tyrone have withdrew from the competition , we should take their word , and move on , BELIVE ME Tuseday or Wednesday theyll change their mind

The game should be postponed for as long as it takes for Tyrone to do themselves justice. MesAmis (Dublin) - Posts: 13694 - 14/08/2021 22:03:14 2371165 Link 8 |
If Kerry had anything in them they would now issue a statement to say they are supporting Tyrone in having the game delayed so that they can play it. Of course Tyrone blew the Kerry wishes out the window as Kerry was banking on a weakened Tyrone team to come down, give them a game for 20 mins, and then roll over and have their bellies tickled. It hasn't turned out that way and now Kerry and the GAA are in dissaray. mayotyroneman (Tyrone) - Posts: 1821 - 14/08/2021 22:17:33 2371186 Link 1 |
Whilst I haven't conducted any polls, I believe that most true gaels who can manage to petty rivalries to one side, would like to see Tyrone being accommodated by being provided with an adequate extension. And no, I don't believe you that Tyrone will suddenly change their mind and put their players at risk if they haven't fully recovered. Some Down posters seem to allow their fixation with Tyrone to cloud their judgement.

Do you want your fellow Down Gael to spell it out for you. Doesn't concern you and you don't know what has happened within the Tyrone camp. People's health comes first and fair play to others who think the same. God forbid if we all lived in your world.
